Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of an action plan-based self-efficacy training program in enhancing grit among salesperson in multilevel marketing business. Grit which encompasses perseverance of effort, consistency of interest, and adaptability to situations is viewed as a critical trait for confronting challenges in direct sales. The research design is a quasi-experiment employing a mixed-methods approach. The study involved 14 salespeople divided into experimental and control groups. The relatively small number of participants (n=14) is a limitation of this study, thereby restricting the generalizability of its findings. The training was conducted based on the sources of self-efficacy theory and implemented through experiential learning methods. It was followed by a two-week action planning session. Pretest and posttest assessments utilized the Employee Grit Scale (E-Grit) and the General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSES). Statistical analysis using the Wilcoxon SignedRank Test yielded a Z-score of -0.430 with an Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) of 0.667 (p > 0.05). Although descriptive data suggested that most participants in the experimental group showed an increase in grit scores, the statistical test revealed no significant difference. This indicates that the training program did not conclusively improve grit from a statistical standpoint. However, behavioral change evaluations conducted six months post-intervention demonstrated enhanced work performance among participants, marked by increased self-confidence, resilience in facing rejection, and improved time management skills. These findings suggest the potential long-term effectiveness of the intervention.

Abstract

Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) has become a phenomenon frequently experienced by female college students, causing individuals to access social media addictively due to the fear of missing out on moments. The impacts of FoMO include decreased academic performance, low life satisfaction, and even depression. To reduce the occurrence of FoMO, female students need to have good self-regulation skills to stay focused on academic activities and avoid addictive use of social media. The purpose of this study is to determine whether there is an effect of self-regulation on FoMO among female college students who use social media. The hypothesis of this study is that self-regulation affects FoMO among female social media users at University of Merdeka Malang. The population consisted of 4,010 female social media users, with a sample of 100 female social media users at University of Merdeka Malang, selected using purposive sampling. The measurement instruments used were the FoMO scale and the self-regulation scale. Hypothesis testing using simple linear regression analysis showed a significance value of 0.018 < 0.05. Self-regulation influenced FoMO by 5%. The higher the level of self-regulation, the lower the level of FoMO, and vice versa. These findings can be applied to the development of self-regulation training programs in higher education to reduce excessive social media use and lower FoMO levels among students.

Abstract

Ghosting, which is defined as the sudden termination of communication without explanation, has become increasingly common in romantic relationships in the digital era. This behavior is often seen as a tactic for ending relationships. The study assessed the participants' emotions during the ghosting event, their current emotional refletions, and the factors and effects associated with ghosting. A qualitative approach was used, employing inductive content analysis to examine the participants'narratives and understand their emotional experiences based on their roles. The study involved 78 participants aged 19 to 25 who had experienced either ghosting other or being ghosted. Respondents were categorized into two groups: ghosters (those who ghosted others), ghostee (those who were ghosted). The findings reveal that emotional experiences vary significantly depending on one's role. Both ghosters and ghostees generally expressed similiar emotions, such as sadness, anger, and calmness during the event. However, guilt and relief were more commonly reported among ghosters, depending on the reasons for their behavior. In contrast, ghostees predominantly expressed feelings of sadness and hurt. The impacts felt by ghostees included diminished self-worth, emotional loneliness, and a decreased willingness to enter new relationships. This study underscores the impotance of interdisiplinary approaches to understanding ghosting, aiming promote healthier, safer, and more sustainable romantic relationships in the digital era.

Abstract

Conformity often arises in student organizations when individuals adjust to group norms to gain social acceptance, including in the Boyolali Student Association (IMB), which has a distinctive regional and cultural identity. This phenomenon attracts further attention because it can demonstrate the social dynamics formed from the intersection of group norms and cultural identity. This study aims to explore the meaning of conformity among members of the Boyolali Student Association (IMB) with four subjects aged 18–25 years selected through purposive sampling according to the criteria of active members. The method used is qualitative phenomenological through semi-structured interviews and Descriptive Phenomenological Analysis (DPA). The results show conformity reflected through cohesiveness, agreement, and obedience. Overall, conformity in the Boyolali Student Association (IMB) is adaptive and supports group stability.
