Abstract

The low learning motivation in students studying Indonesian language is often encountered in a school using international curriculum. This was also found at XYZ school, where the issue encountered is of a particular one. The Indonesian language subject has led students to experience stress, moving out to language B course, and even moving into a new school. This is a case-study research involving 3 respondents and 7 participants. This case-study research was conducted during the Covid 19 pandemic; thus, all data collection was done online. The techniques used to collect data include open questionnaires, in-depth interviews, observations, and document reviews. Data validity was tested through data triangulation. The results showed that internal factors, namely student’s perspective on Indonesian language and external factors which are family background, curriculum policies and teacher quality greatly affect to students’ motivation. The role of parents, teachers, as well as curriculum policies are crucial to increase the students’ learning motivation in studying Indonesian language.BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRACT: Rendahnya motivasi belajar bahasa Indonesia siswa di sekolah dengan kurikulum asing merupakan masalah yang sering ditemui. Hal tersebut juga ditemui di sekolah XYZ, namun permasalahan yang ditemui di sekolah XYZ sangat khusus, karena pelajaran bahasa Indonesia mengakibatkan siswa mengalami stres, pindah ke kelas BI B, dan bahkan pindah sekolah. Penilitian ini merupakan penelitian studi kasus yang melibatkan 3 responden dan 7 partisipan. Penelitian studi kasus ini dilakukan dalam situasi pandemi Covid 19 dan semua pengumpulan data dilakukan secara daring. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan kuesioner terbuka, wawancara mendalam, pengamatan, dan kajian dokumen. Keabsahan data diuji melalui triangulasi data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa faktor internal, yaitu perspektif siswa tentang pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia dan faktor eksternal yaitu latar belakang keluarga, kebijakan kurikulum, dan cara mengajar guru sangat mempengaruhi motivasi belajar bahasa Indonesia siswa. Peranan orang tua, guru, dan kebijakan kurikulum sangat penting untuk meningkatkan motivasi belajar bahasa Indonesia pada siswa.

Abstract

Education is one of the formal organizations that serves to increase students' knowledge, it is also a place to obtain various knowledge as provisions for the future.The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of servant leadership, organizational citizenship behavior OCB, Perceived Organizational Support (POS), well-being on the Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB). The research subjects are 39 teachers teaching in SMK Mudita Vocational School, in which Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) was identified. The research design in the of path analysis with a cumulative approach. The applied method is in SmartPL 32 program. The research instrument is through distributing questionnaire and by interviewing the principal and teachers of SMK Mudita Vocational School in Singkawang City. The sampling technique used is by gathering data from the entire population. This technique as census, the results   research shows that: servant leadership positively influences Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB), Perceived Organizational Support positively affects Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) Well-being positively affects Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) positively.BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRACT: Pendidikan merupakan salah satu organisasi formal yang berfungsi untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan siswa, juga merupakan tempat untuk memperoleh berbagai ilmu pengetahuan sebagai bekal untuk dikemudian hari. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui Pengaruh servant leadership, organizational citizenship behavior OCB, Perceived Organizational Support (POS) ,Well-Being terhadap terhadap Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) guru pada sekolah SMK Mudita dikota Singkawang. Adapun subjek penelitian adalah 39 guru yang mengajar di sebuah Sekolah SMK Swasta di kota singkawang, dimana teridentifikasi Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) didalamnya.mengunakan desain penelitian adalah Desain penelitian analisis jalur dengan cara pendekatan kumulatif. Metode yang digunakan dalam program SmartPL32. Istrumen penelitian adalah membagi kuesioner dan wawancara kepala sekolah dan guru SMK Mudita Kota Singkawang.Teknik sampel yang digunakan dalam pengambil data dari keseluruhan jumlah populasi. Teknik ini disebut sensus, Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa Servant Leadership mempengaruhi Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) secara positif, Perceived Organizational Support mempengaruhi Organizational Citizenship Behavior(OCB) secara positif, Well-being mempengaruhi Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) secara positif.

Abstract

To prepare the students with the demand of life in the future, teachers must continuously develop mastery of new knowledge, skills, competencies, and aptitudes. Education has entered a period of profound disruptive transition. It requires teachers to have organizational citizenship behavior (OCB). The purpose of this quantitative study is to examine the effect of servant leadership, emotional intelligence, and purpose in life on organizational citizenship behavior in XYZ Early Childhood Years and Elementary School. Fifty-five teachers of XYZ Early Childhood Years and Elementary School completed the online questionnaires. Path analysis through PLS SEM method is employed to test the proposed hypotheses. The results showed that servant leadership has positive effect on purpose in life and organizational citizenship behavior. It was found that emotional intelligence has positive effect on purpose in life. Purpose in life also has positive effect on organizational citizenship behavior. In contrast, it was found that emotional intelligence does not have positive effect on organizational citizenship behavior.Bahasa Indonesia Abstrak: Siswa perlu dipersiapkan untuk menghadapi tuntutan kehidupan masa mendatang, guru harus terus mengembangkan penguasaan pengetahuan, keterampilan, kompetensi, dan bakat baru. Pendidikan telah memasuki masa transisi yang penuh disrupsi. Hal ini menuntut guru untuk memiliki organizational citizenship behavior (OCB). Tujuan dari penelitian kuantitatif ini adalah untuk menguji pengaruh servant leadership, emotional intelligence dan purpose in life terhadap organizational citizenship behavior di TK-SD XYZ. Lima puluh lima guru TK dan SD XYZ menyelesaikan kuesioner online. Perhitungan penelitian menggunakan analisis jalur melalui metode Partial Least Square-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS SEM) digunakan untuk menguji hipotesis yang diajukan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa servant leadership berpengaruh positif terhadap organizational citizenship behavior. Ditemukan juga bahwa servant leadership berpengaruh positif terhadap purpose in life dan emotional intelligence berpengaruh positif terhadap purpose in life. Purpose in life juga berpengaruh positif terhadap organizational citizenship behavior. Sebaliknya, emotional intelligence tidak berpengaruh positif terhadap organizational citizenship behavior.

Abstract

This descriptive quantitative study aims to explore Christian educators' mental health condition and well-being in Indonesia during the Covid-19 pandemic. Data collection was carried out from March 30 to April 24, 2021. The participants of this study are Christian educators who either teach at Christian, public, or national private schools. The findings show that Christian educators in Indonesia have a high vocational passion (89%), good mental health (97.6%), high level of spiritual well-being (94.8%), relatively good social well-being (82, 8%), economic well-being is quite good (79.4%). In comparison, only 52.8% participants who have high health well-being and 66% who has high life satisfaction. The chisquare test shows that the components of well-being (spiritual, economic, social, and health) significantly affect the level of mental health of educators. The main challenges faced by educators are learning to support technology; teaching and learning activities that are deemed not optimal; attitudes and behavior of students who are less disciplined, polite, cooperative, and motivated; lack of relationships and interactions between teachers and teachers as well as fellow students; and increased workloads and hours leading to physical and mental health exhaustion. The main implication is for the decisionmakers of Christian educational institutions in Indonesia to pay special attention to the health well-being of educators who have experienced physical exhaustion by evaluating and adjusting the expectations and workloads, and developing a well-being ecosystem at school.Bahasa Indonesia Abstrak: Penelitian kuantitatif deskriptif ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kondisi kesehatan mental dan well-being pendidik Kristen di Indonesia selama masa pandemic Covid-19. Pengambilan data dilakukan pada 30 Maret sampai dengan 24 April 2021. Peserta penelitian ini adalah pendidik Kristen yang mengajar di sekolah Kristen, negeri, atau swasta nasional. Hasil temuan menunjukkan pendidik Kristen di Indonesia memiliki vocational passion yang tinggi (89%), kesehatan mental yang baik (97,6%), tingkat well-being spiritual tinggi (94,8%), well-being sosial relatif baik (82,8%), well-being ekonomi cukup baik (79,4%), sedangkan well-being kesehatan hanya 52,8% yang tinggi. Sebanyak 66% pendidik memiliki kepuasan hidup yang tinggi. Uji chi square menunjukkan bahwa komponen well-being (spiritual, ekonomi, sosial, dan kesehatan) mempunyai hubungan yang signifikan dengan tingkat kesehatan mental para pendidik. Tantangan utama yang dihadapi pendidik adalah masalah: teknologi pendukung pembelajaran; kegiatan belajar mengajar yang dirasa tidak maksimal; sikap dan perilaku murid yang kurang disiplin, sopan, kooperatif, dan motivasi; kurangnya relasi dan interaksi antara guru dan guru serta sesama murid; dan beban dan jam kerja yang bertambah yang menyebabkan kelelahan kesehatan fisik dan mental. Implikasi utama dari temuan ini bagi para pengambil keputusan lembaga pendidikan Kristen di Indonesia untuk memberikan perhatian khusus well-being kesehatan dari para pendidik yang telah mengalami kelelahan fisik dengan mengevaluasi dan menyesuaikan ekspektasi, beban kerja, dan jam kerja yang jelas dan membangun ekosistem well-being di sekolah.

Abstract

Leadership style can not only shape employee behavior by influencing employee attitudes, such as their satisfaction, commitment, and well-being at work, but also can shape performance such as job involvement through motivational construction. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between servant leadership, workplace spirituality and employee engagement in an analytical-critical manner and comprehensively based on the primary and secondary data available at the Faculty of Liberal Arts, University X. This study used an approach with the research subject of 40 lecturers; permanent, and 5 part time. The data processing method is descriptive method. From the results of the study it can be concluded that servant leadership in FLA has a positive relationship and influence; the state of workplace spirituality in FLA has a positive influence that is built personally (lecturers), and is supported by servant leadership based on the truth of God's Word indicating that the condition of workplace spirituality has good results and  employee engagement in FLA occurs because of the relationship between leaders who apply servant leadership style and Jesus Christ as a role model.Bahasa Indonesia Abstrak: Gaya kepemimpinan tidak hanya dapat membentuk perilaku karyawan dengan mempengaruhi sikap karyawan, seperti kepuasan, komitmen, dan kesejahteraan mereka di tempat kerja, tetapi juga dapat membentuk kinerja seperti keterlibatan kerja melalui konstruksi motivasi. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis hubungan  antara servant leadership, spiritualitas tempat kerja dan employee engagement secara analitis-kritis dan komprehensif berdasarkan data primer dan data sekunder yang tersedia di Fakultas Liberal Arts, Universitas X. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan subjek penelitian 40 dosen tetap dan 5 dosen paruh waktu. Metode pengolahan datanya yaitu metode deskriptif. Dari hasil penelitian diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa servant leadership di FLA memiliki hubungan dan pengaruh yang positif, keadaan spiritualitas tempat kerja di FLA membawa pengaruh yang positif yang dibangun secara pribadi (dosen), dan didukung oleh praksis servant leadership pimpinan fakultas berazaskan kebenaran firman Tuhan yang menunjukkan bahwa kondisi spiritualitas tempat kerja memiliki hasil yang baik serta keadaan employee engagement di FLA terjadi karena adanya keterkaitan antara pimpinan yang menerapkan gaya servant leadership dengan Yesus Kristus sebagai role model.

Abstract

Critical thinking ability needs to be developed from an early age, so it is very important to find an effective learning model to foster critical thinking skills. The learning model being tested is the Problem-Based Learning and the Cooperative Learning Model Think-Pair-Share (TPS) Type. This study aims to see the effect of the learning model reviewed from learning style on critical thinking skills. This research was conducted in SD ABC with a population of 153 students in grade II. This research method is quantitative research using quasi-experimental. Data analysis was tested using normality and homogeneity tests. Hypothesis testing using two-way ANOVA and Tukey's test. The conclusion obtained is that there are differences in the results of critical thinking skills between students who received learning with Problem-Based Learning and Cooperative Learning Model TPS Type with a significance level of 0.017, there is no difference in students' critical thinking skills with auditory learning styles between those who received learning with Problem-Based Learning and Cooperative Learning Model TPS Type with a significance value of 0.211, and there is no difference in students' critical thinking skills with kinesthetic learning styles between those who received learning with Problem-Based Learning and Cooperative Learning Model TPS Type with a significance value of 0.421.Bahasa Indonesia Abstrak: Kemampuan berpikir kritis perlu dikembangkan sejak dini, maka sangat penting untuk menemukan model pembelajaran yang efektif memupuk kemampuan berpikir kritis. Model pembelajaran yang diujicobakan adalah Model Pembelajaran Berbasis Masalah dan Model Pembelajaran Kooperatif tipe ThinkPair-Share (TPS). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat pengaruh model pembelajaran ditinjau dari gaya belajar terhadap kemampuan berpikir kritis. Penelitian ini dilakukan di SD ABC dengan jumlah populasi 153 siswa di kelas II SD. Metode penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan menggunakan kuasi eksperimen. Analisis data diuji menggunakan uji normalitas dan homogenitas. Pengujian hipotesis menggunakan ANAVA dua jalur serta uji Tukey. Kesimpulan yang didapatkan adalah adanya perbedaan hasil kemampuan berpikir kritis antara siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran dengan Model Pembelajaran Berbasis Masalah dan Model Pembelajaran Kooperatif tipe TPS dengan taraf signifikansi 0,017, tidak ada perbedaan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa dengan gaya belajar auditori antara siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran dengan Model Pembelajaran Berbasis Masalah dan Model Pembelajaran Kooperatif tipe ThinkPair-Share dengan nilai signifikansi 0,211, dan tidak ada perbedaan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa dengan gaya belajar kinestetik antara yang mendapatkan pembelajaran dengan Model Pembelajaran Berbasis Masalah dan Model Pembelajaran Kooperatif tipe Think-Pair-Share dengan nilai signifikansi 0,421.

Abstract

Nowadays it is not sufficient enough for ELT educationalists to introduce their learners to L2 reading enterprises through one-way rigid trajectory; comprehension-based reading activities. Meanwhile, EFL learners critically demand more interactive, enjoyable, and comprehensive L2 reading learning enterprises. One of the exact representations of this coveted reading approach is manifested in the form of an extensive reading strategy. It is plausibly repudiated that extensive reading strategy can significantly foster EFL learners’ overall reading skills, vocabulary knowledge, and reading volition. This present small-scale qualitative study was enacted as one of the proactive attempts to profoundly investigate English Education Master Students’ perceptions on extensive reading strategy. To fulfill this main research objectivity, 15 English Education Master Students enrolling in Sanata Dharma University, Yogyakarta were invited to fill out the 10 items of the online Likert-scale questionnaire. 3 random interviewees were also selected from similar samplings to record their responses in correspondence with the 5 online open-ended written narrative inquiry questions. The research results unveiled that the majority of English Education Master Students have transformed into more competent L2 readers since they vigorously engaged in extensive reading activities and efficiently take better management over their extensive reading enterprises.   Bahasa Indonesia Abstrak: Dewasa ini tidak cukup bagi pengajar Bahasa Inggris untuk memperkenalkan peserta didik mereka ke usaha membaca bahasa kedua melalui lintasan kaku satu arah; kegiatan membaca berbasis pemahaman. Sementara itu, pelajar Bahasa Inggris secara kritis menuntut pembelajaran membaca bahasa kedua yang lebih interaktif, menyenangkan, dan komprehensif. Salah satu representasi tepat dari pendekatan membaca yang didambakan ini diwujudkan dalam bentuk strategi membaca ekstensif. Masuk akal untuk diakui bahwa strategi membaca ekstensif dapat secara luar biasa mendorong keterampilan membaca, pengetahuan kosakata, dan kemauan membaca pelajar Bahasa Inggris secara keseluruhan. Studi kualitatif skala kecil ini dilakukan sebagai salah satu upaya proaktif untuk menyelidiki secara mendalam mengenai persepsi Siswa Magister Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris tentang strategi membaca ekstensif. Untuk mewujudkan objektivitas penelitian utama ini, 15 Mahasiswa Magister Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris yang mendaftar di Universitas Sanata Dharma, Yogyakarta diundang untuk mengisi 10 item kuesioner skala likert online. 3 orang yang diwawancarai secara acak juga dipilih dari sampel yang sama untuk membagikan tanggapan mereka sesuai dengan 5 pertanyaan inkuiri naratif tertulis terbuka secara online. Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa sebagian besar Siswa Magister Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris telah berubah menjadi pembaca bahasa kedua yang lebih kompeten karena mereka giat terlibat dalam kegiatan membaca ekstensif dan secara efisien mengambil manajemen yang lebih baik atas usaha membaca ekstensif mereka.

Abstract

Christian teachers play a critical role in the implementation of holistic learning as the vision of Christian education is to transform students’ lives holistically. However, there seems to be a subtle debate in the implementation of holistic learning to younger students, whether it is possible or not. Arguing that it is not only possible, but it is a must, this study explores the implementation of holistic Christian education for young learners. This study has found that the implementation of holistic learning for younger learners requires Christian teachers to provide authentic and inclusive learning, and to facilitate a learning environment for younger students to build their worldview grounded on biblical truth from an early age.Bahasa Indonesia Abstrak: Guru Kristen memiliki peran yang signifikan dalam melaksanakan pembelajaran holistik karena visi pendidikan Kristen adalah mentransformasikan kehidupan siswa secara holistik, termasuk bagi para pembelajar muda. Namun demikian, peneliti menemukan bahwa masih kurangnya pemahaman guru Kristen tentang pembelajaran holistik khususnya bagi pelajar muda yang tercermin dari bagaimana proses belajar mengajar dilakukan di kelas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis peran guru Kristen dalam melaksanakan pembelajaran holistik terutama untuk pelajar muda dalam pendidikan Kristen. Studi ini mengungkapkan bahwa pemahaman yang benar dalam menerapkan pembelajaran holistik Kristen bagi pelajar muda sangat penting bagi guru Kristen karena hal itu mempengaruhi praktik mengajar mereka. Guru Kristen harus memahami bahwa peran mereka adalah menyediakan pembelajaran otentik, pembelajaran inklusif, dan memfasilitasi lingkungan belajar bagi pelajar muda untuk membangun pandangan dunia mereka yang didasarkan pada kebenaran alkitabiah sejak usia dini.

Abstract

Creativity, mastery of Mandarin vocabulary, and engagement in the classroom are very important from early age to support students’ ability to mastering Mandarin. The purpose of this research is to apply online storytelling methods to improve the abilities of students aged 5-6 years in creativity, mastery of Mandarin vocabulary, and engagement in the classroom. This study used a Classroom Action Research method with preliminary research and three cycles with three meetings for each as a form of corrective action. The subjects of this study were children aged 5-6 years at Maitreyawira School Jakarta. Data collection used data triangulation, assessment rubrics, field notes, and performance results also the assessment was carried out by three observers, which are the researcher and two observers. The results showed that (1) online storytelling methods by providing opportunities to respond the events and critical thinking can increase students’ creativity, (2) online storytelling methods by listening and practicing role-play conversation activity can improve the mastery of Mandarin vocabulary, and (3) online storytelling methods with educator interaction and students can increase students’ engagements in the classroom. For the conclusion, there is an increase in the level of creativity, mastery of Mandarin vocabulary, and engagement in the class of TK B students at Maitreyawira School Jakarta. Suggestions for further research are to pay more attention to children's developments and provide more varied activitiesBahasa Indonesia Abstrak: Kreativitas, penguasaan kosakata Mandarin, dan keterlibatan di dalam kelas dibutuhkan sejak usia dini untuk menunjang kemampuan peserta didik dalam menguasai Bahasa Mandarin. Tujuan dari penelitian dalam kegiatan pembelajaran Bahasa Mandarin adalah menerapkan metode bercerita daring untuk meningkatkan kemampuan peserta didik usia 5-6 tahun dalam kreativitas, penguasaan kosakata Mandarin, dan keterlibatan di dalam kelas. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas dengan penelitian pendahuluan dan tiga siklus dengan masing-masing tiga pertemuan sebagai bentuk tindakan perbaikan. Subjek penelitian ini adalah anak usia 5-6 tahun di Sekolah Maitreyawira Jakarta. Pengumpulan data menggunakan triangulasi data yaitu rubrik penilaian, catatan lapangan, dan hasil unjuk kerja serta penilaian dilakukan oleh tiga pengamat yaitu peneliti dan dua pengamat. Hasil penelitian didapatkan bahwa (1) metode bercerita daring dengan memberikan kesempatan menanggapi kejadian dan berpikir kritis dapat meningkatkan kreativitas peserta didik, (2) metode bercerita daring dengan mendengarkan dan berlatih percakapan dapat meningkatkan penguasaan kosakata Mandarin, (3) metode bercerita daring dengan interaksi pendidik dan peserta didik dapat meningkatkan keterlibatan di dalam kelas. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah terdapat peningkatan pada tingkat kreativitas, penguasaan kosakata Mandarin, dan keterlibatan di dalam kelas peserta didik TK B di Sekolah Maitreyawira Jakarta. Saran untuk penelitian selanjutnya adalah lebih memperhatikan kemampuan anak dan memilih kegiatan yang lebih bervariasi.

Abstract

Language testing development intervened with cognitive processes and higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) has impacted the English tests, included Indonesian university entrance exams within a decade. State universities in Indonesia which are in demand to the high quality of their candidates have conducted a highly reputable entrance exams to select their best candidates. However, less research was conducted to investigate the trend of English questions in the scope of university entrance tests. This study aimed to investigate trends of English questions tested in both the SBMPTN (national university entrance exams) and the SIMAK UI (Universitas Indonesia’s entrance exams) in a decade (from 2009 to 2018). The study design was a mixed-method employing content analysis to English questions (quantitatively and qualitatively).  The findings revealed; 1) types of questions tested, 2) comprehension processes, 3) and higher-order thinking questions, and 4) construction MCQs to promote critical thinking skills in both entrance exams. Finally, implications of the findings were elaborated.Bahasa Indonesia Abstrak: Ujian Saringan Masuk (USM), khususnya soal bahasa Inggris, dipercaya dapat mengambarkan pemahamanan dan kemampuan berpikir kritis para kandidat. Oleh karena itu, penelitian terhadap USM menjadi sangat signifikan. Nyatanya, penelitian tentang USM sangat jarang dan tren terhadap soal-soal bahasa Inggris terbatas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menyelidiki tren dalam proses pemahaman dan kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi yang termanifestasi dalam Ujian Seleksi Masuk UI (SIMAK UI) dalam satu dekade belakangan (2009-2018). Dengan menggunakan metode campuran content analysis, pertanyaan-pertanyaan dianalisa secara kualitatif dan kuantitatif dan menghasil beberapa temuan seperti 1) jenis pertanyaan yang diuji, 2) proses pemahaman, 3)  pertanyaan  untuk kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi, dan 4)konstruksi pembuatan pertanyaan pilihan ganda yang bertujuan meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis. Implikasi dari temuan ini juga dijelaskan.
