<![CDATA[Indonesian literature has various experiences of development based on the dynamics of literary thought in their work. One of the literary works that are currently developing is popular literature. The study of popular literature is an interesting study to do. Research on popular literary works is also rarely done by academics. The novel with the title CEWEK!!!, is one of the popular literary works that the researcher examines using Betty Friedan's mystical feminine theory approach. The study is based on the existence of construction that forces women to fulfill their femininity. Breaking of the mystic feminine construction is studied in more depth descriptively through the text sources contained in the novel. The results of the study show that there is an effort to break the mystical feminine construction that has developed in society through three female figures, Langen, Febi, and Fani. The female characters with their awareness have reconstructed the mystical feminine concept to show that women are also superior in society. Keywords: Popular Literature, mystic feminine, novels]]>

<![CDATA[This study analyzes the anti-racism in the film Freedom Writers, directed and written by Richard LaGravenese. This study aims to identify anti-racism depicted in the film, describe how anti-racism is reflected in the film, and explain why a character named Erin Gruwell supports anti-racism in the film. This research is a library research. The type of data in this study is text, including narration, dialogue, and monologue. Data collection is done by watching and understanding the film’s storyline which is the object of this research. Qualitative data analysis was applied in this study, carried out in three stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. This study shows that there are two aspects of anti-racism depicted in the film, namely education aspect and togetherness. Second, the anti-racism reflected in the film is illustrated by learning about tolerance for differences. And finally, the reason Erin Gruwell supports anti-racism in her classroom is that she wants to inspire students to learn and have a good view of differences. ]]>

<![CDATA[ABSTRACT Gender equality is defined as a thought that men and women have equal rights as human beings and should be treated equally. This issue becomes interesting to discuss because not all women and girls around the world experience equal rights. Mulan (2020) is a movie that shows the problem of gender equality. This research aims to point out that Mulan (2020) is considered as a movie depicting issues against women and a main character's effort to fight for human rights and achieve gender equality by analyzing scenes and dialogues. The research used descriptive study with a qualitative approach as a method of research. The semiotics analysis of Charles Sanders Peirce and liberal feminism theory used as the ground of knowledge to support the research. The results found in this research indicate that gender equality in this movie is a part of culture that includes physical and verbal form. The amount of research data analyzed consists of 10 data in the form of pictures and dialogues. In addition, this movie is shown to achieve the same rights, especially for women who often lose their rights as a result of society's demands and norms. <![CDATA[In this article, the researcher discusses present verbs. Present verbs are typically employed in the simple present tense to describe events that occur on a regular basis in the present. This article discusses the use of present verbs in twelve news articles on CNN.com. The goal of this research is to determine how many present verbs are used on CNN.com and which present verbs are most often utilized. I chose CNN.com because CNN.com is one of the largest mass media in the world. Mass media was first initiated by Ted Turner and Reese Schoenfeld and was first launched in 1980 and is a subsidiary of WarnerMedia. It is also the first TV channel to broadcast news 24 hours non-stop. The data is collected using a qualitative method, specifically by collecting news from CNN.com. The review reveals the variety of present verb uses in 57 (fifty-seven) news articles on CNN.com in 2020 and the variety of present verbs that are often utilized.]]>

<![CDATA[This study aims to reveal the situation of post human and the description of female cyborg in JP Delaney's novel The Perfect Wife, it also explains how the relationship between humans and cyborgs in this novel. The theory of cyborgism by Donna Harraway is applied to analyze the representation of post humanism as articulated through a female cyborg character. In addition, it is worth-studied as the female cyborg character is positioned in the context of husband-wife marriage. However, this study focuses on two descrition of the female cyborg who is predominantly influenced by typical gender stereotyping.Qualitative research is taken as the approach of this study. Data collection is mostly obtained by close reading technique, while the data analysis is done by applying the theory to analyze the texts taken from author’s narration and characters’ utterances within the novel. The results of this study confirm that the female cyborg character is created by a human has a great potential to replace the role of a human being physically, intellectually and abilities, and the relationship that occurs between cyborgs and humans. It also affirms that the female cyborg presented in the novel is created to satisfy man’s need and characterized to possess typical and stereotypical woman. ]]>

<![CDATA[ABSTRAKPeristiwa serangan 9/11 merupakan salah satu peristiwa besar yang menghebohkan dunia dan mengguncang psikologis masyarakat Amerika yang terjadi tepat diawal abad 21. Korban yang selamat ataupun keluarga korban yang ditinggalkan banyak yang mengalami PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). Namun, peristiwa tersebut membawa dampak cukup baik bagi dunia kesusastraan, sebab banyak karya sastra yang lahir dengan latarbelakang ataupun benang merah yang berkaitan dengan peristiwa tersebut, seperti novel Atonement oleh Ian McEwan. Penelitian ini secara khusus mengkaji trauma yang dialami tokoh utama Briony Tallis dalam novel tersebut, berusaha mengungkap bagaimana dia mengatasi traumanya, serta menghubungkannya dengan peristiwa serangan 9/11. Penelitian ini menggunakan lensa perspektif Kathryn Robson (2004) yakni Trauma terdiri dari trauma fisik dan trauma emosional, serta dapat menyerang individu dan kelompok (kolektif), serta salah satu usaha penyembuhan trauma adalah dengan menceritakan traumanya baik dalam bentuk lisan maupun tulisan.]]>

<![CDATA[Kalimat merupakan satuan bahasa terkecil yang dapat berdiri sendiri menyatakan pikiran seseorang. Kalimat perintah merupakan kalimat yang mengandung perintah untuk seseorang melakukan suatu hal yang diinginkan oleh pembicara, terdiri dari kalimat perintah biasa, permintaan, izin, ajakan, saran, dan larangan. Dalam penelitian ini peneliti melakukan analisis terhadap kalimat perintah Bahasa Mandarin yang muncul sangat banyak pada acara ragam 《放开我北鼻 第三季》“Let Go of My Baby Season 3” pada aplikasi WeTV. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk menganalisis ciri gramatikal berbagai jenis kalimat perintah Bahasa Mandarin dan teknik penerjemahannya ke dalam Bahasa Indonesia. Dalam analisis ini peneliti menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan oleh peneliti yaitu teknik simak catat dari subtitle acara ragam tersebut. Peneliti telah melakukan analisis struktur gramtikal terhadap data kalimat perintah yang terkumpul untuk menemukan ciri-ciri gramatikal dari setiap jenis kalimat perintah. Berdasarkan data penerjemahan ke dalam Bahasa Indonesia pada subtitle dan ciri gramatikal yang ditemukan, peneliti telah mengidentifikasi metode semantis dan harafiah yang lazim digunakan untuk menerjemahkan berbagai jenis kalimat perintah Bahasa Mandarin.]]>

<![CDATA[Salah satu batik Indonesia yang mengangkat potensi daerah adalah motif Batik Mangga Podang dari Kabupaten Kediri, yang mana batik tersebut mengangkat potensi buah khasnya. Meskipun batik terus berkembang, banyak orang yang belum mengetahui makna motif batik yang dapat dijadikan sebagai tuntunan hidup berperilaku. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui sejarah, karakteristik, dan makna simbolik motif Batik Mangga Podang. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dan jenis penelitian studi kasus. Teknik pengumpulan data penelitian menggunakan observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil temuan penelitian adalah motif Batik Mangga Podang diciptakan pada tahun 2013 oleh Bapak Adi Putra Wijaya warga asli Kabupaten Kediri, yang mana ornamen buah Mangga Podang dan mahkota Sri Aji Jayabaya sebagai ornamen utamanya. Batik Mangga Podang memiliki karakteristik yang unik di dalamnya. Selain itu terdapat makna simbolik yang terkandung pada ornamen utama dan ornamen isen-isen yang dapat menjadi falsafah tuntunan berperilaku manusia. Rekomendasi yang penting dilaksanakan untuk peneliti selanjutnya adalah mengkaji eksistensi motif Batik Mangga Podang, mengingat mudahnya budaya barat masuk ke Indonesia. Hal ini dikhawatirkan generasi muda Kabupaten Kediri melupakan budaya asli daerahnya yaitu Batik Mangga Podang.]]>

<![CDATA[This study aims to find out Jauhar as a representation of love, sacrifice, and loyalty in the Padmavaat movie. This research is descriptive qualitative. The analysis shows that the war between the two kingdoms was sparked by Sultan Alauddin Khilji's ambition to have Queen Padmavati, the wife of Raja Ratan Singh, the leader of the Rajputs. By a priest, he was predicted to become a ruler equal to Iskandar Agung if he managed to get Queen Padmavati who was said to be of incomparable beauty. In a one-on-one battle with Sultan Alauddin, Raja Ratan Singh was killed after Khilji's troops suddenly launched an arrow attack on him. Upon learning of her husband's death, Queen Padmavati decided to commit Jauhar, the practice of burning herself women to avoid slavery or rape by the enemy and invites women in the kingdom to follow in her footsteps. Queen Padmavati chose to be loyal to her husband and then do the Jauhar tradition with all the women of Chittor Palace. The Jauhar tradition is an act of mass self-immolation carried out by women for loyalty to their husbands who died on the battlefield to avoid being victorious in the war.]]>

<![CDATA[Salah satu kota yang memiliki ragam bangunan bersejarah di Indonesia adalah Kota Tua Jakarta. Sebagai salah satu kota besar di Indonesia dan juga ibu kota Jakarta, kota ini memiliki perjalanan sejarah yang cukup panjang. Jakarta memiliki tempat yang penuh akan sejarah serta peninggalannya yaitu wisata Kota Tua Jakarta. Penelitian kali ini menganalisis dua bangunan bersejarah yang ada pada Kota Tua Jakarta yaitu Museum Sejarah Jakarta dan Museum Seni Rupa dan Keramik. Analisis kedua bangunan museum tersebut berdasarkan sudut pandang dari flaneur. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini yaitu metode kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data yang dilakukan yaitu melalui tiga cara, yaitu observasi, wawancara dan juga dilengkapi dengan studi pustaka. Objek penelitian dengan dua museum tersebut dipilih sesuai dengan kriteria bangunan yang keberadaannya paling lama dan bangunan yang paling banyak mengalami perubahan. Hasil dan pembahasan yang ditemukan pada penelitian ini yaitu, kedua museum tersebut dapat dianalisis berdasarkan filosofi flaneur. Museum tersebut penuh akan sejarah berdasarkan linimasa dan juga wawancara yang dilakukan oleh peneliti. Sejarah yang terjadi terdapat beragam perubahan yang disebabkan salah satunya oleh kemajuan zaman sehingga adanya peralihan bentuk bangunan bahkan sampai fungsi dari awal berdirinya. Bangunan Museum Sejarah Jakarta dan Museum Seni Rupa dan Keramik sangat ideal menjadi objek dalam konsep flaneur, dalam hal ini dapat memberikan makna dan cerita bagi yang menikmatinya menyesuaikan tujuan masing masing orang.]]>
