The Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) is a legislative body representing the votes of the vast majority of the populace, and its members are answerable to it. Legislature members have duties, responsibilities, and rights that must be carried out at work. However, DPRD encounters several issues that make carrying out these duties difficult. This study's objectives include examining the Regional House of Representatives Government Communication regarding the formulation of regional regulations in Indonesia, the challenges faced by DPRD members in converting regional regulations draft (Raperda) into regional regulations (Perda), and the DPRD's model for formulating policy in Indonesia. In this work, qualitative research is combined with an empirical legal methodology. Under natural circumstances, data were gathered through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies. This study concludes that the government communication of the Raperda formulation in the DKI Jakarta Provincial DPRD follows the Prudential Principle or is done with extreme caution. The DPRD's use of the precautionary principle can be compared to Dunn's idea of forecasting, namely projection. Discussions around developing proposed regional rules almost always involve challenges and issues. Since political influence is crucial, all efforts will be made in this vein.

The controversy over the Minister of Education and Culture Regulation (Permendikbudristek) Number 30 of 2021 on the Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence in Higher Education is interesting to study. Criticism of this regulation, among others, Article 5, which  carries  the phrase “without the consent of the victimâ€, raises the meaning of legalizing immoral acts and consent-based free sex. Along with this polemic, reports and news about sexual violence in colleges have also emerged. This debate also occurs in society, especially with the presence of digital media, which makes a discourse grow fast and expand. Various comments and discussions occurred in various media, especially social media. This research using the concept of participatory culture aims to get an overview of public comments through the social media Twitter #permendikbud30, which contains uploads and comments regarding the controversy over Permendikbudristek Number 30 of 2021 and will be carried out through netnography studies. Finally, the results of the analysis show a picture of the diversity of people’s perspectives in giving their opinions, namely: (a) by analogy with verses in the Quran; (b) there are many cases whose handling is not in favor of the victim and a firm law is needed; (c) educational institutions have not been responsive in handling cases that have occurred; (d) there is still polarization in politics, especially related to identity politics and (e) support for the relevant ministries for the ratification of this regulation is an important contribution to handling cases of sexual violence in the campus.

This  article discusses the political communication of Russian President, Vladimir Putin who is  influential in the European region to dominate world politics along with the United States. This competition repeats the history of the Soviet Union when  President Mikhail Gorbachev took office. During Gorbachev's reign, Ukraine was part of the Soviet Union. Political competition between the West, the United States  and the Soviet Union, makes Putin a communicator of world politics rivaling European and American leaders. Following the split of the Soviet Union, there was a cold war between the United States and Russia, leading to the emergence of a single American superpower. By the end of 2021, Russia will have military units stationed close to the border with Ukraine. The reason behind the incident was Ukraine's desire to join NATO. Putin sent forces to assault Ukraine on February 24, 2022, as a result of this political phenomenon. Conspiracy theory is employed in this study. The journalistic problem that arises when covering women issues at national and global levels showed that the dominant issues in the mass media were masculine. Women issues were dominant in alternative media. It was assumed that the alternative media use feminist journalism framing in its content. This research used media framing theory as the second level of agenda-setting theory that is supported by standpoint theory in critical paradigm to understand the phenomena. It used descriptive-qualitative approach with critical framing analysis design. The object of study covered 39 articles in February 2022 edition of Konde.Co and Magdalene.Co. The alternative media were chosen because they had feminist vision. The data was analyzed using Robert T. Entmant’s procedure, namely: define problem; diagnosis of causes; make  moral judgments; and treatment recommendations. The results showed that almost all the existing articles applied the principles of feminist journalism. The framing of women-related news was more dominant particularly the issue of violence against women. This issue was dominant since until right now it is still happening actually in society. Violence is used by men to subjugate women.  Patriarchal power relations are assumed to be behind this phenomenon. This research concluded that the framing of feminist journalism focused on violence against women in public domain committed by men abusers in the position as husbands, lovers, teachers, friends, medical workers, co-workers or public figures. Patriarchism gave men the privilege of using violence as a natural thing to do. Being a feminist man and empowered woman, as well as firm law enforcement were recommendations emphasized in this framing.

Food availability is one of the important things that any state must fulfill so that its people can live healthy and active lives. Currently, the world is encountered with food insecurity that threatens human welfare. The world, which has not yet recovered from the domino effects of climate change, the COVID-19 pandemic, and most recently the Russia-Ukraine war, is becoming increasingly unprepared for a global food crisis. Malnutrition, mass starvation, and famine will become major problems if this crisis continues. Warnings on   a global food crisis that are often ignored have put the global food system on the verge of collapse. With the increasing level of hunger, the issue of food crisis has become a hot topic of discussion again. Foreign media are competing to report on the food crisis particularly the causes of the rapidly developing food crisis. The purpose of this study is to find out how the media has framed the causes of the food crisis. This study will take samples from three major regional media, namely Al Jazeera, Asia Times, and Washington Post, during the period of April 2020 to June 2022. This research applies a qualitative research method using the content of foreign news. The data was processed using the N Vivo 12 Plus and analyzed using media framing theory and food insecurity. The findings of this study show that the issue of war between Russia and Ukraine is the most widely used form of framing by the three media. This is because the war disrupts not only world food production but also food distribution. This research is expected to be developed using more news samples to get more varied results.

Amendments to the law, as a manifestation of legal politics designed to promote public contentment is inevitable. The theory of law stipulates the significance of developments that are deemed highly necessary. Problems arose when the government of Indonesia's agenda to amend Law Number 40 of 1999 concerning the press raised concerns about the threat of oppression in the media. This study aims to determine the urgency of amending the Press Law to realize press freedom in Indonesia. This study used a qualitative method through literature studies and interviews with practitioners. The results of this study showed that Law Number 40 of 1999 concerning the Press is a legitimate tool for press freedom at this time. It can be stated that the substance of Law No. 40 of 1999 regarding the Press is still relatively accommodating democracy in terms of ensuring freedom of opinion as human rights. However, the dominance of the media company as the capital owner will limit press freedom, necessitating a structure that can finally separate the company from the press product. In the end, the success of Law Number 40 of 1999 pertaining to the Press must be evaluated based on institutions, enforcement, and the legal culture of the society.

Winning the most votes in the legislative elections is not easy, especially in areas previously controlled by the incumbents. The election-winning team, especially spin doctors, bears an effort to conduct proper political communication. The team developed also requires support including qualified political experience of its members to build a positive public image and opinion about the candidate. This study aims to investigate the role of spin doctor political communication by legislative candidates in winning the most votes in the Administrative District of Seribu Islands Regency in the 2019 election by using the theory of persuasion communication and Political Communication proposed by Dan Nimmo. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. The results showed that to understand the characteristics of voters, the spin doctor mapped voters in all parts of the Administrative District of Seribu Islands Regency and conveyed political messages that were easily accepted by the public. This political message was delivered persuasively by the spin doctor team to build a positive image of one of the legislative candidates, H. Muhammad Idris, among the people of the Administrative District of Seribu Islands Regency. Positive public opinion is built through persuasive communication to constituents face-to-face with a family approach. The effort to build positive public opinion is also supported by the personality of the candidate, who is known as a generous person and likes to meet his constituents directly. This behavior makes people perceive the candidate positively and believe that the candidate has had a positive image for a long time, not only at the time of the election. The research results also indicate that building an image properly without public lies is more manageable for constituents to accept and remember.

This study addresses the research gap in understanding the types and patterns of visualization used in Covid-19 infographics. By analyzing infographics from popular media platforms in Indonesia, such as Katadata.co.id and Tirto.id, this research aims to fill the existing gap and find visual trends and preferences relevant to health communication. The theoretical framework draws upon concepts from visual communication, information design theory, and health communication. Using a qualitative approach and content analysis techniques, the study examines a sample of infographics from the aforementioned media platforms, categorizing the visualization and showing key trends and preferences. The findings reveal that both media outlets predominantly utilize illustrations, graphics, and text elements rather than charts. Bar graphs and column charts are the most widely used chart types, with Katadata.co.id showing higher frequency of chart elements compared to Tirto.id. Additionally, Katadata.co.id presents a greater number of interactive charts. The colors commonly employed for charts include blue, yellow, orange, and brown. However, the study does not delve into underlying reasons for these visual trends, whether they stem from specific visual strategies employed by the media or are influenced by other factors. The research findings contribute to the development of visually appealing and easily understandable infographics for policymakers and graphic designers.

Bandung from various discourses is often referred to as the epicenter of the development of popular culture in Indonesia, including the independent music scene. Along the way, being independent or mostly known as "indie" is increasingly popular and then has its own meaning for each musician who adopts and practices it. In addition, the role of the media in music activities is also inevitable. Whether it is to maintain their relationships with audiences, share informations, or brand theirselves, they do it through the media. This research will provide a typification of how subjective meaning of being independent can be seen from the use and preferences of media by indie musicians. Researchers interviewed four musicians who live in Bandung. Each of the musicians was  interviewed at different times and places. The results show, there are three main types of indie musicians: The Idealists, The Moderates, and The Opportunists. Each type of indie musicians has their own characteristics regarding how they relate to the media. With this kind of typification, third parties (i.e governments, corporations, grassroots communities, etc) that  want to build mutual relationships with independent musicians in Bandung can be clearer about which musicians are most appropriate to meet their needs.
