This research was pre-experimental research with one- group pretest-posttest design. The research sample was all mothers who had 2-5 years aged toddler at Poncol Village, Poncol Sub-district, Magetan District, East Java Province, Indonesia in June 2017 and they were 59 mothers. Data collection was conducted through pretest and posttest. The research instrument utilized questionnaire. Meanwhile, data analysis utilized statistic test of paired sample t test with α 0,05. The result of data analysis for the knowledge regarding stimulation that was obtained p= 0.000 was concluded that there was a significant difference of mother’s knowledge regarding stimulation of 2-5 years aged toddler’s growth and development between before and after joining parenting class. P value for stimulation practice that was obtained p= 0.000 was concluded that there was a significant difference of mother’s practice in stimulating her 2-5 years aged toddler between before and after joining parenting class. Furthermore, the conclusion was parenting class changed effectively the mother’s behavior in stimulating 2-5 years aged toddler’s growth and development at Poncol Village, Poncol Sub-district, Magetan District, East Java, Indonesia. However, it was expected for either Poncol Village or other villages in Public Health Center of Poncol area to be able to conduct parenting class continuously in order to improve mother’s behavior in stimulating her toddler’s growth and development. Keywords: Parenting class, Stimulation, Growth, Development

Abstract

Family Cenetered Maternity Care (FCMC) Education is family-centered care by providing care for women and their families that integrate pregnancy, delivery, childbirth, and infant care into the continuum of the family life cycle as usual through healthy living. The care given to the individual prioritizes the support, participation, and choice of the family. Treatments that need to be done in the puerperium are breast care for breastfeeding and postpartum perineal care to avoid infection. The study was conducted with the aim to know the Effectiveness of Family Centered Maternity Care (FCMC) Education in Increasing Independence of Postpartum Mother in Malang Regency. The research type is true experimental with Pretest-Posttest Design approach. Sampling is done by systematic random sample. Data collection was obtained with questionnaires to postpartum physiologic mothers as many as 12 postpartum mothers in the intervention and control group. Result showed after being educated almost all (92%) of respondents have been self-sufficient in breast care, independence in perineal care at 83% independent level and 8% light dependence. FCMC education can increase independence in care needs during the puerperium. Breast care is done to prepare the lactation process, especially during the puerperium for the baby's nutritional needs. While perineum treatment is done to maintain hygiene and prevent infection in the vulva, perineum in the uterus and perineum wound healing. Abstract

There has been a growing perception in the community that a person has diabetes mellitus because one of his parents suffers from the disease. This experimental study provided a counseling about diabetes mellitus with the aim of increasing public knowledge about diabetes mellitus. It was expected that increased knowledge will change the pattern of life for the better, so that blood sugar could be controlled. Before the treatment was done pre-test and blood glucose measurement, while after the treatment was done post-test and the measurement of blood sugar level again. From the results of pre-test it appears that public knowledge about DM was still low. Post-test results showed that people's knowledge about all factors related to diabetes mellitus has increased. Meanwhile, the time span about one month after the implementation of counseling had managed to lower blood sugar from most respondents. Keywords: Diabetes mellitus, Blood sugar, Counseling, Knowledge

Abstract

Cervical cancer is the fourth deadly cancer that attack women worldwide. Regardless of age, cancer attack all age range, from children to elderly. Cancer prevalence in Indonesia reaches 1.4 per 1000 population. For cervical canser case, Semarang was one of city in the Province of Central Java which have highest cervical cancer case in 2011. Cases of cervical cancer in Semarang increased from 2,782 in 2010 to 5,155 in 2011. By comparison around the world, Indonesia ranked seventh in the world and the first in Asia. The handling of cancer in Indonesia faces various obstacles that cause nearly 70% of patients found in an advanced stage. Implementation of technology could minimize that condition. In cervical cancer cases, the use of cervical screening program could decrease incidences of cervical cancer. By using cervical screening program, early detection of cervical cancer could be done. Self-test endoscopy is one of the method to detect cervical cancer early. This paper elaborate how self-test endoscopy is used to screen cervical cancer. By using self-test endoscopy, one of seven subject in this experiment detected as cervical cancer subject. Keywords: Cervical cancer screening; Self-test endoscopy

Abstract

This research aimed to analyze the effect of wood dust on TNF-α on Mice blood (MusMusculus) BALB / C and to analyze the influence of wood dust on the number of inflammatory cells, ie macrophage, lymphocyte, neutrophil and mast cell in lung tissue of mice BALB / C, as well as explain the mechanism of lungs hypersensitivity reaction due to wood furniture dust exposure. The experimental laboratory research was conducted, and mice was become the animal experiment. The research design used was Randomized the post-test only control group design. Exposure was performed 4 hours a day with 2 hours length of exposure in the morning with 1 hour rest period in 6 times a week for 4 weeks at exposure space in a glass-shaped cube with a size of 20x20x20 cm3. Concentrations of wood furniture dust exposed were 0.50 mg / m3, 0.75 mg / m3, 1.00 mg / m3. The findings showed that: (1) wood furniture dust exposure increased between experimental group compared with control group in mice (Musmusculus) BALB / C; (2) wood furniture dust exposure increased TNF, in lung tissue between experimental group compared with control group in mice (Musmusculus) BALB / C; and (3) wood furniture dust exposure increased mast cells, neutrophils, lymphocytes, and macrophages in lung tissue between experimental group compared with control group in mice (Musmusculus) BALB / C.Keywords: Hypersensitivity pneumonitis (HP), TNF-α, Inflamation cell, Dust, Paddy Milling

Abstract

The technique of secreting breast milk can be influenced by two factors: production and secretion. Breast milk production is influenced by prolactin hormone while secretion is influenced by oxytocin hormone. The suggested technique is by using hands and fingers because they are practical, effective, and efficient, compared with using pumps. If this technique is done effectively and accurately, there will be no problem in producing breast milk and the technique of secreting it so that babies can always obtain breast milk. The objective of the research was to find out the effectiveness in the technique of secreting breast milk on breast milk production in post-partum women. The research used pre-experimental method with One-Shot Case Study (X O) design. The population was 30 primipara post-partum women who had normal childbirth in Klinik Dermawati, Klinik Tanjung, and Klinik Nurhalma, Medan, and all of them were used as the samples (total population). The data were analyzed by using ANOVA test. The result of the research showed that there was the difference in the technique of secreting breast milk on its production at p-value=0.002. The technique of secreting it by doing oxytocin massage was more effective on its production than using marmet technique and warm compress, viewed from the mean value of oxytocin massage which was higher (171.00) and standard deviation of 5.676 than using marmet technique at the mean value of 166.00 and standard deviation of 4.595 and using warm compress at the mean value of 160.50 and standard deviation of 7.246. The group which was significantly different was the technique of oxytocin massage and warm compress (p=0.002) which indicated that there was the difference in action which was done on breasts. It is recommended that the Health Agency of Medan collaborate with the Indonesian Midwife Association to make oxytocin permanent procedure as post-partum service and provide counseling for pregnant and breastfeeding women.
