Study Morphology and Correlation Analysis Inter ComponenYield Caracter of Citronella (Cymbopogon citratus). Lemongrass isfamiliar in Indonesia as a cooking ingredient known as Lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus). Citronella considered as a rare plant that most peopledo not recognize yet. There are two species of Citronella are known Citronella Lenabatu (Cymbopogon nardus) and Citronella Mahapengiri (Cymbopogon winterianus) which is an essential oil taken as a raw material tomake medicine and perfume. This research was conducted in BKPH Southern Lawu, RPH Watu kempul and consortium village of Sendang, district Jatipuro, Wonogiri on December 2010. The purpose of this research are to find morphology characteristic, yield of essential oil and the variety level of Citronella, that all used as the selection foundation to get a bit of blood. This research uses 30 samples/accessions based on Random Proportions. Observation is conducted on the characteristic of morphology and yield of essential oil, variety level is implemented based on the Cluster analysis with average linkage method. The results show that 24,90% variety of Citronella in the area is not too varied. This variation can be seen from the morphological characteristic, and the differences of yield of essential oil produced.Accessions 26 and accessions 24 have highest oil yield with 1.421% and1.25%. The two samples have similar in the morphology, which they have similar red to purple leaf color, similar in the minimum number of plants inone clump (50-100) and the tall of plant that not too high (150 cm-200 cm).Components of plant cintronella fragrant hat could be use as selection criteria including of low plant hight, shorter of leaf size, number of plants per hill slightly and Shorter of stem length.

Abstract

Brown plant hopper outbreaks occurred again in the growing season of 2009 and continues to the present (2011). As a result of brown pant hopper, rice plants be comepuso. It is estimated more than 70% areal the rice in the ‘Golden Triangle’, name Klaten, Boyolali, and Sukoharjo crop failure. The main factors causing a population explosion is not the proper functioning of natural enemies. Natural enemies of brown pant hopper of dying from unwise use of pesticides. Actual mortality could be reduced if the natural enemies, natural enemies have a place of refuge from exposure topesticides by increasing habitat diversity in agricultural land. Research carried outaiming to see the effect of habitat manipulation in the presence of natural enemies and maintain the stability of the rice field ecosystem. The study was conducted at two locations namely rice land in the area and in Klaten Ceper Karanganom, Klaten. The results showed that the brown plant hopper populations relatively low throughout the study so it is not showing signs of damage. Natural enemy population is quite high in both locations experiments. Index of species diversity in Ceper experimental result show a high relative value. Results while the second experiment (in Karanganom) showed that land with habitat manipulation has a population of natural enemies and other insects is higher than the land without habitat manipulation.

Abstract

This study was designed to examine the performance in soil conservation among the farmers who rented the drawdown area of the Multi-purpose Dam of Wonogiri. The study involved a survey of 63 renters in seven subdistricts and focus group discussions and interviewed staff of the Division IV of the PT Jasa Tirta 1. In conjunction with the performance of the farmers, the team draw the following conclusions: (a) the application of multiple cropping tend to increase soil degradation, in terms of increase in sediment to the reservoir. Monoculture, in contrast, is better for soil conservation; (b) the quality of soil conservation is, therefore, varied. About 49,2% of the farmers (or 24,93% area) applied a very good level of soil conservation, 19% were good (or 24,93% area), and 17,5% were good enough (or 14,1% of area) did not achieve a good performance; of which 7,9% were bad (or 4,56% of area) and 6,3% were very bad (or 9,53% area) achievers. Those findings lead to the potential recommendation that it is important to devise standard achievement criteria for soil conservation, either for monitoring and evaluation purpose, both in the drawdown and the greenbelt as well.

Abstract

The choice of institutional land in farming crops for farmers can be influenced by the situation and condition of the farmers who worked in the institutional field. Institutional land in farms is important, thus it is necessity to know the institutional land that currently exist in a region along with the factors that influence the choice of institutional land for farmers. The study was designed to answer the following research problem: (1) to explore and describe institutional dry land area of research in current conditions, and (2) to identify the factors that influence the choice of institutional dry land on farm crops. The location of research used poor rural areas which are far away from the town, Bandungan Hamlet and Parang Kulon Hamlet, Paranggupito District, southern region of Wonogiri Regency , ± 70 km from the Capital of Wonogiri. The choice of location is relatively far away from the city intended to get comprehensive information on institutional land. There were 32 farm households in both hamlets that have cooperation in institutional land as respondents. This research conducted in-depth survey and assessment. The result of study showed that the cooperation on an institutional land area there are pledge, lease, ‘sakap’, and lending. Various factors that influence farmers' choices in the institutional area are known, namely: the bargaining position of farmers who work together, the distance of land by farmers, and kinship.

Abstract

This productive research about “The Producing of Ettawa Goat Milk-Sweet Purple Potato Ice Cream” aimed to create a product made from ettawa goat milk which is delicious, nutritious, enjoyable, and marketable. The research in corporation with ettawa goat livestock owner’s wives which is united as KUBE (Corporative Business Association) Adi Jaya at Sayegan Sub-District, Sleman District, Yogyakarta, also partner with Jomint Company, was done in 2011. Research included program socialization to KUBE Adi Jaya officials; producing to get advance product; laboratory test at Lab. of Food Technology and Agricultural Product, Faculty of Agricultural Engineering, Gadjah Mada University; product packaging; disseminating to women as members of KUBE Adi Jaya and neighborhood; measuring of satisfaction to the product; and marketing. Quality measurement was done to measure satisfaction to product consisted of 4 indicators, those were taste, appearance, packaging, and contents (nutrition ingredient). The formula that was used was S = P/E which was a comparison among the expecting product (E) and the fact of product/product performance (P), in this case about how product showed the performance as real to compete with E. This formula was a modified concept by Kotler that states S = f(E,P). The criteria which was used was if S or Sav ≥ 1, it mean the product had high level of satisfaction; moderate if 0.7 < x < 1; and low if ≤ 0.7. Competitor product as E was an establish product, it was Walls ice cream as a product which was produced by Unilever Company, and our advance product as P. The research results show that the product contents complete nutrition. Contents of Cvitamin, protein and fiber function to protect and increase consumer’s healthy. Product also contents carotene, antioxidant and antocyanin that function to prevent cancer and cell degenerative process. Based on perspective about contents, the product is “ready” to be competed with ice cream which has established. The highest value of Sav is gained on contents (1,24), followed appearance (0,997), taste (0,983), and packaging (0,974). Level of respondent satisfaction to contents of etawa goat milk – sweet purple potato ice cream included high caused > 1, while to three others elements included moderate-high caused close to 1. Totally, Sav value that is achieved is 1.038, it means the product can satisfy the consumers in high level caused > 1. The product has capacity to compete even more satisfy than Walls ice cream based on product perspective (element of marketing mix). The product gets positive responses from members of KUBE Adi Jaya and others dissemination participants, also shops as partners of Jomint.

Abstract

This experiment was conducted to investigate the efficacy of methyl groups donor of betaine to spare methionine based on performance and carcass in broiler chickens. In total, 100 day old broiler chickenss were used in this experiment. They were allocated to 4 dieaty treatmants in 5 replicates with 5 broilers each. The basal diet was deficient in methionine. The control diet was obtained from basal diet supplemented with methionine to meet the requirements 5 g/kg diet for starter period and 3.8 g/kg diet for finisher period. The rest 3 treatments were basal diet deficient in methionine supplemented with 1, 2 and 3 g betaine per kg diet. The variables that were observed included average daily gain and carcass characteristics. The data were than analyzed by analysis of variance of Completely Randomized Design and continued with Dunnet test. The result indicated that supplementation of 1 and 2 g betaine per kg diet deficient in methionine resulted the broiler performance which was not different with supplementation of methionine. Accordingly, carcass characteristics for broilers fed diet supplemented with methionine were not different with that supplemented with betaine, which indicated that betaine may reduce the methionine level in the broiler diet. It can be concluded that betaine spares metionine in broiler diets.
