Abstract

Female workers are female workers at Namlea Market, Buru Regency. As providers of labor services, they will transport and deliver every item consumers purchase to the location where they shop. Work complete of risks and exposure to health hazards does not prevent them from continuing their activities, and the actions taken become women's existence in meeting the economic needs of their families. This study is a qualitative study designed to describe the role of female workers in meeting household needs. The research locations are Karang Jaya Village, Namlea Market, and Namlea Terminal, considering the scope of the informant's activities. The analysis technique used is based on the concept of Miles and Huberman, which states that qualitative data analysis must be carried out interactively and continuously. The study results indicate that female workers are the central pillar in household livelihoods, and efforts to meet household needs are prioritized over physical strength without considering its health risks. In addition, to cover the shortage of needs, female workers work outside their primary jobs, such as cleaning shops, providing cleaning services, and processing agricultural products. Recommendations for stakeholders in efforts to improve the welfare of women who carry goods in the Namlea market include providing access to affordable health insurance, adequate rest facilities in the workplace, and micro-business capital assistance to increase household income.

Abstract

Airport transportation is one of the backbones of national transportation and connectivity. The government has issued regulations related to Minimum Service Standards for Air Transportation Passengers which have an important role in regulating and ensuring the quality of service provided by airport management to consumers or users of services. West Java itself has three airports as transportation access in the accessibility of tourist destinations, namely Husein Sastra Negara Airport, Kertajati Airport and Nusawiru Airport. The purpose of this study is to analyze the Quality of Air Transportation Services in Supporting the Accessibility of Tourist Destinations in West Java Province. The research method used in this study is a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. Data collection was carried out through in-depth interviews, participant observation and document collection and studies. The results of this study explain that the Quality of Air Transportation Services in Supporting the Accessibility of Tourist Destinations in West Java Province at Nusawiru Airport is not optimal due to several things including facilities and infrastructure that need to be rejuvenated so that they can support excellent service. Supporting factors Nusawiru Airport has a strategic position as the only airport located in the Southern West Java, which is an alternative gateway to Tourist Destinations in West Java. As a strategic national tourism area to become a world tourist destination. Inhibiting factors The frequency of flight services from and to Nusawiru cannot be ensured to be routinely available every day, so that income from traffic is still low. Then another inhibiting factor is the financing factor for the operation of Nusawiru Airport.

Abstract

Child violence is a critical issue within the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, requiring a collaborative approach among agencies for effective management. This study examines the collaborative governance processes implemented by the South Sumatra Provincial Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Agency, the South Sumatra Regional Police, the Class I Palembang Correctional Service, and the Class I Palembang Child Correctional Institution. Utilizing a qualitative methodology, this research gathered primary and secondary data through observation, interviews, and documentation. Analysis based on the collaboration process theory by Ansell & Gash (2008) indicates that collaborative governance has been effective, characterized by face-to-face dialogue, trust-building, joint commitment, and shared understanding, as well as the achievement of interim results. However, improvements are needed in inter-agency communication and the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for handling child violence cases, to strengthen the collaborative process and achieve sustainable outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to identify gender injustice in child marriage through a literature review and bibliometric approach. The data analysed come from the Scopus and Web of Science databases, covering 126 journals published between 1990 and 2024. Bibliometric methods were applied using R Studio (Biblioshiny) and VOSviewer software to identify research trends, collaboration patterns, and geographical and topical distributions in the existing literature. The results show an increase in the number of publications each year, with the United States, India, and the United Kingdom being the countries with the highest research contributions.  Author analysis identified Koski A, Na N, and Sethi D as the most productive authors. At the same time, McGill University and Mashhad University of Medical Sciences had the highest number of publications. The study recommends several areas for further research. First, further research can conduct a more in-depth investigation into the socioeconomic impacts of child marriage, especially in high-risk regions. Second, Multidisciplinary research involving the legal field to strengthen regulations, the health field to mitigate reproductive impacts, the education field to encourage access to learning, and the economy for family empowerment can provide a comprehensive and sustainable solution to the issue of child marriage.

Abstract

The Ministry of Social Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia issued Ministerial Decree No. 262/Huk/2022, outlining the criteria for identifying poverty. This study aims to analyze the relevance of these indigent criteria in the Ministerial Decree to the poverty conditions of households in South Sumatra Province. Poverty status determined by the March 2023 poverty line, as reported by the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS). Using data from the March 2023 National Socioeconomic Survey (Susenas), a sample of 11,070 households was analyzed through univariate, bivariate, and multivariate approaches. The results indicate that seven out of the eight tested poverty criteria—food insecurity experience, proportion of food expenditure, clothing expenditure, type of flooring, type of walls, ownership of a latrine, and source of lighting—significantly influence household poverty status. These factors serve as relevant indicators for assessing household poverty in South Sumatra. However, the employment status of the household head did not significantly impact poverty status, suggesting a need for a reevaluation of this criterion. This study provides critical insights for refining poverty measurement criteria and informing poverty alleviation policies.

Abstract

Papua Province’s integration into the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI) has been marked by historical intricacies, particularly stemming from the prolonged process that spans approximately 14 years. Commencing with the Round Table Conference in 1949 and culminating in the 1969 People’s Opinion (PEPERA), Papua’s trajectory has been shaped by political dynamics and challenges related to national integration. This paper delves into the complexities surrounding Papua’s integration, exploring the impact of the New York Agreement, the PEPERA process, and its subsequent implications for the region’s sociopolitical landscape. Drawing attention to the contested legitimacy of the PEPERA process, we examine the dynamics that have contributed to the ongoing conflict in Papua, with indigenous Papuans expressing disillusionment over perceived marginalization and discrimination. In light of these challenges, the emergence of ethnonationalism becomes a focal point, exacerbated by state policies that have further marginalized indigenous populations during periods such as the New Order era and the declaration of Military Operations Area (DOM) status. Central to our inquiry is an exploration of the response of the Indigenous Papuan community to the advocacy for Papuan humanitarian diplomacy by Vanuatu, a prominent member of the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP). This study aims to investigate the extent to which the Orang Asli Papua (OAP) or Indigenous Papuan community’s response aligns with the values inherent in the concept of ethnonationalism. By addressing these issues, we seek to contribute to the scholarly understanding of ethnonational dynamics, humanitarian diplomacy, and the ongoing sociopolitical landscape in Papua.

Abstract

Milk tea, a beloved beverage in Asia, has evolved into a symbol uniting pro-democracy activist. The hashtag #MilkTeaAlliance, propagated on Twitter (now “X”), emerged as a potent force for trans-national advocacy, uniting individuals online and onsite in the fight against authoritarianism across regions, including Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, and Myanmar. This study delves into the role of Twitter in raising awareness about authoritarian oppression on a trans-national scale, elucidating the movement’s patterns on the platform. To comprehend the process of trans-nationalization, the study explores how a ‘scale shift’ from national to international is facilitated through Trans-national Advocacy Networks. The findings underscore the pivotal role of Twitter’s openness as a key platform, coupled with the movement’s strategy of disseminating factual information and garnering support, which contributed to its remarkable success in capturing attention.

Abstract

This study delves into the intricate digital geopolitical dynamics surrounding the contentious relationship between TikTok and the United States (US) by employing the lens of cyber realism. The analysis focuses on the intricate interplay of digital anarchy, security dilemmas, and digital hegemony between the two entities. TikTok, originating from a Chinese company, faces scrutiny due to perceived threats to security and privacy. Within the framework of digital anarchy, characterized by the absence of a central governing authority in cyberspace, the TikTok case underscores the dynamic interplay of uncertainty and competition between US national interests and China’s quest for digital dominance. The dilemma faced by the US lies in the imperative to secure national interests while preserving freedom and innovation in the digital era. Amidst the pursuit of digital hegemony, the US aims to sustain its pivotal role in the digital landscape, interpreting TikTok’s expansion as a strategic move by China to extend influence and control over user data. Employing secondary data collection methods, including library research, this study reveals the US’s responses to these challenges, involving attempts to restrict TikTok’s operations within its borders, such as the ban on TikTok’s operation and endeavors to gain control of its US operations. However, subsequent revelations indicate the inaccuracy of the US’s allegations against TikTok.

Abstract

This research aims to explain the role of WALHI in advocating for communities affected by the food estate policy in Gunung Mas Regency, Central Kalimantan during the Joko Widodo administration. This research uses qualitative research with descriptive-analytical method. The data collection methods used were interviews and literature studies. The researcher interviewed several WALHI members who participated in advocating related to the food estate project to the community. The researcher also conducted a literature study related to the conceptual framework of food estate, policy impact, and the main theory, namely organic intellectualism from Antonio Gramsci. The results showed that there is a paradigm problem in the food estate policy. The food estate project in Gunung Mas Regency has an impact on the rights of local communities in managing land, forest areas, local food, and traditional agricultural systems of local communities. WALHI as the largest environmental movement organisation in Indonesia realised that the food estate project actually did not care about the principle of food sovereignty centred on the independence of local communities and the creation of an environmentally friendly agricultural system. WALHI then began its role as an organic intellectual that promotes and inspires the knowledge of local communities so that they can voice their bad experiences with food estate projects.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine and describe the implementation of the Family Hope Program in improving the standard of living of young children in Wonokusumo Village, Surabaya City. The research method used is qualitative descriptive research. Data collection techniques use interviews, observation and documentation. The technique for determining informants is purposive sampling analysis and snowball sampling. The data analysis technique uses interactive model data analysis developed by Miles & Huberman, namely Data Collection, Data Condensation, Data Presentation, and Conclusion Drawing and Verification, according to the research focus based on policy implementation theory according to Charles O Jones with three indicators, (1) Organization (2) Interpretation (3) Application. The results of the research are, (1) the organization, policy implementers understand what they are doing in accordance with their main duties and functions, (2) Interpretation, policy implementers refer to related regulations, namely Minister of Social Affairs regulation number 1 of 2018, and guidelines for implementing the Family Hope Program. They have carried out activities in accordance with what is written in the regulations, the procedures for implementing each activity have also been carried out appropriately by the policy implementers. (3) application, the program targets also understand what they are doing, such as participating in mentoring activities, procedures for receiving assistance, so that this is applicable. Therefore, the existence of this family hope program assistance is still not able to improve the standard of living of young children even though policy implementers can carry out their respective main tasks and functions, and parents of early childhood have been applicable in carrying out procedures in accordance with coordination with the policy implementer.
