Abstract

This study aims to analyze critical discourse in the podcast on the YouTube channel Zulfan Lindan Unpacking Indonesia entitled "DPR dan Menteri Nadiem Cuek atas Kurikulum Membodohkan Siswa!: AHMAD BAIDHOWI (AHLI PENDIDIKAN)" through Norman Fairclough's critical discourse analysis approach. The podcasts discusses Indonesia's national education management system during Nadiem Makariem's leadership, highlighting frequent changes in the education curriculum and increasing UKT in universities. This study uses Norman Fairclough's critical discourse analysis model, which includes three dimensions: text analysis, discourse practice, and social practice. The analysis results show that the discussion revealed various problems in education governance in Indonesia, such as a non-transparent budget, frequent curriculum changes without evaluation, and UKT increases that burden students. In addition, the results of this study show that Ahmad Baidhowi's speech in the podcast video taken from the YouTube channel Zulfan Lindan Unpacking Indonesia entitled "DPR dan Menteri Nadiem Cuek atas Kurikulum Membodohkan Siswa!: AHMAD BAIDHOWI (AHLI PENDIDIKAN)" effectively presented various types of discourse analysis developed by Norman Fairclough in 1995, including Text Analysis, Discourse Practice, and Social Practice. This analysis identified 24 data with 22 dimensions of text analysis, 1 dimensions of discourse practice, and 1 dimensions of social practice.

Abstract

This study aims to translate songs popularized by Mesut Kurtis in the Tabassam Album. The data of this research are six songs (Tabassam - تَبَسَّمْ, Rouhi Fidak - روْحِيْ فِدَاكْ, Ghar Hira - غَار حِرَاء, Ataytu Bithanbi - أَتَيْتُ بِذَنْبِيْ, Farha - فَرْحَةُ, dan Adnani - عَدْنَانِي) by using the adaptation translation method. After the song is translated, then edited using the VN (Video Editor) application, the video karaoke system is uploaded to the Youtube application. The method used in this research is a qualitative-descriptive method. The results of this study are that the adaptation translation that is carried out is more inclined to adapt aspects of Indonesian language literature by choosing a diction with the same vowel or consonant sound at the end of the song's stanza for example ‘Kenapa kau mempersulit hidupmu sendiri?’ then the next line, ‘Putus asa dan bersedih hati’, both end in the vowel -i. Therefore, in the context of translating this tabassam album, the researcher adapted it by harmonizing the rhymes or the final sound because in this context it describes the Prophet Muhammad and Allah SWT who are universal, so there are no different cultural elements in this song.

Abstract

Mahmoud Darwish's poem Bithoqoh Huwiyah reflects the Palestinian people's struggle to maintain their identity amidst the prolonged conflict with Israel. This research departs from the main question: how deixis elements in this poem, such as the use of the words "I", "you", and references to place and time, are able to represent the collective experience of the Palestinian people. This research aims to dig deeper into how deixis elements form meanings that are closely related to the socio-political context. By using descriptive qualitative method, data were collected through reading and note-taking techniques, then analyzed using Milles and Huberman's model. The results of the analysis show that persona deixis in this poem does not solely refer to the poet as an individual, but symbolizes the collective voice of the Palestinian people. Meanwhile, the deixis of place and time emphasizes the attachment of the Palestinian people to their lost homeland and the long struggle they face. This study also confirms that language in literature can be a powerful tool to voice resistance to injustice, build solidarity, and strengthen collective identity in socio-political struggles.

The suffixes -nya, -ku, and -mu to show possession, and the suffix -an to form nouns. Abstract

This research aims to critically explain an event, analyze discourse, and identify crucial elements in the event of Japan disposing nuclear waste into the sea. The data source for this study comprises news articles on Japan's disposal of nuclear waste from five different online mass media outlets: CNN Indonesia, Detik.com, Liputan6.com, Kompas.com, and CNBC Indonesia. The research employs a qualitative descriptive research method using observation and note-taking techniques. The news articles are analyzed using Norman Fairclough's AWK, which includes three dimensions: microstructural, mesostructural, and macrostructural. The analysis results indicate that in the news articles, there is a microstructural dimension reflected in the use of almost identical vocabulary, specifically "Japan Dumps Nuclear Waste into the Sea," which forms the core of the information discussion. The mesostructural dimension reveals that each media outlet has a different focus in their news coverage. In the macrostructural dimension, the news is also related to the increasingly worrisome situation and the financial decline of Japan, and it makes reference to a Japanese Corporate Institution. The implications of this research underscore the importance of how the media shapes public perception, the significant impact of news coverage on opinions and economic stability, the integral role of corporate institutions in framing events, the heightened awareness of environmental issues, and the criticism of the uniformity in media coverage, all of which can influence public views and policies.

Abstract

In the current era of globalization, there is a lot of competition in the field of electronic sports (e-sport). In these matches there are commentators who often combine two or more languages in one speech and elements of other languages into one speech. This study aims to determine the form of code mix in the commentator's speech in the seventh game of the M5 Global Championship match and analyze the causes of code mix. This research is descriptive qualitative in nature with data collection techniques in the form of free listening techniques. The data obtained is then analyzed using the interactive model analysis technique. The results showed that there were 95 forms of code mix. In the data, only one of the three types of code mixing was found based on the absorption element, namely outer code mixing. Meanwhile, based on the level of linguistic devices, three types were found, namely word code mixing, phrase code mixing, and clause code mixing. Factors causing code mixing are the limited use of code and the use of popular terms.
