Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the income level of fishing gear fishers and analyze the welfare level of fishing gear fishers in Barombong Village, Makassar City, South Sulawesi Province. Techniques data collection is done using observation, interviews using questionnaires and documentation. The type of data collected is data that is by the prosperous family indicators based on the 2019 BPS, namely; income data, household consumption or expenditure data, living conditions, household facilities, the health of family members, ease of obtaining health services, ease of entering children into education level and ease of securing transportation facilities. This research was carried out in Barombong Kacan Tamalate Village, Makassar City, in February - April 2021. The results showed that fishing gear fishermen respondents' average income per year was Rp. 36,905,833/year or Rp. 3,075,486/month and fall into the category of low-income level. Based on the 2019 BPS indicators, it is known that 24 respondents from 10 groups of fishing gear fishermen in the Barombong Village, Makassar City belong to the high welfare level as many as  8 respondents (33%) with a total indicator score of 20. As many as 16 respondents (67%) belong to the moderate welfare level with total indicator scores ranging from 18-19. Based on these results, it can be seen that the standard of living of fishing gear fishers in the Barombong Village, Makassar City, is classified as prosperous, with the fact that the income of respondents is low. Still, most of the life support has been provided by the government, especially in the health and education sectors, so that it does not burden household expenses. The addition of new jobs needs to be done as another source of income to increase welfare from a moderate level of interest to a high level of welfare.

Abstract

White shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) is considered able to replace black tiger shrimp (Penaeus monodon) as a positive diversification.  Excellence shrimp vaname (L. vannamei) is a high nutritional value, fast growth and able to use the water column as a place to live so it can be maintained with high stocking density. Natural feed (phytoplankton) can be stimulated through fertilization.  The study was carried out at the Ghonebalano Coastal Fish Seed Center (BBIP), aiming to determine the effect of using different doses of urea and TSP fertilizer on the growth and survival of vaname shrimp (L. vannamei). The study used a Completely Randomized Design with three levels of combination treatment of fertilizer doses, namely treatment A urea 0.5 g/TSP 0.7 g; treatment B Urea fertilizer dose 0.7 g/TSP 0.9 g and treatment C dose Urea fertilizer 0.9 g/TSP 1.11 g. The results showed that the highest growth was obtained in treatment B i.e. 1.54±0.16 g/individuals, compared with treatment A (1.11±0.08 g/individuals) and treatment C (1.32±0.10 g/individuals). Survival in treatment A was 71.11±3.85%, treatment B was 73.33±6.67% and treatment C was 75.55±3.85%. Analysis of variance at the 95% confidence level (α0.05) showed that the administration of urea and TSP fertilizers differed significantly (0.05>0.03) on growth, but did not significantly influence (0.05<0.58) on the survival of vaname shrimp larvae.

Abstract

Pangkil Village is one of the areas located on the coast of Bintan Island, Teluk Bintan District. This island has an aquatic ecosystem with abundant marine resources, one of which is the mangrove ecosystem. Mangroves are the main supporting ecosystem for life activities in coastal areas that play an important role in maintaining the balance of environmental biological cycles. This study aims to determine the condition, distribution and density level of mangroves in the waters of Pangkil Village. This research was conducted in February-March 2021. The research method is purposive sampling, which means that the research station points are chosen intentionally based on the consideration of the condition of the existence of mangroves or the density of mangroves. The research station points were determined as many as 8 stations, at each station consisting of transects and at each transect consisting of 3 sample plot plots (Transect Line Plot). The density level data was collected using a line transect measuring 10x102 which was drawn from the sea to the land and the distribution of mangroves using lansat-8 imagery. The level of mangrove density in the waters of Pangkil Village is still quite good. The results of the research on the level of mangrove density in the waters of Pangkil Village are classified as good with the distribution of mangrove areas in the waters of Pangkil Village covering an area of 40.23 ha, with an average density level of 1,033 ind/ha per station to 1,733 ind/ha. with medium and solid status based on the Decree of the Minister of the Environment No. 201 year 2004.

Abstract

Phytoplankton is a bio-indicator of fertility in waters. This study aims to determine the impact of detergent and pesticide waste on the phytoplankton community structure in in tilapia aquaculture media. The phytoplankton identification stage was carried out at the MIPA Laboratory Almuslim University. The parameters studied were phytoplankton abundance, diversity index, uniformity index, dominance index, and water quality parameters. The results of this study showed that detergent and pesticide waste at the end of the study had caused a decrease in the abundance value of phytoplankton by 3,250 individual/L and 3,750 individual/L. In the control treatment, the highest phytoplankton composition was dominated by Chaetoceros sp., while the pesticide and detergent treatments were dominated by Golenkenia sp. and Microcystis sp. Exposure to detergent and pesticide waste reduced the diversity index value, the phytoplankton uniformity index value. At the beginning of the study, it has a moderate diversity index (H '= 2.485–3.072), while at the end of the study it shows low diversity (H' = 2.111–2.375). Furthermore, at the beginning and at the end of the study there was a decrease in the uniformity index value (E = 0.87–1.01) and (H '= 0.88–0.94).

Abstract

Skeletonema costatum one type of phytoplankton commonly cultivated in the shrimp hatchery (Penaeus monodon Fabr.). Plankton S. costatum has a high nutrient content, small size is used as a natural feed of tiger shrimp larvae, especially in the zoea to mysis stadia. The aim of this research is to know the effect of inorganic fertilizer (NPK+Silicate) with dosage of 5 ppm, 15 ppm and 20 ppm to the density of S. costatum on tiger shrimp. The study was conducted for 2 weeks in July 2011 at UPTD Balai Benih Ikan Pantai Muna, Ghonebalano village, Duruka district, Muna regency, Southeast Sulawesi. The experiment used a 3-liter volume on stoples, a salinity water of 20 ppm. The study used Completely Randomized Design (RAL) with NPK and Silicate treated fertilizer with 5 ppm, 10 ppm (control), 15 ppm and 20 ppm with 3 replications. The initial density of S. costatum was 10,000 cells mL-1 per unit. The data were analyzed by ANOVA using IBM SPSS Statistic 22. The results showed that inorganic fertilizer application (NPK+Silicate) with different dose gave a very real effect on the density of S. costatum cells. Treatment of 15 ppm fertilizer dosage was significantly different with control and other treatment, average cell density was 121,000 cells mL-1. Based on cell growth, the 15 ppm fertilizer dosage has the best growth with an average cell increase of 1,2705 cells mL-1 day-1.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine fishermen's income using hand line fishing gear in Banawa Village using primary data for 50 respondents representing the entire population of the Fisherman Community in Banawa Village. Data collection was carried out using interviews and documentation methods. The analytical method used is descriptive quantitative. The collected data is processed and presented in tabular form. The study results show that the fishing community in Kampung Banawa still needs a higher understanding of knowledge and technology. This has not reduced the enthusiasm of fishermen in Kampung Banawa to go to sea actively, even though the price of fish in the market could be better. There are differences between hand-line fishermen based on the boat used. Hand line fishermen with rowing boats earn Rp.70,000/week, hand line fishermen using ketinting engine boats Rp.120,000/week, and hand line fishermen using 15PK outboard motors make Rp.200,000/week. Institutions supporting fishermen's income include Fishery Cooperatives, Banking (BNI), and fish markets.
