Abstract

This study aims to analyze the representation of moral values in the film God Allows Me to Sin using a descriptive qualitative approach with a semiotic perspective of Roland Barthes. The focus of the analysis is directed at visual and verbal symbols, codes, and signs that build moral meaning through characters, storylines, and other cinematic elements. Data were obtained through literature studies, direct observation of films, and documentation, and were analyzed based on the denotative and connotative meanings of the signs in the film. The results of the study show that the film represents moral values such as repentance and repentance, compassion and sacrifice, and justice and consequences through lighting, water symbols, body language, dialogue, and symbolic objects such as mirrors. These findings have significant implications for Indonesian language learning, especially in strengthening students' understanding of multimodal texts and developing character values through audiovisual media. This study suggests the integration of film semiotic studies in learning to improve students' visual literacy, critical thinking, and moral awareness.

Abstract

This article analyzes the satirical meaning in The Israel Dream, a song by Mushtofa Al-Mumri, using Schleiermacher’s hermeneutic approach. Although the song appears to support Zionist narratives, it actually delivers sharp criticism against an oppressive ideology that positions the Islamic world as the primary nemesis of the Greater Israel project. The study aims to uncover how linguistic structures and symbolism in the lyrics convey hidden messages filled with socio-political critique. A qualitative descriptive method is used, applying both grammatical and psychological interpretation to examine the text and the composer’s intent. The findings reveal that the lyrics employ irony, metaphor, and narrative impersonation to deconstruct Zionist propaganda from a fabricated internal voice, awakening listeners to its underlying dangers. The song is not merely an artistic expression, but also serves as a form of cultural resistance and spiritual consciousness. This study affirms that music can be a powerful reflective medium in opposing hegemony especially when that hegemony frames Islam as its ideological nemesis.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan bentuk-bentuk gaya bahasa dan faktor-faktor sosial yang memengaruhi komunikasi Generasi Z dalam podcast YouTube WKWK Project, khususnya episode “Bocah-Bocah Kosong.” Perilaku linguistik Gen Z menunjukkan kecenderungan menggunakan bahasa kasual dan non-standar sebagai sarana mengekspresikan identitas dan kedekatan sosial di era digital. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik amati dan catat untuk menganalisis ujaran yang ditranskripsi dari video tersebut. Analisis didasarkan pada teori gaya bahasa Martin Joos dan faktor-faktor sosial Janet Holmes, mengikuti tahapan pengumpulan data, reduksi, penyajian, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa gaya kasual dan intim merupakan bentuk yang paling dominan digunakan, yang mencerminkan hubungan sosial yang dekat dan spontanitas alami Gen Z. Faktor-faktor sosial seperti partisipan, topik, dan fungsi komunikatif juga memengaruhi variasi gaya. Hasil ini menekankan bahwa gaya bahasa Gen Z pada platform digital berfungsi tidak hanya sebagai alat komunikasi tetapi juga sebagai representasi identitas linguistik dan sosial di ruang publik daring .

Abstract

This study explores the strategies and challenges faced by six foreign teachers in learning the Indonesian language at an international school in Semarang, Central Java. Foreign teachers are increasingly playing significant roles in education in Indonesia, yet they often encounter difficulties in adapting to local linguistic and cultural norms. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through semi-structured interviews and field notes. The findings reveal that the main challenges experienced by foreign teachers include differences between formal and informal language use, pronunciation difficulties, grammatical complexity, dialect variations, limited opportunities for practice, and a tendency toward code-switching. To overcome these challenges, the teachers employed strategies such as community support, immersive learning through real-life practice, attending formal classes, self-study, and using language applications. Among these strategies, community support and immersive learning proved to be the most effective in enhancing fluency and cultural understanding, while formal classes provided a strong foundation in grammar and vocabulary. This study highlights the importance of combining immersive experiences with structured learning to support successful language acquisition for foreign teachers in Indonesia. The findings are expected to provide practical contributions for educational institutions in designing language support programs and promoting more inclusive cultural integration.

Abstract

The rapid era of globalization is one of the factors causing the fading of moral values and character of children in Indonesia. This study aims to describe the value of mutual cooperation in Tere Liye's novel Bulan and its relevance as a literary learning tool. This type of research is descriptive qualitative. The research data is in the form of quotations of words, phrases, clauses and sentences that contain the character values of mutual cooperation. The novel Bulan by Tere Liye is the source of data for this research. The data was obtained using reading, note-taking, and documentation techniques. Validation techniques used data source triangulation and semantic validity techniques. Data analysis used content analysis and dialectical analysis techniques. The results of this study show that the novel Bulan contains four components of mutual cooperation consisting of the values of mutual cooperation and cooperation, the values of tolerance and cross-cultural collaboration, the values of social responsibility, and the values of solidarity and friendship. The novel Bulan is relevant to the Learning Outcomes (CP) in the Indonesian Language subject content in grade IX of Junior High School.

Abstract

This study examines the dimensions of politeness of speech acts in the interaction of coastal tourism management communities in Bimorejo Village, Banyuwangi. The main focus of this study is to reveal the forms of politeness of speech acts and the factors underlying community-based tourism (CBT). With an exploratory descriptive approach through observation, interviews, and documentation, it was found that the forms of speech acts used include locution, illocution, and perlocution, which are influenced by social, cultural, and pragmatic contexts. The results of this study provide important insights for community-based tourism management in Indonesia and encourage a broader understanding of the role of language in strengthening the tourism sector.
