Abstract

This research is motivated by the growing trend among various entities, including government organizations and private companies, in using social media platforms for communication strategies within the overall organizational environment. This phenomenon is widely regarded as a favourable development due to the inherent openness of the Web 2.0 environment, which allows for the dissemination of information and the facilitation of active engagement, discourse, and the creation of online communities. Nevertheless, the optimistic perspective on the advantages of social media communication in organizations ignores potential conflicts between the principles of openness associated with Web 2.0 and organizational management strategies and practices. This research aims to investigate the utilization of social media by several organizations in Indonesia. A qualitative approach was applied to generate the research findings by conducting in-depth interviews with informants from the research object and various social media specialists. These interviews aimed to explore methods for resolving conflicts between the nature of social media and organizations' strategic and managerial aspects. Specifically, this research focuses on addressing conflicts related to control and governance. The research results suggest a potential path for further exploration in the field of public communication, particularly in aligning organizational goals with the needs of online communities.

Abstract

Employment policies in Indonesia's palm oil industry often have a significant impact on palm oil workers. Many of the government's efforts to appreciate the existence of workers through regulations have stalled due to low participation by plantation owners and companies. The reality of palm oil workers in Musi Banyuasin Regency indicates the weak knowledge of workers and low participation by plantation owners, which results in a lack of security for palm oil workers' livelihoods. This research uses a qualitative approach, collecting in-depth interviews and participant observation data. The research results show that workers' low understanding of labor regulations causes the working conditions of palm oil workers to become increasingly difficult, as does the low participation of plantation owners in the implementation of labor regulations, which makes regulations increasingly less functional as the main aim of making palm oil workers prosperous.

Abstract

Information regarding students ending their lives often occurs. The decision to end one's life is often associated with an unstable and likely poor mental health condition. There are several factors that influence health or mental condition, one of them is current life experiences. For individuals who have the status of university students, of course college life is a meaningful thing during college. The experience of campus academic life is an important aspect that involves students' feelings and actions. In college life, students are involved in social relationships with the academic community and involved in various learning activities. Recurrent incidents of student suicide require identifying various predictors of the reasons behind the decision, in order to find inclusive solutions in preventing similar incidents. The aim of this research is to look at the relationship between Academic Life Satisfaction and Suicide Ideation in students. The research method used is a quantitative method with the Spearman's rho correlation test. The research data came from respondents totaling 289 active undergraduate students who filled out the ALSS (Academic Life Satisfaction Scale) and SIS (Suicide Ideation Scale) questionnaires. The results showed a significant negative relationship with an r value of -0.209 and p 0.000 (<0.10), which means that the higher the level of student satisfaction with their academic life, the lower the frequency of thoughts of ending their life.

Abstract

Child violence is a critical issue within the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, requiring a collaborative approach among agencies for effective management. This study examines the collaborative governance processes implemented by the South Sumatra Provincial Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Agency, the South Sumatra Regional Police, the Class I Palembang Correctional Service, and the Class I Palembang Child Correctional Institution. Utilizing a qualitative methodology, this research gathered primary and secondary data through observation, interviews, and documentation. Analysis based on the collaboration process theory by Ansell & Gash (2008) indicates that collaborative governance has been effective, characterized by face-to-face dialogue, trust-building, joint commitment, and shared understanding, as well as the achievement of interim results. However, improvements are needed in inter-agency communication and the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for handling child violence cases, to strengthen the collaborative process and achieve sustainable outcomes.

Abstract

Public service is a form of activity to fulfill the demands of the served party, namely the community by the serving party, namely the state, which in this case is the government. The increasingly strong globalization accompanied by increasingly sophisticated technological developments forces almost all sectors to follow its development, including public services. Modern and internet-based public services are considered as the government's participation in presenting a form of community service that is in accordance with the times. Citizen Relation Management (CRM) is a form of public service innovation that follows technological developments. This research methodology uses a qualitative descriptive method with data collection, namely through documentation, observation, and interviews. The data obtained is then analyzed using the theory of 5 (five) criteria for successful implementation. The results showed that the people of North Jakarta felt that the implementation of Citizen Relation Management (CRM) was very helpful and made it easier for them to complain about a problem because of the availability of various complaint channels, some of which could be accessed directly via cellphone. However, during its implementation in 2023 there were still several obstacles, both from internal officers and from the external community itself.

Abstract

Health is a basic need for every individual that must be fulfilled. UHC is a condition where all individuals and groups receive health services without being hindered by costs. Law Number 32 of 2004 on Regional Government states that health affairs are mandatory matters under the authority of local governments, including Gresik Regency. The seriousness of Gresik Regency in promoting the realization of UHC can be proven by the implementation of UHC (PBID) based on Gresik Regent Regulation Number 60 of 2022 concerning the Implementation of UHC in the National Health Insurance Program in Gresik Regency. The Gresik Regency Government has launched free health insurance, only requiring the presentation of an ID card and/or family card. Since its implementation, UHC in Gresik Regency has continuously increased, earning a UHC award in 2023. Gresik Regency has a remote area called Bawean Island. The geographical condition of Bawean Island, as an outermost area of Gresik Regency, which is far from the regency center, certainly affects access to health services. The main focus of this research is to conduct an evaluation using Michael Scriven's formative evaluation model, which consists of measuring the periodic implementation results, measuring whether clients or participants are moving towards the desired goals, and measuring whether resources have been used according to plan. This research uses descriptive research with a qualitative approach, collecting data through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research results show that UHC PBID has achieved the UHC objectives stated in Regent Regulation Number 60 of 2022, clients or participants have moved towards the desired goals, but resources have not been used according to plan.

Abstract

This paper investigates the issue of incorporating traditional rulers into Nigeria's modern local government system with the goal of resolving issues that arise from the interface of tradition and modernity in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State. This theoretical paper draws its arguments primarily from secondary sources of data, such as existing legal frameworks and other associated policies, journal publications, and textbooks. This paper shows how traditional leadership institutions strategically used decentralized governance policy reforms to reestablish themselves as the mainstay in grassroots politics. This review is placed within the framework of the debate over the worth of traditional leadership institutions, in the twin processes of democratic transformation and decentralized governance. While the opposing side of the debate dismisses them as mere impediments, the other contends that they are assets that can be used to effectively domesticate reforms, because traditional leaders exhibit ethical principles such as political transparency, accountability, and probity. While research finding showed that traditional leaders possess the capacity to play an advisory role in efforts to institutionalize and customize reforms to the necessities of the community but their poor material circumstances make them unanimously readily available targets for politicians intent on fulfilling their own intended political objectives. The paper thus recommended, among other things, that local government actors and traditional authorities in Warri South Local Government Area should see one another as partners in progress and foster mutual respect and understanding. They must be aware that they cannot function in a watertight compartment and should therefore be cooperative and tolerant.

Abstract

Political women in Jane Ahlstrand's view have always attracted greater attention because of their differences with masculine political norms. (Subedi et al., 2023).  In the context of socio-political change, prominent political figures can become icons through which ideological boundaries and power relations are contested and redefined in various discursive platforms. Women in the world of politics have become media icons that are very prominent in the conditions of socio-political transformation. (J. Ahlstrand, 2023). One of Ahlstrand's works is Women, Media, and Power in Indonesia,  a book published by Routledge, sponsored by the Asian Studies Association of Australia (S. Ahlstrand, 2019). This book shows the important relationship between gender and power structures in democratic Indonesia, and the role of online media in regulating these power relationships (Robinson, 2020; Sakai, 2021). By using critical discourse analysis (CDA) as a theoretical framework (Fairclough, 2015), and social actor analysis as a methodological approach (Leeuwen, 2008). This study examines the discursive representation of three Indonesia women political figures, namely the Chairperson of the Indonesia Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) Megawati Soekarnoputri, the Mayor of Surabaya Tri Rismaharini, and the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Susi Pudji Astuti (Aspinall, 2019; Crouch, 2021).The three are the most popular and influential figures in Indonesia representing three institutions, namely political parties, regional heads, and ministries (Budiardjo, 2020; Honna, 2019). These three female political leaders have attracted the attention of the public and the media because they are considered to represent the hopes and anxieties of the nation in a period of transition (Crouch, 2021; Sulistiyanto, 2019). This book shows the important relationship between gender and power structures in democratic Indonesia, and the role of online media in regulating these power relationships (S. Ahlstrand, 2019; Sakai, 2021). This report presents new linguistic evidence in the form of a discourse strategy that reflects the dynamic relationship between women and power (Fairclough, 2015; Sakai, 2021). In the context of political transitions where power structures have historically been gendered, women occupying non-traditional positions of power can become iconic figures because of their striking differences from male political norms (Aspinall, 2019; Leeuwen, 2008). Although their presence in politics "creates a strong public image," this is a threat to the masculine status quo (Robinson, 2020; Sakai, 2021).This phenomenon has both historical and contemporary causes. Since independence, political discussion in Indonesia has often focused on individual politicians, rather than debating relevant policies or issues. Political opposition movements, the rise of populism, and political personalization in the era of democracy have also made charismatic political outsiders emerge as prominent icons, acting as an epitome of public belief. Populist leaders are usually defined as breakthrough makers who oppose entrenched elite groups, whose members are usually seen as enemies. Changes in the production and consumption habits of news media in the digital era play a role in shaping this political trend.

Abstract

Kampung Keluarga Berkualitas (KB) in Manyaran Village was established in response to the challenges faced by the community, namely the low awareness of the importance of using long-term contraceptives and the prevalence of marriage at a young age.  This study aims to determine the active participation of Manyaran Village community in the Quality Family Village program. This study uses Cohen and Uphoff's theory of community participation to look at community participation in four stages: when making decisions, when carrying out activities, when utilizing program results, and when evaluating the program. This research uses qualitative methods by collecting data through interviews, observations, and documents. The results showed that: 1) Decision Making: The community has not been fully involved in decision-making, especially during meetings; 2) Activity Implementation: Tribina Kampung KB activities have not been implemented evenly in all hamlets; 3) Utilization of Results: The community benefits from additional food for children, vitamins, and new knowledge about the family. In addition, the establishment of Rumah Data Ku also provides social benefits; 4) Evaluation: The community has not actively participated in evaluating the program.
