The "wen" welding workshop business does welding with bad work postures that cause muscle injury (Musculoskeletal Disorders). For this reason, it is necessary to design a work facility for an efficient welding process. The Nordic Body Map (NBM) questionnaire was used to find out which body parts had complaints that they were not sick, enough pain, illness and evaluation using the Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) method to become an input to improve the operator's work posture to be better. The design of welding facilities is carried out using the Design For Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA) method because it can evaluate the costs and material of new design facilities with pre-existing design facilities in the testing phase. The design results are in the form of a workbench that has a footrest, a welding wire, a material laying place, a bow and vise in a facility, based on testing the lower the REBA score results so that the work posture is better, the facility can be used to weld all products to the workshop weld and efficiency compared to the previous tool at 35%.

PT. XYZ is one of the manufacturing companies in Indonesia. The company produces water pumps. An important component in the water pump is the stator. The observation results in the Stator Assembly line 4 show that low line efficiency occurs because the production process has not run optimally. So that an improvement in the production process is important to do on this line. One method to improve the production process is ECRS based line balancing. By still considering the concept of line balancing, line efficiency can be improved through improving the production process. Through the improvement of the production process, there was a decrease in the number of work stations from 10 work stations to 9 work stations, improvement of line layout and 7th work station (Heating Air Dryer), also an increase in line efficiency from 74.72% to 81.09%.

PT. Y is a company in the pharmaceutical industry that produces finished drugs. Based on observations in the packing process of Tablet XYZ products, it is still found that there are bottlenecks between work stations caused by a lack of equal distribution of work. Work stations whose workload is not evenly distributed, can cause the low of line efficiency. This study improved line balancing using the Ranked Positional Weight method which aims to increase the line efficiency value of the Tablet XYZ packing process. The result of this study is an increase in the value of line efficiency after the distribution of work elements is evenly distributed.

Indonesia Power UBP Mrica ltd. in the Banjarnegara district is a company that runs is the field of provision and distribution of electricity. For a company that specialized in the field of provision and distribution of electricity it is vital to have a place to store items and spare parts for production, usually called warehouse. Beside for a place to store stuff, a warehouse can also function as a temporary storage for products or spare parts that will be used and distributed, either to the consumers or the other warehouses. The main goal of this study is to know how the 5S method is implemented in the warehouse of Indonesia Power UBP Mrica ltd. Implementation here include the labelling of shelf and cabinet, and also the standardization for the whole activities in the warehouse for the sake of optimizing performance in the warehouse. The result of this research will be a suggestion of refinement related to the warehouse performance.

As one of the manufacturing companies engaged in food, PT SMART Tbk. Surabaya often having problem about the quality of materials stored in Warehouse Packaging Marsho which is often founded scrap materials. Based on the data from April 1st, 2017 to February 15th, 2015, the percentage of scrap material is increasing every month from 5% to 23%. The purpose of this research is to minimize the scrap materials in Warehouse Packaging Marsho PT. SMART Tbk. Surabaya using DMAIC method by implementing Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control stages. The results are the most dominant cause of scrap is the laziness of operator to place materials in accordance with the provisions (general batch). Thus, it is necessary to make improvements to minimize the scrap material by doing a routine briefing from PIC Area Warehouse Packaging Marsho before the operational activities begin.

An external fixation is a hexapod-based medical aid to support the process of bone reconstruction due to bone deformity. On the market, there are several hexapods based external fixation with various designs. The well-known external fixation product in the doctor's environment is the Taylor Spatial Frame (TSF) consisting of two rings and six telescopic struts with a joint system using a universal joint. TSF tools have been successfully created by the Industrial Engineering Planning and Design laboratory of the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Sebelas Maret, Surakarta. The design of this TSF is to correct bones with extreme angles, but the angle range between the struts cannot be reached according to the target specifications. Another weakness in this TSF design is the backlash in the universal joint component. This study aims to improve the joint system between strut and ring, to eliminate the potential of backlash, to be safe for the user and the strut-ring angle range can be reached at an angle of 30°. Design improvements are carried out with the generic product development process to select alternative repair concepts that emphasize safe for users, then test using finite elements to assess safety factors and displacements. The result is a chosen design concept with an angle range at the external fixation between the strut rings approaching an angle of 30°.

An external fixator is a medical device to support bones that require correction due to a defect or fracture. An external fixator with a hexapod system is the right device for correction of complex deformities because of its ability to repair bone in three dimensions. There are many external hexapod fixator products that are sold commercially with varied designs. So far, the success rate of fixators has only been reviewed from the final results on bone correction and frame specifications for biomechanical testing. This study aims to determine the criteria for an external fixator and determine the level of importance between the criteria. Determination of criteria and ranking of interests is carried out by Delphi and Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). The results of this study indicate that there are four main criteria for external fixators for each criterion assessment. The benefit of this research is to further develop hexapod based external fixator products.

Globalisasi ekonomi sudah menjadi agenda internasional yang sulit terelakan oleh semua negara di dunia. Sejalan dengan berlangsungnya globalisasi ekonomi, organisasi perdagangan dunia (WTO) membuat kesepakatan tentang perjanjian perdagangan yang dikenal sebagai WTO agreement. Dalam perjanjian tersebut, negara yang menanda tangani perjanjian setuju untuk menurunkan bahkan menghilangkan pembatas yang tidak perlu dalam perdagangan antar negara. Beberapa pelaku usaha menyatakan bahwa standar dan penilaian kesesuaian menjadi infrastruktur teknis dalam perdagangan. Penggunaan standar sebagai suatu infrastruktur teknis dalam perdagangan juga sangat berarti dalam perdagangan domestik. Sehingga pengembangan SNI (Standar Nasional Indonesia) yang sesuai dengan karakteristik Indonesia perlu dilakukan. Dalam melakukan pengembangan SNI diperlukan strategi yang sesuai. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan usulan perencanaan strategi pengembangan SNI. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode analisis deskriptif SWOT(Strength Weakness Opportunity Threat). Hasil yang diperoleh berupa usulan strategi berdasarkan matriks SWOT. Usulan yang didapatkan adalah strategi pengembangan SNI di industri konstruksi dengan melakukan langkah-langkah yang mendukung.

The increase in the food industrial sector over the year making food producers experience tighter competition. In this era of intense competition in the food industry, raw material inventory control in PT. Surya Indah Food Multirasa is still facing a problem of lacking raw material in potatoes and curly potatoes every year, which affects in sale loss. This study is conducted to find out the precise amount of order in every raw material purchase, so there is no lack of raw material, at a lower cost. This study uses the Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) method for analyzing raw material control for potatoes and curly potatoes. Comparing the uses of company policy and EOQ. EOQ analysis calculation followed by conducting safety stock (SS) analysis, maximum inventory (MI) analysis, Total Inventory Cost (TIC) analysis, and reorder point (ROP) analysis, therefore, optimal stock for the company can be discovered. The result of EOQ analysis showed that the EOQ method is more efficient than company policy with TIC average difference for potato’s raw material that is Rp. 856.124 and curly potatoes raw material that is Rp. 1.065.989. The average EOQ value of potato’s raw material is 344 kg while curly potatoes are 234 kg. Next is the average SS value for potato raw material is 75 kg while curly potatoes are 35 kg, and the average ROP value for potato raw is 123 kg while curly potatoes are 58 kg. This research also performs forecasting using Winter’s method so that data demand for the year of 2019 can be discovered. The forecast result with the EOQ method for the year 2019 is 371 kg for potato's raw material and 258 kg for curly potatoes.

Perusahaan Garmen Puspa Dhewi Batik bergerak di bidang industri garmen yang memproduksi secara make to order. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan efisiensi keseimbangan lini produksi pada lintasan sewing. Lintasan sewing dipilih sebagai objek penelitian karena lintasan tersebut memiliki waktu proses yang paling lama. Dalam upaya peningkatan efisiensi tersebut digunakan metode line balancing berdasarkan perhitungan Standard Minute Value dengan memperhatikan pitch time, under control limit, dan upper control limit. Perhitungan line balancing dilakukan untuk meningkatkan efisiensi keseimbangan lintasan sewing dengan melakukan perubahan pada elemen kerja berdasarkan pitch time. Melalui metode ini didapatkan balance efficiency sebesar 85% pada lintasan sewing. Perubahan juga terjadi pada elemen kerja yang terdiri dari 23 elemen kerja menjadi 21 elemen kerja. Setelah perhitungan line balancing didapatkan rata-rata hasil produksi pada lintasan sewing setiap jamnya sebesar 61 pcs dan setiap harinya sebesar 495 pcs.
