The meaning of a religion and how to be religious in everysociety lead to different implication. Japanese define religiondifferently from Indonesian. The New Religions of the Japanesepropose new concepts of easy living, practical, optimism and say,worldly and master of their own destiny. To embrace, religionmeans to take advantage from them. Where as the Indonesianunderstand religion as  private property with a lot of duties thatbelievers should follow sincerely.

Abstract

This research is a qualitative research which aims to understand the real position of woman in Javanesse culture based on the story of shadow puppets (wayang kulit purwa) performance and to know the values of feminism which relevant with the a woman's life in Java. The results of this study indicate that shadow puppet purwa is a phenomenal piece of art that have stories that can be used as a metaphor for human life. The values of feminism taught in shadow puppet which is that women in puppets depicted in figure Dewi Shinta, Srikandi and Kunti are the attitude of devotion and respect for her husband both in joy and sorrow, loyal and obedient to her husband though it should be a co-wife, always maintain purity, religious, and skilled defending her husband in trouble. Those values are widely used as the teaching of women's lives in Java that uphold the values of loyalty towards her husband and patience and sincerity live and life.

Abstract

Sport in our society is a part of common daily activity, and also is an art of competition. Various aspects involved in sports events such as human resources, building, investment, equipments, and anyother needs. Internal probelms such as efforts to gain the best position in local, national, and international events implicate so many other probelms. Beside those probelms, sport develops in any scientific studies like Psychology of Sport, Politics of Sport, Law Study of Spoert, etc. All of those scientific studies are dimensions in which sport requires an academic consicnce in investagating philosophical foundations of sport as science.

Abstract

The backgrounds of this research was the three major difficulties experienced by Indonesia nation after the political transformation of 1998, i.e. economic crisis in 1998, terrorism, and natural disasters. People who live in difficult situations need a way to solve the problem. Besides the physical solution, mental solutions (e.g. spirituality and religiosity) have significant role as a way out of trouble. In this context, the excitement of spiritualism in the community, whether urban or rural, is marked the strengthening of local spirituality and beliefs, for example sufism. Sufism has become a necessity of life of modern society. Even recently there is an interesting phenomenon of the urban community stretching to the study of Sufism. This study focused on understanding and history of Sufism in general, the emergence of  Urban Sufism in Indonesia, the types and the contributing factors.This research is a library research which used philosophical hermeneutic method. Elements of methods used are description, historical, language analytics, verstehen, and heuristics.The result of the research are described as follows: Urban Sufism is a religious social phenomenon of urban society arising from the quest on spiritual dimension of religion. One significant factor that encourages the emergence of this movement is  people missed the spiritual aspect wich is almost missing in daily life. Based on the organization or community, urban Sufism has different shapes, such as Salat Khusyuk Community and "Majelis Zikir".Keywords: sufism, urban society, spiritual dimension

Abstract

This research starts from the problems of education in Indonesia in which Heru Nugroho call them “intellectual banality”. The intellectual banality is a situation which is characterized by unconscious superficiality of thought, and degradation of intellectual and academic quality. Basic idea of this research is to look for roots of the intellectual banality at the level of philosophy of science because educational practices presuppose a perspective to science. Roots of the intellectual banality in this research are: first, there is a priority of quantitative perspective to measure intellectual quality. Prioritization of the quantitative perspective can be viewed as a romanticism of induction method triumph;.second, ignorance the aim of science which is create the humanitarian welfare in general, not only one or a small group of person.
