Abstract

3D animation film "Hitam Kucingmu Putih Kucing" was developed with the aim of conveying a message of peace to children of primary school age. As multimedia application, this animation film is developed with multimedia development methodology Luther-Sutopo. The concept of 3D digital animation film is a two minutes film with rotoscope animation style. The film was designed by film’s design tools : synopsis, plot, outline, scenarios and storyboards. In collecting material obtained 16 3D models, 3 images, 5 audio s, and 3 musics as material for processing into animated films throughout 3,638 frames. The test results for children in a housing in Batam showed that visual animated film was rated good and the message is quite acceptable.

Abstract

Biometric security system can recognize its user more precisely than password-based security systems. The biometrics have characteristics like not easily lost, can’t be forgotten, and not easily counterfeited because its existence inherent in human beings. There are several different types of security by using biometric technologies including fingerprint recognition, eye retina, and facial structure. In this study, the authors have developed a face recognition into real-time security system for the entrance. This research uses a webcam to capture the image of the user’s face and then compared with the face that stored in the database. Generally, there are two methods used by the author which is HaarCascade method for face detection and PCA or Eigenface method for face recognition. Experiments were done using 150 training data and 150 test data. In this system, 30 cm were used as parameters of distance to measure the accuracy. The results showed overall recognition success rate of 83.33%. This system is designed to work in real-time with the hope to make it easier for the user and can minimize criminal act in the future.

Abstract

Students at vocational colleges such as Batam State Polytechnic has a lab course load greater than theory, this makes the need for lab use over existing lab sessions. Although they has owned notebook, diversity of operating system and cost for software that used in practicum became problem. Virtual computer lab discourse as a solution of the problem. After testing with Proxmox platform, known performance and recommendation to the needs of a virtual computer lab. In addition it is recommended to test with other virtualization platforms. This study attempted to do a virtual computer lab design based cloud computing platform using Ovirt on a centralized network. The test results of a virtual computer lab with object-based programming case study shows, the server used during the test can run a virtual computer lab with 10 computers well. So, to meet the needs its necessary to use 2 servers as Ovirt Engine and Ovirt Node with high specification especially for hard disk, RAM and processor.

Abstract

Independent Component Analysis (ICA) is a popular technique to find the components forming mixed signals on the assumption that at least one of the constituent components is non-gaussian. ICA technique generally requires that at least the same number of mixed signals with its constituent components. So in case one mixed signal is lost or damaged, the original signal can not be found. The authors propose a new method using ICA for a single mixed signal. With these new methods, techniques ICA is able to find the original signal of a mixed signal. This method of recording one of the mixed signals, which are not damaged, with another signal forming mixed signals. This method requires two things. First, Another original signal is known. Second, the signal recording conditions are always the same in any condition. In computing, signal recording conditions represented as a matrix mixer. Of the mixed signal that this is the second time the ICA technique is used to find the original signal. Based on the experiments, the new method managed to find the original signal forming mixed signals. These results open the possibility of solving opportunities separation of data in a single mixed the data for cases that are more specific example, the disposal of a single signal noise, the detection of false images and so on.

Abstract

The single beam echosounder CruzPro PcFF80 with 200 kHz of frequencies was used for recordings of coral acoustic backscattering. The objectives of this research are to analyze the backscattered signals and to determine the strength and characteristics of coral acoustic backscatters. Data collection was conducted in April 2013 which located in the Seribu Island waters. Acoustics data recording was carried out in Seribu Islands, using single beam echosounder (SBES) CruzPro PcFF80 with operating at 200 and 50 kHz frequencies. An underwater camera was used to validate the acoustic recordings data. The results show that average value of surface backscattering strength (SS) several type of coral at 200 kHz frequency varied between -17.99 dB up -14.65 dB, whereas at 50 kHz frequency varied between -13.33 dB up -9.22 dB. The use of different frequencies will greatly affect the high and low levels of absorption, so that affecting to acoustic backscatter strength.

Abstract

Risks that may occur from the use of the pipe as a medium to transport LPG gas is leakage in the pipeline. The risk of leakage is greatest when the LPG gas leaking from the pipe ignited by a spark, it will lead to an explosion / fire that can damage the surrounding facilities and result in fatalities and injuries. Robots patrol LPG gas tank shaped robot, which will move through a long pipe with a DC motor and ultrasonic sensors, which the robot will move back and forth like a patrol. The robot is also equipped with a gas sensor to detect a gas leak in the pipe. The brain of this robot is a microcontroller that wears fuzzy logic program, so that the robot moves and detect gas leaks is automatically without human assistance. The result is a robot will patrol the pipeline browse at normal speeds when not detect a gas leak. By the time the robot starts to detect a leak, then the robot will move at full speed toward the source of the leak. The closer to the source of the leak, the robot will move but the speed begin to decrease slowly, until it is in the source of the leak, then the robot will stop.

Abstract

Most of the traditional ships in Indonesia were built without a special design. Traditional ship design is the result of learning from nature, so there is no planning and calculation of a standard design befor e the ship was built, but the skills acquired by generations of his predecessors. This study is trying to determine the project schedule and the critical path in the traditional shipbuilding by using Critical Path Method. The data for this study was obtained from observing and interview method. Overall analysis found the completion time of a traditional boat building process for the size of 300 gross tonnage require the approximately completion time of 4.4 months. In the production process, there are four critical part which is cannot be delayed the process such as main stiffener/keel assembly, frames assembly, hull assembly and ship launching. Delay work on the point of the critical part will create delays overall production process.

Abstract

The selection of good menu from different types of foods, certainly not an easy doing. In this study, the menu selection that meet the daily nutritional requirements, and also low in fat, approximated using linear programming concepts. The nutritions to be considered are calorie, protein, fat, carbohydrates, calcium, phosphorus, iron, vitamin A, vitamin B1 and vitamin C. A sample of diet menu selection is applied. The result is, from a variety of foods available obtained menus that meet nutritional requierements and have a minimum fat content.

Abstract

The research on the influence of magnetic field over the CaCO3 precipitation in water has been carried out. The hard water is water contaminated with Ca2+, Mg2+, CO32-. Those ions are surrounded by water molecules which is also known as hydration shell. The hydration shell is a layer that holds ions to form a molecule such as a CaCO3. The given magnetic field will affect the hydration shell. The study was conducted by varying the magnitudes of the magnetic field which equal to 0.05 and 0.1 Tesla. The sample solution for this research is 520 mg/L CaCO3. The experiment has been accomplished within 120 minutes experiment resulted a maximum reduction percentage of 28.57% for the magnetic field value of 0.05 Tesla. While the magnetic field value of 0.1 Tesla obtained 57 ,69 % of the maximum reduction.

Abstract

Software Engineering (SE) is one of the core courses in Informatics Engineering. Teaching SE faces many challenges because the objective of this course is that the students are able to create many artifacts along the software development process, not merely recalling information or theory that has been taught. It is often found that students cannot synchronize their work starting from the early phase of software development until the last stage of implementation. The unavailability of reference books that explain software engineering steps, including the implementation, accompanied by relevant case study that is easy to be understood by students is also a hindering factor. Therefore, this paper will propose a teaching method for SE course which implements problem -based learning. The proposed method includes material composition; problem, project, and team; sessions in the class; tools utilization; and assessment methods. This method considers the outcomes of SE course in the past, and its tight relation with other courses, such as Final Project I and Object Oriented Programming.
