Life satisfaction is a critical indicator of democratic governance, reflecting citizens’ well-being and their active participation in societal development. However, prior studies often emphasize government responsibility, neglecting the role of citizen-driven initiatives—particularly in Indigenous contexts such as the Baduy community in Indonesia. This study adopts a narrative literature review method to examine the potential of school-based civic engagement in enhancing life satisfaction among the Baduy people. Relevant peer-reviewed articles published between 2015 and 2024 were sourced from Scopus, ScienceDirect, DOAJ, and Google Scholar. The selection process involved screening, eligibility assessment, and thematic synthesis of 27 studies focused on civic engagement, life satisfaction, and Indigenous well-being. The findings suggest that civic engagement, facilitated through educational institutions, fosters community participation, social cohesion, and cultural preservation. In Indigenous contexts, such as the Baduy community—renowned for their local wisdom, ecological values, and self-reliance—civic practices aligned with traditional norms can enhance subjective well-being. Engagement models involving collaborative education, service learning, and institutional partnerships emerged as promising strategies. School-based civic engagement offers a culturally responsive and sustainable alternative to state-centric development approaches. For the Baduy, integrating civic values into education may strengthen communal identity while promoting life satisfaction. These insights underscore the need for inclusive civic education models tailored to Indigenous contexts, with implications for policymakers, educators, and future research.

This study investigates the effectiveness of simulation and role-play methods in enhancing basic football techniques among elementary school students. A classroom action research approach was employed, involving 28 students from SD Mujahidin Pontianak. The study was conducted over two cycles, with pre- and post-intervention assessments of students' basic football techniques. The interventions utilized simulation and role-play methods, where students engaged in interactive activities to mimic or enact scenarios that develop football skills. Before the intervention, 6 students were categorized as 'less,' 22 as 'sufficient,' with an average score of 63.57, indicating a 'sufficient' proficiency level. Post-intervention, 1 student remained in the 'sufficient' category, while 27 were categorized as 'good,' achieving an improved average score of 79.71. This reflects an 11.26% increase in basic football techniques from cycle 1 to cycle 2. The findings demonstrate that simulation and role-play methods significantly enhance students' engagement and skill acquisition in football techniques. These interactive approaches promote active learning and practical skill application, leading to marked improvements in performance. Simulation and role-play methods effectively improve basic football techniques among elementary students. Teachers are encouraged to adopt these methods to foster skill development and active participation in physical education.

Community-based arts education plays a vital role in cultural preservation, yet it is often shaped by ideological forces. This ethnographic study explores how conservative ideology manifests within the traditional dance education practices of Sanggar Dinda Bestari in South Sumatra, Indonesia, and its implications for pedagogy, cultural identity, and intergenerational transmission. Using a qualitative ethnographic approach, data were collected over three months through participant observation, in-depth interviews with dance instructors, students, and studio managers, and documentation of teaching practices. Thematic analysis was conducted following Braun and Clarke’s framework, with critical discourse analysis used to examine power dynamics and ideological reproduction in dance pedagogy. Findings reveal that conservative ideology is embedded in dance learning through hierarchical teacher-student relationships, sacred framing of traditional repertoires, norms of modesty, and obedience in instruction. While these practices preserve cultural authenticity, they also restrict creative expression and dialogue, particularly among younger learners. Tensions arise between tradition and modernity, as seen in efforts to adapt dance instruction for social media or engage youth participation. Sanggar Dinda Bestari serves as both a site of cultural reproduction and ideological negotiation. While conservative values support continuity and discipline, they may also limit innovation. A hybrid pedagogical model that balances tradition with participatory and adaptive strategies is proposed. This study contributes to broader discourses on how ideology shapes non-formal arts education and offers insights into navigating cultural preservation in the context of globalization and generational change.

This study investigates students’ commognitive processes—the integration of communication and cognition—during problem-based learning (PBL) in mathematics. It is grounded in commognitive theory, which posits that thinking and communication are interdependent. An exploratory descriptive approach was applied at SMA Muhammadiyah Bangkinang, focusing on students in class XI IPA 2. Using purposive sampling, three students representing high, moderate, and low mathematical abilities were selected. Data were collected through written tests, interviews, and documentation. Researcher-developed worksheets and interview protocols, aligned with the four commognitive components—word use, visual mediators, narratives, and routines—were validated by mathematics education experts. Data analysis followed the stages of collection, reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. Findings indicate that high-ability students demonstrated more coherent narratives and consistent application of mathematical routines. Conversely, students with moderate and low abilities exhibited fragmented discourse and less effective use of visual mediators and terminology. The study highlights the role of commognitive factors in shaping students' mathematical discourse across ability levels. It suggests that instructional tools designed with commognitive principles can better support the development of mathematical thinking. These insights contribute to understanding the cognitive-communicative dynamics in mathematics education and inform the design of targeted learning interventions. Ethical approval was obtained, and informed consent was secured from all participants.
