Abstract

Penelitian ini menyajikan sistem Smart Scarecrow untuk mengatasi permasalahan hama burung di sektor pertanian dengan memanfaatkan teknologi Internet of Things (IoT). Penelitian-penelitian sebelumnya terkait orang-orangan sawah berbasis IoT masih memiliki keterbatasan, terutama pada aspek pemantauan dan pengendalian secara real-time sehingga fungsinya belum optimal. Sistem yang diusulkan menggunakan sensor Passive Infrared (PIR) dan ESP32-Cam untuk mendeteksi pergerakan burung serta menyediakan pemantauan secara langsung. Sistem ini ditenagai oleh energi surya melalui Solar Charge Controller (SCC), serta dilengkapi motor servo yang menggerakkan objek penghasil suara seperti tali dan kaleng untuk mengusir burung. Seluruh sistem dapat dipantau dan dikendalikan dari jarak jauh melalui aplikasi mobile Blynk. Meskipun penelitian ini tidak mengevaluasi tingkat efektivitas pengusiran burung, fokus utama penelitian adalah pada perancangan alat yang otomatis, hemat energi, dan dapat diakses secara jarak jauh. Sistem Smart Scarecrow ini diharapkan dapat mendukung konsep smart farming serta berkontribusi dalam pengembangan solusi pertanian berkelanjutan berbasis IoT.

Abstract

This study demonstrates the comparison of five well-known gradient operators —Sobel, Prewitt, Roberts, Scharr, and Laplacian of Gaussian (LoG)—using the classical technique of Otsu thresholding to detect microscopic porosities in SMAW welds of ship structures. This was done using 33 images of micrographs taken at 25x magnification, with all images preprocessed using standardization techniques (grayscale conversion, Gaussian filtering, and normalization), and the results were compared using six different performance evaluation criteria —Precision, Recall, F-Measure, Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR), Edge Co-occurrence Matrix (ECM), and Matthews Correlation Coefficient (MCC). The results indicate that the Sobel operator produced the largest PSNR value (≈42.5 dB) indicating that the Sobel operator provided the greatest fidelity in image quality. Additionally, the Scharr operator had the largest MCC (0.94) and ECM correlation (0.99), indicating that it provided the greatest reliability and coherence in texture. The Roberts operator produced the largest F-measure (0.23), indicating that it provided a good balance between the two evaluation metrics. In summary, the Scharr operator demonstrated the most consistent and interpretable performance among the three performance evaluation metrics, providing both the best visual fidelity and structural texture stability. Therefore, the proposed methodology represents a reproducible and computationally-efficient reference for automated microscopic inspections and smart NDT in maritime welding applications.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the user experience (UX) of the Afresto Learning Management System (LMS) at SMP Negeri 2 Kuta using the User Experience Questionnaire (UEQ) method and in-depth interviews. As a digital learning support system, Afresto's effectiveness depends on the quality of experience perceived by its users. This research employs a mixed-method approach with a sample of 269 students and 16 teachers determined through stratified random sampling. The results reveal a significant User Experience Gap (UX Gap) between the two user groups. Teachers rated the system positively across all dimensions (Good to Above Average), finding it helpful for administrative tasks. Conversely, students rated the system negatively (Bad to Below Average), particularly in the Dependability (0.72) and Attractiveness (0.65) dimensions. These findings indicate that while the system is functional for teachers, it suffers from performance issues (errors during peak loads) and an unappealing interface for students. Recommendations include server optimization (load balancing), UI modernization, navigation redesign (task-centric dashboard), and the implementation of gamification to enhance student motivation.

Abstract

Effective maintenance is an essential factor in ensuring the reliability and availability of equipment, especially for heavy equipment that operates intensively. This study aims to optimize the maintenance interval of excavator units by considering the value of reliability against time, to obtain a balance between reducing the risk of failure and maximizing operational availability. Historical data of time between failures (TBF) and time to repair (TTR) were collected from a PC 200 excavator unit operating in a coal mine in South Kalimantan from January 2024 to June 2025. Initial analysis was carried out using a Pareto diagram to identify critical systems, followed by failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA) to determine repair priorities. TBF and TTR modeling were tested with four probability distributions (Normal, Lognormal, Weibull, and Exponential) using the Anderson–Darling goodness-of-fit test, with the result that both data follow a Lognormal distribution. Distribution parameters were used to calculate mean time between failures (MTBF), mean time to repair (MTTR), the reliability function R(t), and availability. The results show an increase in availability from 96.15% to 96.59% after implementing the selected distribution, as well as a decrease in MTTR from 11.21 hours to 9.92 hours. Analysis of the relationship between reliability and availability resulted in an optimal maintenance interval in the range of 230–245 hours, when reliability remains above 90% and availability is around 96%.

Abstract

The Overall Thermal Transfer Value (OTTV) is a parameter used to evaluate the thermal performance of building envelopes in controlling heat transfer due to conduction and solar radiation. Solar radiation from glass elements can increase the heat load in mosque spaces that have relatively large openings and large volumes. Therefore, optimising glass materials is an important strategy for improving the energy efficiency and thermal comfort of buildings in tropical environments. This study aims to determine the OTTV value of the Baiturrohman Mosque in Jember using building design documents and SNI 6389:2020 requirements. In addition, this study also investigates how the type of glass selected affects the reduction in OTTV value. The method used is quantitative-qualitative, and the experimental case study method is used to compare two types of glass in the same building configuration. The variables analysed include the thermal transmittance (U-value) and shading coefficient (SC) of the glass as the main parameters that affect the amount of heat radiation entering through the façade.The calculation results show that the use of 5 mm clear glass with a U-value of 5.8 W/m²K and SC 0.97 produces an OTTV value of 36.64 W/m². Next, a material substitution was carried out using Panasap Blue Green glass with a U-value of 5.8 W/m²K but an SC of 0.67. This change resulted in an OTTV value of 30.58 W/m². There was a decrease of 6.06 W/m² or about 16.54% compared to the initial condition. This decrease shows that the reduction in the SC value directly contributes to the reduction of solar heat radiation entering through the building envelope, even though the thermal conductivity value of the glass did not change. The results of this study prove that selecting the right type of glass can be an effective strategy in optimising the OTTV value of mosques without requiring structural changes to the building facade. This strategy is relevant for application in public buildings in tropical regions to support energy efficiency and improve the thermal comfort of worship spaces.

Abstract

Pelepah kelapa sawit merupakan limbah lignoselulosa yang potensial sebagai bahan baku serat alam untuk berbagai aplikasi industri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis komposisi kimia serat pelepah kelapa sawit, meliputi kadar Neutral Detergent Fiber (NDF), Acid Detergent Fiber (ADF), hemiselulosa, selulosa, dan lignin menggunakan metode Van Soest, serta mengidentifikasi struktur kristalinitasnya menggunakan X-Ray Diffraction (XRD). Serat pelepah sawit diekstraksi secara mekanik, kemudian dikeringkan dan dihaluskan. Analisis Van Soest dilakukan secara bertahap menggunakan larutan neutral detergent dan acid detergent. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa serat pelepah sawit mengandung Dari hasil penelitian dapat diketahui bahwa serat pelepah kelapa sawit mempunyai kandungan tertinggi pada serat variasi N5H dengan selulosa 78,63%, Lignin 9,12 % dan hemiselulosa 12,25 %. Analisis XRD pada sudut 2θ menunjukkan puncak difraksi bahwa serat pelepah sawit memiliki struktur yang dominan amorf dengan nilai kristalinitas 63,02%. Morfologi pada permukaan serat pelepah kelapa sawit diamati serat terlihat lebih bersih akibat perlakuan 10% NaOH dan H2O2. Berdasarkan hasil uji van soest dan analisis XRD menunjukkan bahwa setelah dilakukan perlakuan penelitian ini memberikan data dasar yang penting untuk pengembangan serat pelepah sawit sebagai penguat material komposit yang ramah lingkungan.
