Abstract

Science process skills play a crucial role in constructing knowledge and fostering the ability to independently solve problems. Despite their significance, the science process skills of students across various educational levels remain at a relatively low level. This research seeks to evaluate the science process skills of students and their responses to learning about colloids through a blended learning-based guided inquiry approach. The research employs a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group setup. The sample, drawn through cluster random sampling, consists of students from Class XI MIPA 1 at SMAN 11 Banjarmasin, divided into two groups. Group A, the experimental class, engages in blended learning-based guided inquiry, while Group B, the control class, follows the guided inquiry model. Data collection involves tests to assess students' science process skills and non-tests to gauge their responses. The analysis entails descriptive techniques and t-tests. The findings indicate (1) discernible differences in science process skills between classes employing blended learning-based guided inquiry and guided inquiry alone, and (2) a positive response from students towards the blended learning-based inquiry model.

Abstract

In cell material, many concepts are abstract and can cause students to experience difficulties in understanding them. Every concept in biology learning is interconnected so that every concept that is built can influence the formation of the next concept. However, often students' initial concepts are misconceptions, namely the concepts possessed by students conflict with the concepts raised by experts. A good learning experience is needed so that students can understand the concept correctly. One learning model that provides a learning experience to discover and understand concepts is the Think Talk Write learning model. The purpose of this research is to remediate misconceptions about cell material by using the Think Talk Write learning model. This study used an experimental method with the type of pre-experimental research and one-group pretest-posttest research design. The subjects in this study were students of class XI IPA at SMA Muhammadiyah 5 Rancaekek consisting of 36 students. Based on the results of data processing, it was found that misconceptions in the pretest resulted in 12.78% and in the posttest it decreased to 6.25%. So it can be concluded that the Think Talk Write learning model can reduce students' misconceptions about cell material.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the impact of blended learning utilizing a learning management system (LMS) on students' higher order thinking skills when applied to thermodynamics content. Students from classes XI MIPA 1 and XI MIPA 2 at SMA N 1 Sumberejo in Tanggamus Regency during the academic year 2022/2023 served as the study's samples. The control group pretest-posttest study design was employed with description questions served as the research tool. Blended learning that is based on an LMS and employs the guided inquiry learning model can help students' higher order thinking skills, as shown by the experimental class's average N-gain average of 0.7456, This is more than the medium-level average N-gain of 0.5878 for the control class. This demonstrates that experimental class students are better at higher order thinking than control class students. Additionally, evidence from the Independent Sample T-Test Hypothesis Test supports it, with a sig. (2-tailed) of 0.000, showing that blended learning using a learning management system and a guided inquiry learning model on content related to thermodynamics effectively improves students' higher order thinking abilities. The C4 (analyze) indication has shown the most improvement in higher order thinking abilities.

Abstract

This study aims to determine students' science process skills through practicum method on cell material for class XI IPA of SMA Negeri 1 Tapa. The research method used quasi-experimental, a posttest-only non-equivalent control group design. Data collection was performed through observation sheets and test questions. The data analysis used is the t-test. According to research conducted in class XI IPA 1 using the practicum method, students in the experimental class had an average science process skill score of 79%. In contrast, students in the control class, which did not use the practicum method, had an average of 55%. Therefore, the science process skills of students in the experimental class are higher than those in the control class due to the use of the practicum method. Teachers guide students in activities during the learning process by asking open-ended questions that spark a discussion. Students are therefore required to be active, creative, and able to collaborate during the learning process to meet the learning objectives and understand the concepts being taught easily.
