Abstract

Reading comprehension is a foundational skill in elementary education, yet many students struggle due to limited access to engaging, relevant, and contextual learning materials. Traditional reading resources often lack cultural and environmental relevance, resulting in low student motivation. Integrating local wisdom and ecoliteracy into digital media offers a promising solution to enhance both literacy and character education. This study reports the analysis phase of a broader development project using the ADDIE model, focusing on the design of an e-story book that integrates local wisdom and ecoliteracy to support reading comprehension. The research employed a mixed-methods approach involving 26 fourth-grade students and 2 teachers from two public elementary schools in Ulak Embacang. Data were collected through validated questionnaires and interviews, then analyzed descriptively. Findings indicate a strong need for interactive and contextual digital reading materials. Both students and teachers rated learning objectives, narrative texts, and environmental themes as highly important. While multimedia formats such as PDF and animation were favored, tools like Kahoot and web-based platforms received lower interest. Students also reported limited access to varied reading resources and low engagement with conventional materials. The analysis underscores the urgency of developing culturally responsive and environmentally themed digital media. The proposed e-story book has the potential to improve reading comprehension while fostering ecological awareness and local cultural appreciation among students.

Abstract

This study explores the integration of Prophet Ibrahim's leadership principles into Human Resource Management (HRM) practices within Islamic educational institutions. Prophet Ibrahim is revered for his ethical values and exemplary leadership, which offer insights into developing HRM strategies that align with Islamic values and global HRM standards. A literature review methodology was adopted, drawing on existing academic sources and supporting literature to identify and analyze the leadership principles of Prophet Ibrahim and their relevance to HRM. The findings indicate that Prophet Ibrahim’s leadership principles—such as integrity, justice, obedience, and discipline—provide a strong ethical foundation for HRM practices. These values contribute to fostering an inclusive, fair, and effective organizational culture in Islamic educational institutions. Integrating Prophet Ibrahim’s leadership values into HRM practices ensures alignment with Islamic values while enhancing governance standards. This approach promotes ethical decision-making, equitable management, and discipline, resulting in a holistic HRM framework that balances religious and global benchmarks. The study underscores the relevance of Prophet Ibrahim's leadership principles in shaping HRM practices in Islamic educational institutions. By embedding these principles, institutions can cultivate a values-driven culture that meets both religious and professional standards. Future research should explore practical implementation strategies to enhance HRM effectiveness further.

Abstract

High school students often face academic stress and emotional challenges that undermine their self-regulation and academic resilience—two critical competencies for 21st-century learning. Traditional guidance and counseling services often emphasize remedial approaches rather than fostering personal growth. This study explores the effectiveness of integrating the Humanistic Learning Model (HLM) into school-based counseling to enhance these psychological constructs. A quasi-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design was employed, involving 60 tenth-grade students at MAN 2 Padangsidimpuan, Indonesia. The intervention comprised six HLM-based counseling sessions emphasizing empathy, student autonomy, and reflective dialogue. Validated instruments were used to assess self-regulated learning and academic resilience before and after the intervention. Data were analyzed using paired-sample t-tests, effect size calculations (Cohen’s d), normalized gain (N-Gain), and Pearson correlation. Posttest scores showed significant improvements in both self-regulation (M = 86.92 vs. 71.48; t = 11.82, p .001; d = 1.52) and academic resilience (M = 83.75 vs. 68.67; t = 10.97, p .001; d = 1.41). N-Gain scores (0.62 and 0.59) indicated moderate–high practical improvement. A strong positive correlation (r = 0.68, p .001) was found between gains in both variables. The findings demonstrate that HLM-based counseling is effective in promoting both cognitive (self-regulation) and affective (resilience) development. The model offers a student-centered approach that can enrich school counseling practices by fostering reflective, autonomous, and emotionally resilient learners.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of family financial education and social media on educational investment decisions, with financial literacy and internal locus of control as mediators. The research follows an explanatory design using a survey method. The population consists of 15,530 individuals enrolled in Pamulang University's employee class program. A sample of 375 respondents was selected through proportionate random sampling. Data was collected via an online survey using Google Forms. Partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM), analyzed with SmartPLS version 3.0, was employed to estimate the data. The results indicate that social media and family financial socialization both directly and indirectly influence educational investment decisions. However, family financial socialization did not significantly affect financial literacy, and thus could not mediate educational investment decisions. Internal locus of control emerged as the most significant predictor and mediator, suggesting that psychological factors have a stronger influence than financial knowledge. Furthermore, social media was found to play a key role in enhancing students' financial literacy and internal locus of control. Based on these findings, it is recommended that universities implement financial literacy programs for parents to support family financial education, as well as leverage social media to enhance students' locus of control and financial literacy.

Abstract

Thinking styles represent individuals’ preferred ways of processing and solving problems, which may influence the development of higher-order thinking such as critical thinking. In the digital era, learning environments supported by technology, such as research-based electronic worksheets (e-LKPD), can accommodate diverse thinking styles and foster critical thinking. This study aimed to examine the influence of thinking styles on students’ critical thinking skills in biology learning assisted by e-LKPD. A total of 112 high school students were selected through random sampling. Data were collected using the Yanpiaw Creative-Critical Thinking Styles (YCCTS) instrument and a standardized critical thinking skills test. Regression analysis was employed to measure the relationship between thinking styles and indicators of critical thinking, including interpreting, analyzing, applying, evaluating, and concluding. The regression results indicated a significant relationship between thinking styles and critical thinking skills (p 0.05). The R² values demonstrated strong predictive power across all indicators: interpreting (82.4%), analyzing (85.7%), applying (81.6%), evaluating (85.5%), and concluding (79.9%). Students with dominant critical thinking styles showed higher scores in critical thinking tests compared to those with balanced or creative styles. These findings suggest that thinking styles can serve as predictors of students’ critical thinking performance. Moreover, the use of research-based e-LKPD provides a supportive learning environment that enhances the expression of thinking styles, thereby strengthening critical thinking skills. Integrating digital, research-based learning resources is an effective strategy to align with students’ thinking styles and promote critical thinking in science education.

Abstract

Aqidah Akhlak education is fundamental to character formation in students attending Islamic elementary schools. While character education has been widely studied, there is limited research examining the specific impact of Aqidah Akhlak education on students' moral development in Central Java, Indonesia. This qualitative study employed a case study approach to explore the role of Aqidah Akhlak education in shaping student character. Data were collected through direct observations and semi-structured interviews involving 16 teachers, 150 students, and 50 parents across Islamic elementary schools in the Cilacap, Banjarnegara, Banyumas, and Purbalingga regencies. The data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Findings reveal that Aqidah Akhlak education contributes significantly to students' moral and social character, fostering traits such as honesty, discipline, and mutual respect. Additionally, the active involvement of parents and the surrounding community enhances the effectiveness of moral instruction in schools. The results suggest that Aqidah Akhlak instruction goes beyond religious doctrine, promoting a comprehensive moral framework for young learners. Collaborative efforts between educators, parents, and communities amplify its impact. Aqidah Akhlak education serves as a powerful strategy for character development in Islamic elementary schools. Future efforts should focus on curriculum integration and innovative pedagogical approaches to moral education at an early age.
