Abstract

Chronic kidney disease patients require dialysis therapy, one of which is hemodialysis. Fatigue is a side effect of hemodialysis. 71-92% of patients experience fatigue during hemodialysis. Fatigue is caused by the length of the hemodialysis process, anemia, uremia syndrome, and a decrease in blood pressure due to the effects of hemodialysis. Fatigue causes decreased concentration, emotional disturbances, and sleep disturbances which can affect daily activities and quality of life. The purpose of this research is to determine the effect of foot massage in reducing fatigue in hemodialysis patients. The research method uses quantitative descriptive with case studies. The sampling technique uses purposive sampling with a sample size of one person. The research measuring tool used the Functional Assessment Chronic Illness Therapy (FACIT) Fatigue Scale. The patient underwent three interventions, each intervention was carried out for 15 minutes during intra-hemodialysis. The results of the study showed that there was a reduction in fatigue from a moderate level to a mild level, which means that foot massage was able to reduce fatigue in chronic kidney failure patients who were undergoing hemodialysis. This is because foot massage can increase blood circulation which can increase the supply of oxygen and energy to the body and speed up the removal of metabolic waste from the body so that complaints of fatigue are reduced.

Abstract

Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), caused by the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) resulted over 7 million deaths worldwide. Comprehensive strategies are necessary to combat this pandemic, especially vaccination to mitigate further infection and devastation. The development of vaccines hinges upon the utilization of immunogenic proteins from the SARS-CoV-2 virus, with particular emphasis on the receptor-binding domain (RBD) located within the spike glycoprotein’s subunit 1. This protein plays a key role in the virus’s interaction with host cells via ACE2 receptor to infect the host along with the subunit 2 to mediate the cell membrane fusion. While there are multiple vaccines in existence, there is a requirement to create more affordable and accessible vaccine alternatives, especially in developing countries. Potential improvements can be implemented within the vaccine development paradigm, including the exploration of recombinant protein-based vaccines as a viable alternative. In the present study, we optimized the RBD gene sequence as the critical step to construct a recombinant plasmid for heterologous prokaryotic protein expression in Escherichia coli BL21(DE3). The optimized codon then inserted into the plasmid vector pET-15b and constructed a recombinant plasmid for transformation into cell host by heat-shock method. The study was evaluated and validated through colony PCR, plasmid isolation, and sequencing. These findings offering a foundational basis for further research in the expression and purification of RBD SARS-CoV-2 protein in E. coli BL21(DE3) as a candidate for subunit recombinant protein vaccine or diagnostic tool in COVID-19 research.

Abstract

Final year students have academic interests such as a lot of assignments and have many demands from themselves and from external demands which causes students to be more susceptible to experiencing stress. Prolonged and untreated stress can cause physical and psychological disorders. Stress can be treated pharmacologically and non-pharmacologically. There are several non-pharmacological ways that can be done to reduce stress levels, namely progressive muscle relaxation therapy and music therapy. This research generally aims to determine the effect of progressive muscle relaxation therapy and natural sound music therapy on the stress levels of final semester students. This research uses a quantitative approach using a pre-experimental design. The total sample was 8 people taken using accidental sampling technique, based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. The data collection technique uses the PSS questionnaire. The analysis used the Wilcoxon test. The results of the bivariate test showed that there was an effect of progressive muscle relaxation techniques and natural sound music therapy on the stress level of final semester students with a significant value of 0.012. The health sector, especially nursing, is expected to be able to apply progressive muscle relaxation techniques and natural sound music therapy to reduce stress levels.

Abstract

One indicator that can show the well-being of a country's population is the number of maternal and infant deaths. Hemorrhage, hypertension during pregnancy, and diseases of the circulatory system are the leading causes of maternal mortality. One of the factors that contribute to a mother's ability to identify early signs of pregnancy danger and conduct early treatment is her knowledge. One way to encourage health promotion is to use an appropriate method, namely brainstorming. This study aims to improve the knowledge of pregnant women about the danger signs of pregnancy before and after receiving health promotion through the Brain Storming method. In this study, researchers used a pre-experimental design with a one group pretest postest design. This study involved pregnant women consisting of 30 people to undergo pregnancy checks in the Cipeundeuy Health Center area through purposive sampling method. In collecting data, author used a questionnaire which was used to ask what pregnant women knew about danger signs that might occur during pregnancy. The marginal homogeneity test was used to analyze the data. The results showed that the brainstorming method was effective for improving the knowledge of pregnant women, with a p-value: 0.000 (p < 0.05). Brainstorming can increase maternal knowledge because in its implementation the client participates in expressing opinions and experiences. Therefore, health centers can use the brainstorming method to improve clients' knowledge about danger signs during pregnancy to prevent complications.
