Abstract

The development of technology 4.0 and social 5.0 has a considerable influence on educational change. Education in the 21st century requires students to have the competencies needed to face the challenges of the times. One of the efforts made is with a learning model that can develop these abilities, namely STEAM-PjBL. The purpose of this research is to analyze implementation trends of STEAM-PjBL in science learning from elementary school level to university level. This research is a literature study by collecting 19 articles. This study adopted the review process by Sharif (2019), by 1) formulating research questions; (2) setting the inclusion criteria (Table 1); (3) search for articles in various databases (Google Scholar, ERIC, DOAJ, journal websites) by typing the keywords “STEAM” “STEAM-PjBL, “STEAM-PjBL in science education” and “science education”; (4) article coding using Paper Classification Form (PCF); (5) identify patterns across articles; (6) synthesize these patterns to answer the research question. The results obtained The implementation of STEAM-PjBL research in science learning has a very good contribution in growing and improving the skills needed by students in facing the challenges of the 21st century. Learning in the current condition, which is still a COVID-19 pandemic, can be an option for schools and teachers to implement STEAM-PjBL so that they can realize the learning goals to be achieved.

Abstract

This study is a quantitative descriptive survey research that aims to describe the level of scientific literacy skills of ninth-grade of secondary school students’ in Angkona sub-district accredicted A and B for 2021/2022 academic year in terms of context, knowledge, and scientific competence on human excretory system topics. Population of this study were all ninth grade of secondary school students accredicted A and B throughout in Angkona sub-district with 252 students, namely SMPN A which was accredicted A; and SMPN B, C, and D were accredicted B. Samples were selected using saturated sample technique so that the samples in this research were 252 students. The instrument of this research was 20 multiple choice questions on human excretory system topics. The data collection technique was by giving tests directly at school and/or giving online test for students who did not come to school via Google Form and/or WhatsApp. The data were analyzed using analysis of quantitative descriptive. The results obtained are the scientific literacy skills of ninth-grade of secondary school students in Angkona sub-district: (1) in the context of science is in “medium”, (2) knowledge of science is in the “medium”, and (3) competence of science is in the “low” category.

Abstract

One form of technological development in field of education is the creation of various Android-based learning media. The purpose of this study was to develop Android-based Thermochemical (TMC) learning media assisted by Smart Apps Creator to improve student s’ learning outcomes in thermochemical material. The development in this study was carried out with a 4-D design, define, design, develop, and disseminate. The results of the study show that TMC learning media is very feasible to use based on the validation results two validators, namely material experts and media experts. The learning media validation score by material experts was 75 in "Very Eligible" category, while the validation results by media experts were 56 in "Very Eligible" category. The results of the media feasibility assessment by students showed that they were in the "Very feasible" category with conversion value of 35.32. Student responses to the media are in the agree category with conversion value of 4.21. Student learning outcomes after using the TMC learning media also experienced an increase based on a comparison between student pretest and posttest scores. The average score of students' pretest before using TMC media was 54.46 while the average posttest score of students after using TMC media was 82.74. The results of the student pretest and posttest gain test have score of 0.62 in the "Moderate" category.

Abstract

Various marine environment damages were caused by a lack of marine environmental care attitude. This attitude must be instilled from an early age. This study aimed to find out how marine environmental care attitude of students of public junior high schools in Tanjungpinang City through integrated science learning. This research was a quantitative descriptive research in the form of a survey. This research involved 572 public secondary school students in Tanjungpinang City out of a total of 7,974 stundents who were determined using stratified random sampling. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire. Questions on the questionnaire were based on 4 main indicators which were based on 7 ocean literacy principles and literature review on environtmental care attitude. Data were analyzed descriptively quantitatively using a Likert Scale. The results showed that students' knowledge of the sea was in the good category. Students' attitudes in preserving marine environment and preventing marine environmental damages were in the good category and the contribution of integrated science learning in shaping these attitudes was also in the good category. The students’ attitudes in repairing marine environment damages was in the bad category and the contribution of integrated science learning to this attitude was in the very bad category. This did not indicate the low quality of integrated science learning. During the COVID-19 Pandemic, it was impossible for integrated science learning to be carried out in the marine environment by involving students in activities to repair marine environment damages because of physical interaction restrictions.

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to determine the use of local wisdom-based learning media on science process skills in straight motion material in junior high school. This study used a two-group experimental design, namely between the experimental group and the control group. Sampling in this study used a random sampling technique to determine the class that would be the experimental group and the control group. The population in this study were all students of class VIII who collected 62 students consisting of 2 classes, namely class B and C of SMP Negeri I Marisa, Pohuwato Regency, Gorontalo Province. The results obtained that the effect of learning using media based on local wisdom in terms of increasing the ability of students' science processes on the material of straight motion. This is indicated by the average value of the Post-test for both classes, namely the Experiment class of 85.34 and the control class of 64.73, in addition, based on the results of tcount of 6.60 which is greater than ttable, which is 2.80 meaning Ha is accepted and H0 is rejected and the significant value is obtained by 0.000 <0.005 so that it is obtained that the Local Wisdom-Based Media has an effect on the Science Process Ability of Students at SMP Negeri 1 Marisa.
