Abstract

Behavioral Architecture for Student Quality of Life:Responsive Communal Housing Design in Sleman, YogyakartaThe need for behaviorally responsive communal housing in Sleman is urgent to address conventional design issues (density, conflict). This study aims to develop a student housing design framework based on Behavioral Architecture. Using a descriptive qualitative method with Behavior Mapping and empirical study, behavioral data was analyzed for applicable design guidelines. The result is an innovative Design Framework, including the Extended Core Corridor Plan concept and semi-private unit zoning, which functionally addresses behavioral needs. The Novelty lies in the synthesis of local empirical behavioral data (Sleman) converted into an integrated design model to enhance Student Quality of Life.

Abstract

The issue of increasing temperature in buildings is a concern, especially in areas with high sun exposure. One factor affecting indoor temperature is the type and surface treatment of the roof. This study examines the effectiveness of paint in reducing the surface temperature of galvalume. The paint variables studied were type and colour. The experiment used an LM35 temperature sensor controlled by Arduino Uno. The roof without paint had the highest temperature increase with a gradient of 0.0276, while the roof with white B paint had the smallest gradient of 0.0086, showing its effectiveness in reducing heat absorption. The temperature difference between the upper and lower surfaces of the roof without paint is 7.6°C to 17.7°C, while with white B paint, it is only 2.6°C to 5.9°C. This indicates that reflective paint, especially white, enhances energy efficiency.

Abstract

A Study ofSense of Place at Street Coffee in the Kotabaru Area, YogyakartaStreet coffee in Kotabaru has become a new coffee culture in Yogyakarta. This study aims to in-depth examine the contribution of street coffee to the sense of place in Kotabaru through a qualitative approach. Data collection was conducted through field observations and in-depth interviews with sellers and buyers at Kotabaru's street coffee shops. Data analysis was conducted using thematic analysis based on the codification and categorization of interview results. The results of this study indicate that the sense of place in Kotabaru's street coffee shops is formed by a combination of the uniqueness of Kotabaru's outdoor space, economic and social values, and attachment. However, street coffee raises issues that require stakeholder intervention to create synergy between contemporary street coffee activities and the cultural heritage area of Kotabaru.

Abstract

Palembang is a city with a long history and one of the oldest cities in Indonesia. One of the driving aspects for the formation of the city is its reputation as the area for main trade in Southern Sumatra. The trade also encouraged the development of immigrant communities which later became their inhabited colonies such as the Al-Munawar Village inhabited by immigrants from Yemeni Arabs. The primary goal of this research is to demonstrate the impact of trade interactions on architectural expression. This demonstrates that architectural form is impacted by a variety of factors, namely commercial interactions. Therefore, this research was conducted to determine the correlation between the history of a community and its architectural elements ranging from regional spatial planning to decorative elements. This involved using the historical research approach with architectural semiotic analysis techniques. The results showed that the spatial layout of Al-Munawar Village has a typology similar to those in settlers' villages, for both fellow Yemeni Arabs in Sungai Lumpur Village and Chinese migrants in Kapitan Village. It was also discovered that the buildings in Al- Munawar Village reflect the relationship between the residents and the surrounding environment as observed with the Sultanate of Palembang Darussalam. The buildings also reflect the relationship with Yemeni Arab migrants outside Indonesia such as those in Malaysia and Singapore. This means architecture is used as a sign of the socio- economic relations for the residents of Al-Munawar village.

Abstract

Research aims to identify patterns of interaction in the delivery of information and circulation flow in the Ranggawarsita Semarang museum. Techniques for conveying information from collectibles have a very close correlation with the circulation of space in a museum. The Ranggawarsita Museum, Central Java, was a case study by observing directly at the museum location and collecting data using a questionnaire method. This questionnaire method is useful for knowing the visitor's response to this problem of interaction patterns and circulation flow. The discussion will focus on identification through observation by comparing it with standard spatial theories assisted by the results of the questionnaire in determining what patterns are formed from the information conveyed by the museum to museum’s visitors. By identifying the techniques for conveying information and the circulation flow of visitors to the Ranggawarsita museum, in addition to obtaining patterns of interaction, they are also able to identify the problems that exist in it and the roles related to the aspects concerned.
