Abstract

This study aims to determine the yield potential of several third-generation (M3) black rice mutant strains resulting from mutation induction. The experiment was conducted in a paddy field located in Saribaye Village, Lingsar District, West Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara, from March to November 2022. The experimental design used was a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with nine rice genotypes as treatments, repeated three times. These consisted of seven mutant strains of black rice and two controls, namely the Baas Selem and Inpago Unram varieties. The data were analyzed using Analysis of Variance at a significance level of 5%. In case of significant differences among treatments, further analysis was conducted using the Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at a significance level of 5%. Based on the research findings, two genotypes of third-generation black rice mutants (M3) resulting from mutation induction were identified. These genotypes, namely D3G46(13) with a yield potential of 5.64 tons/ha and D3G62(19) with a yield potential of 5.84 tons/ha, exhibited higher yield potential compared to their parental strains. However, both of these genotypes have not yet achieved or surpassed the yield potential of the control treatment, which is the Inpago Unram with a yield potential of 8.17 tons/ha.

Abstract

This research aims to determine changes in land cover on Gili Meno, Gili Trawangan, and Gili Air as small islands in West Nusa Tenggara Province. The method used in this research is a qualitative descriptive method in comparing land cover changes on each island and also spatial analysis using Google Earth satellite image data in 2013 and 2022. The research results show seven land cover classifications consisting of built-up land, open land, stretches of beach sand, water bodies, plantations, bushes, and mangroves. Based on the analysis of land cover changes in Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno, and Gili Air, a trend of increasing built-up land area for ten years from 2013 to 2022. The most significant increase in built-up land occurred on Gili Trawangan, namely 48.14 Ha. It was followed by Gili Air and Gili Meno, respectively 24.86 ha and 23.71 ha. The driving factor for changes in land cover on Gili Matra is policies from the central, provincial, and regional governments regarding the promotion and establishment of Gili Matra as a tourism destination in NTB Province. Furthermore, this policy impacts the growth of tourists and the number of residents. It causes an increase in the need for tourism-supporting facilities. Therefore, there is a change in land cover, which gradually reduces the area of undeveloped land on Gili Matra.

Abstract

Rain is a natural phenomenon that occurs in tropical climates during the period it occurs which is a nuisance in wireless communications. The research focus for 5G communications is ongoing to be able to overcome or mitigate rainy conditions. Rain data from satellite images is taken in the form of processed images with different color degradation. The resulting rainfall data is then converted into rain attenuation. This rain attenuation is used to predict noise interference from rain so that it can be overcome in rainy conditions. Statistical data from rain attenuation was modeled and generated numerically using ARMA which was modified to ARIMA so that observations from non-stationary to stationary. The ARIMA model value in this research is ARIMA (6,1,6).

Abstract

Greenhouse gases (GHG) are one of the dangerous gases that cause global warming. Greenhouse gases include methane gas and carbon dioxide. In large quantities, this gas can cause damage to the atmosphere. Greenhouse gas emissions are dominated by waste management activities at landfills. Benowo Landfill is one of the Landfills that manages the waste of the residents of Surabaya City. The more waste that is piled up in the landfill, the more gas is produced. So it is necessary to estimate the occurrence of methane gas and carbon dioxide gas in landfills. LandGem is a model that is able to estimate greenhouse gases that will appear in landfills. In this research, greenhouse gas estimates were carried out at the Benowo landfill using 3 scenarios. This scenario is applied to determine the influence of weather (k value) on the landfill. The results showed that scenario 3 which uses a k value of 0.7 (wet area) has the highest estimate of methane and carbon dioxide compared to the other scenarios, namely 6.801 x 107 m3/year. This happens because the k value means that the landfill area has high rainfall and there is a bioreactor or leachate circulation system. This value is considered a good value for bacterial growth in landfills.

Abstract

The primary worry in addressing climate change problems is the elevation in global temperatures resulting from the growing levels of CO2 emissions in the atmosphere. Mangrove ecosystems contribute to the "blue carbon" plan which is capable of storing carbon well, this research was conducted to assess carbon storage within the mangrove forest ecosystem by combining Sentinel-2A satellite imagery with on-site field measurements. The data analysis findings indicate the presence of six distinct mangrove varieties, namely R. mucronata, A. marina, R. apiculata, S. alba, E. agallocha, and C. decandra. The R. mucronata type is the type that dominates the mangrove area with an average carbon amount of 122.1 tonnes/ha. Correlation analysis shows a strong relationship between IKVm and mangrove forest carbon stocks, with a correlation coefficient value of 80%. In the regression model, the power model provides the best equation for estimating carbon stocks with a coefficient of determination value of 64.4% giving a model equation of y = 109.51x1.2381. Analysis of image carbon reserves obtained the lowest value, namely 0.02-10.46 tonnes/ha which was in the very rare vegetation density type and the highest carbon reserve value was 58.30-59.02 tonnes/ha in the very high density class.

Abstract

This research aims to calculate the estimated landfill capacity and the remaining operational life of the landfill on Gili Trawangan. The condition of the pile of rubbish in the landfill area, which is becoming increasingly mountainous day by day without any compaction and stockpiling process, has resulted in the operational lifespan being reduced over time. Limited land on small islands such as Gili Trawangan is a significant obstacle that must be considered with more intensive waste reduction efforts and integrated waste management. By knowing the remaining operational life based on the projected waste volume for the next 20 years and also the height of the waste pile at the Gili Trawangan TPA, it is hoped that it will be an early warning, especially for the Regional Government, the local community of Gili Trawangan and stakeholders related to waste management to take quick steps in managing the waste pile. The method used in this research is a descriptive, evaluative method starting with a geometric equation approach to calculate projections of waste generation, the carrying capacity of the landfill on Gili Trawangan and estimates of the remaining operational life. The results of this research are that the remaining operational life of the landfill is 3 years. It represents an alarming condition because it will contribute to the increasing vulnerability of small islands, especially Gili Trawangan, especially the decline in environmental conditions.

Abstract

Aquaculture is an important industry that plays a role in meeting the world's animal protein needs. One of the main challenges in aquaculture is maintaining the health of cultivated aquatic organisms. Spirulina, a type of nutrient-rich blue-green microalgae, has garnered attention as a natural immunostimulant capable of enhancing the immune system of aquatic organisms. This article explains the immunostimulant properties of spirulina, including the bioactive compounds it contains, such as polysaccharides, proteins, photosynthetic pigments, and lipopolysaccharides. These compounds can boost the production of immune cells and phagocytic activity, which can help aquatic organisms combat pathogens. Furthermore, the article discusses the potential benefits of using spirulina extract in aquaculture, including increased resistance to diseases, faster growth, and improved nutritional quality of aquatic organisms. However, there are also challenges to address, such as determining the appropriate dosage and optimal application methods. This article contributes to the understanding of how spirulina extract can be utilized to enhance the health and productivity of aquatic organisms in aquaculture. With further research and the development of improved application methods, the potential of spirulina extract as an immunostimulant in aquaculture can be more fully realized, helping to meet the increasing global demand for protein.
