Abstract

This research showed that First, ideally every man should act in a dual functions as individual beings as well as a social being. These dual functions of the real foundation for the building harmony in the life of a society. If lameness, especially the tendency of individuals includes positions as individual beings then building a life together can be as depicted in homo homini lupus, but building a harmonious society should be supported by common life, need, and give each other. Secondly, crimes in Indonesia are the fact how life in Indonesia has been overshadowed by very prominent self-interests. Personal interests which dominated by economic factors become a major influence in the crime trend. Indonesian human tendency their societies emphasize some aspects, but it turns out it's a proven fact that trend has begun to fade, although not all Indonesian people commit crimes. At least, homo economicus could be a tool to test the reality of Indonesian life. Third, Homo economicus is fully understood in an act that contradicts the notion homos socius. Homo economicus if not controlled will lead humanity in a situation of "war" as a Homo Homini Lupus.

Abstract

The presence of G.E. Moore (1873-1956), undoubtedly has brought a new wave of thought. A thought that has changed the development of English philosophical thinking into analytic and neo realism. Moore has deconstructed Bradley's idealsm. Moore revived English philosophy of common sense. Common sense is a belief in direct apprehension of material things. It is important to solve daily life probelms. Common sense epistemology is specifically Moore epistemology. Is separates the subjects from objects distingtively. A subject sees factual objects in direct experience so that he gets sense data. To apprehend sense data directly, it involves conscious activity. The result of activity is the true and necessary knowledge. Common sense Moore's epistemology based on Aristotelian epistemology.Moore common sense epistemology influenced later philosophies of Russell and Ayer in English, and Ayn Rand in America. Russell perceived common sense as an inderence rule to daily experience based on istinct. It differed from Ayer who developed his philosophy based on verification. Common sense is an understanding to given object that is directly observed. Ayn Rand in America developed his epistemology based on objective object as a real material things. The truth of knowledge is apriori. Its based on truism like Moore's epistemology.

Abstract

The bridal make up and fashion of Yogyakarta’s style, namely Paes Ageng Kanigaran, is a sacred Paesan style in Javanese tradition that has come down through generations as a national heritage. Since the Yogyakarta’s Paes Ageng Kanigaran, with Ngayogyakarta Palace as its source, has standard rules or provisions, its principle meanings will not change. Various elements are used to construct or assemble bridal make-up and fashion of the Yogyakarta’s Paes Ageng Kanigaran; each of them as well as the whole of them has profound philosophical meanings. The interview is used in the field research for this study as a method of collecting data. The data are analysed using several methods, those are: descriptive, Verstehen, interpretative, hermeneutical, comparative, and heuristically methods. The results show that the contents/meanings of the Paes Ageng Kanigaran style are found in the elements used to organize the bridal make-up and fashion of Paes Ageng Kanigaran, while its external form constitutes the whole. The style always experiences growth for it contains aesthetic values as elements of the art of paes which can make someone looks differently beautiful (manglingi). Keywords: wedding dress, fashion, Paes Ageng Kanigaran, aesthetic

Abstract

The philosophy of al-Farabi is a review and commentary on the philosophical works written by Greek Philosophers. Al- Farabi’s thought exposes new nuance that is brought to the tradition of Islamic treasure. Al-Farabi carries both philosophy and religion discourses, primarily in matching the philosophy of language to the religion that was polarized into language terminologies. Religion is viewed as expression of philosophical truth in the popular language that uses art, logic, rhetoric, and poetry. Al-Farabi put rhetoric and poetry into the integral-part of philosophy. Poetry has ability in creating imagination (khayali) as a description of empirical data. The power of imagination is put into logic. This is an unusual construction of logic. By the power of imagination, al-Farabi confirmed the prophetic truth. Prophet is not only the owner of intellectual capability as philosopher has, but he has the high power of imagination; prophet is capable to formulate concrete formulation from abstract conceptions that is easily understood and accepted by society and his followers.

Abstract

AbstractIn the Javanese minds, the essence and relationship of manand God are the cornerstone to build a holistic view of genealogy and direction of life. The wayang/ puppet story of “Semar Kuning” is one of some exemplary narrations which comprehends the relation of man-God in common people perspectives in the case that the legitimacy of King-God is questioned metaphysically and ethically. The character of Semar in the Javanese world has a centralsymbolic and mystical role to bring a harmony and overcome adisorder in the natural and social life. The central symbolic role of Semar in protecting and taking care of the world is based onJavanese understanding of the man-God relationship which tends to accept its relationship in ontical sense. Although this tendency is a part of religious perspective mainstream at the time, it still keeps the magi function of the “wayang kulit” performance to overcome cosmic and ethical disharmony in the world. In the ethical terminology, the ethical discourse that had been given in the wayang/ puppet story of “Semar Kuning” is a virtue ethics which shows bad and good moral attitudes.Keyword: Deconstruction, Javanese Perspectives, the man-Godrelationship, Semar Kuning, Wayang/ puppet.
