Abstract

Globally in 2016, 22.9% or 154.8 million children under 5 years of age suffered from child stunting. The prevalence of stunting in Indonesia is 19.3% and in east java it reaches almost 30%. Negative effect of stunting cannot be repair or irreversibel, especially brain damage and the management of stunting is complex, so preventing and reducing child become stunting is more important. Analysis of growth patterns and the detection of aberrant growth patterns provide critical information for the detection of pathologic conditions. Weight-for-age is the most commonly used index of nutritional status. Weight loss, or failure to gain normally, is often the first sign of pathology. If routine weight measurements could be used to detect the risk of linear growth faltering, the role of posyandu in stunting prevention could be enhanced. Purpose of this study is to find a relationship of weight increment in 2, 3, 4, and 6 month and stunting in children aged 0-24 months. There was a significant correlation weight increment for 6 months with stunting (r= -0.432, p=0.004) Keywords: weight increment; stunting; growth interpretation

Abstract

Education s vital to every Filipino especially the delivery of quality education without compromising the health and safety of the students amidst COVID 19 pandemic. With the current global health crisis and government pronouncements prohibiting the conduct of face-to-face classes both in basic education (DepEd) and Higher education (CHED). Isabela State University has decided to roll out and launched its new approach, called telEducation. It has ramped up its efforts in fully implementing flexible remote learning for its students to ease its transition to what might become the new normal for educational institutions. This study utilized a descriptive survey method of investigation to secure adequate and reliable data. The researcher used this design to gather necessary data, assess and determine the challenges facing nursing education in the new normal by the nursing faculty of Isabela State University, College of Nursing. The questionnaires were floated through the use of google forms as a platform. The respondents who participated in this study were 15 nursing faculty comprises of 7 permanent as core faculty and 8 instructors under a contract of service. This study concluded that inadequate instructor training for new normal education; limited time for the preparation of modules, exams, and other related to instruction is due to the limited time of the university administrators or concern authorities to conduct since the summer class has already implemented. The said interventions made it more difficult to conduct due to the implementing community quarantines. Furthermore, there are numerous nursing-related experiences/activities but limited time for implementation; Students find it difficult to comprehend some activities due to the absence of physical contact of the instructor/s; faculty experiencing physical problems (eg. eye strain and frontal headache) due to long hours of exposure on computer monitor or gadgets are noted concerns in relation to the delivery of instructions. Abstract

This documentary research aimed to study and to present approaches for developing competencies of administrators in nursing education institutes in the 21th century. The samples were documents related to both domestic and international documents related to approaches for developing capacities of administrators in nursing education institutes in the 21th century. The result showed that the approaches for developing capacities of administrators in nursing education institutes in the 21th century consisted of self-development, on the job training, and off the job training that were based on contemplative education for self discovery toward work development within the organization, adult learning with self-study process by self-analysis and behavior adjustment by knowledge exchange, reflective methods, information searching via electronic databases, study tour of a role model for intellectual generation, knowledge from inward to leadership skills practice to become a leader with perfect health. Abstract

This study aimed to determine phytochemical screening and ethanol extract activity of the green leaves against Staphylococcus epidermidis. The microbial activity of the ethanol extract was carried out using the diffusion and dilution method with concentrations used of 1.5%, 2.5%, 3.5%, 4.5%, and 5.5% accompanied by three repetitions. The results showed that the ethanol extract of green tea leaves contained alkaloids, saponins, steroids or triterpenoids, flavonoids, polyphenols, and tannins and had the largest inhibition zone diameter of 30mm at a concentration of 4.5%. KHM (Minimum Inhibitory Content) at a level of 4.5% and KBM (Minimum Kill Rate) at a concentration of 5.5%. Analysis of the data with the normality test then proceed with the Kruskal Wallis test obtained a value of P = 0.008. With the value P

Abstract

Discoloration of teeth can be caused by stains on the surface of the teeth or due to changes in tooth material. Tooth stain can be extrinsic, intrinsic, or age-related. Tooth whitening (bleaching) can be done in the office and at home. Strawberry is a fruit with many benefits, one of which is whitening teeth. The content of malic acid and ellagic acid in strawberries has the effect of tooth whitening. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of strawberry extract with a concentration of 100% in cleaning teeth with the extrinsic stain on an academic member of the Health Polytechnic Jakarta I. This study was an experiment on 31 people who had upper and lower anterior teeth with the extrinsic stain as samples. Data collection was done by applying strawberry extract with a concentration of 100% on the surface of the anterior teeth, allowed to stand for 5 minutes, then brushed and rinsed with water. This procedure was done 2 times a day for 5 consecutive days. Changes in extrinsic stain were measured using the Lobene Stain Index which measures the intensity and area of the stain, as well as a combined score of both. The average combined score with measurements using the Lobene Stain Index for extrinsic stain before being treated with strawberries was 22.4. The score has decreased every day starting from day 1 to day 5 of treatment. The largest decrease of the average Combined Score was occurred on the 2nd day, namely from a score of 20.0 on the 1st day to 14.6 on the 2nd day with a percentage reduction of 35.0%. Statistical tests showed significant results of 0,000 reducing the Intensity Score and Area Score on day 2 to day 5. It can be concluded that there was a significant decrease in extrinsic stain scores after treatment on day 2. Keywords: extrinsic stain; strawberry extract

Abstract

Asthma is a chronic inflammation of the airways that involves many cells and their elements. Non-pharmacological treatment of Asthma, one of them is Asthma Gymnastics. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of asthma exercises on levels of Tumor Necrosis Factor Alpha (TNF-α) in asthma patients. This study used a quasi-experiment method of pre and post-test with control. The sample size of the intervention group was 8 people and the control group was 7 people. The results of hypothesis testing with the Wilcoxon Test found that there was an influence of asthma gymnastic intervention on the levels of Tumor Necrosis Factor Alpha (TNF-α) with a p-value of 0.046. The result of this study showed the effect of asthma exercises on levels of Tumor Necrosis Factor Alpha (TNF-α) in asthma patients. For further research, it is expected to research by increasing the number of treatments in the intervention group and controlling the drugs taken so that it is more optimal in its effect on respondents.
