Abstract

Background: The end-stage renal disease affects almost every aspect of the patients' and caregivers' lives. Several studies have been conducted to explore the experiences of family caregivers in caring for hemodialysis patients. However, a survey of the burden of family caregivers has yet to be conducted in Indonesia, a country with strong family bonds among family members. Purpose: This study aimed to identify the burden among family caregivers of hemodialysis patients. Methods: This study was a cross-sectional study conducted in May 2021 on 60 family caregivers of hemodialysis patients. selected using a purposive sampling technique. Semi structured questionnaires were used to measure socio-demographic. The Caregiver Reaction Assessment-Indonesian Version (CRA-ID) was used to measure their burden. Data were analyzed using descriptive analyzes and bivariate analyzes. Results: Women represented 65% (n=39) of participants, married participants were 83.3% (n=50), and were 63.3% employed (n=38). Most of them have minimum family income (51.7%). The least common association of caregivers was the spouses of the patients (n=32, 53.3%). The analysis showed that the mean overall burden score with CRA-ID was 2.88±0.69 (ranging 1.00 to 5.00). The highest burden was the lack of family support dimension of 3.47±0.42. Caregiver burden among caregivers of patients on hemodialysis showed that the variables related to family burden were age, an education level, and family income (p-value<0,05). Conclusion: Caregivers of hemodialysis patients carry a significant burden. Interventions to provide appropriate social support to patients and increase caregivers' psychological conditions are critical.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a group of metabolic diseases characterized by hyperglycemia that occurs due to abnormalities in insulin secretion. Chronic hyperglycemia in diabetes causes dysfunction and failure of various organs of the body such as the kidneys, eyes, nerves, heart and blood vessels. The purpose of this study was to analyze how the effect of the treatment given by Moringa leaves on diabetes mellitus conditions, especially on glomerular histopathological damage. In this study, to make diabetic mice using the induction of streptozotocin after which Moringa leaves were given as a form of treatment. The dosage of Moringa leaf extract was divided into 5 groups, namely 62.5mg / kg, 125mg / kg, 250mg / kg, 500mg / kg, and 1000mg / kg doses. The histopathological image obtained will be assessed using scoring, and for data analysis using the Kruskal-Wallis test and followed by the post hoc test using the Mann-Whitney test. The results of this study indicate that there is an effect of giving Moringa leaf extract on glomerular histopathological damage. The results of the Kruskal-Wallis data analysis test showed significant results, namely p = 0.001, after the data obtained were significant data, then it was continued with the post hoc test using the Mann-Whitney test with significant results when compared with negative controls ranging from the 125mg / kg dose group 1000mg / kg.

Abstract

There have been numerous young people with hypertension and need treatment. The treatment measures experienced have side effects and are felt throughout life. Efforts to reduce side effects require non-pharmacological measures, incorporate effleurage back massage. The objective of this study is to assess the effectiveness of effleurage back massage on vital signs, oxygen saturation, and anxiety of patients with primary hypertension aged 45-54 years. The method in this study employed a quasi-experimental design with a non-randomized pretest-posttest control group design approach. The sample of this study were patients with primary hypertension aged 45-54 years who received regular treatment at UPTD Kesehatan (Health Unit) in Blitar City area, as many as 101 patients (51 treatment groups, 50 control groups). The inclusion criteria of patients were having a systolic blood pressure of 140-180 mmHg and diastolic 90-100 mmHg, obtaining a maximum of 2 standard antihypertensive treatments and not smoking. The analysis administered descriptive, time series, t-test and ANOVA. The results of this study presented that after the effleurage back massage, there was a decrease in systolic blood pressure of 13.88 mmHg, diastolic blood pressure of 10.08 mmHg, pulse 9.76 times per minute and respiration 0.67 times per minute. Effleurage back massage is effective if it is performed after 5 times and it spends time for the next massage to pause. Back massage can be performed alone by patients with hypertension every week for 20 minutes each massage.

The research method used in this research is pre-experimental design. The type of research design that is expected to prove the effect of P-AR on ARI with the design of educational media. The method involves a group of mothers who have children with ARI taken by consecutive sampling in the community when the posyandu is run. The total participants in this study were 107 participants, with an age range of 21 - 40 years. there was a decrease in maternal stress levels as much as stress (SD± 19.25 - 9.644) and improvement in maternal resilience after the application of PAR with (SD± 5.35 - 8.38). Based on the results of research, shown that mothers who have children with respiratory infections to receive health care in hospitals can make mothers experience depression and anxiety. In addition, children also feel anxious about the presence of disease. So we need a coping strategy and information that can help in problem solving. Methods : this analitic survey with cross sectional approach. The sample size comprised 40 respondents with purposive sampling. Variable used on this study were demographical data as the dependent variables and independent variables who fulfilled inclusion criteria, and variable of confounding. After ensuring the distribution and normality of data, univarable analysis and bivariable analysis used unpaired statistic independent test t-test, multivariat analysis used multiple linear regression. Results : The primipara adolescent mother was risky to experience postpartum depression was 11 or 55,0% with average ±s.b 12,6±2,5 from 20 respondents, and primapara middle adulthood mother was not risky to experience postpartum depression was 17 or 85,0% with average ±s.b 6,6±3,4 from 20 respondents; pvalue<0,05 or 0,000<0,005; average difference CI95% 6,0 (4,0-7,9). Factor which dominated the occurence of postpartum depression was economy status and family support with pvalue 0,001<0,05, ANOVA test 0,000<0,05, and Rsquare 65,90%. Conclusion : The primipara adolescent mother was risky to experience the occurence of postpartum depression than primipara middle adulthood mother. From other variable, the factor which dominated the occurence of pospartum depression were economy status and family support.
