Abstract

This study aims to describe the situation and condition of food security in Banten Province by comparing food security based on the FSVA map of Banten Province (2018) which uses 9 indicators with research by Deby Eryani Setiawan et al (2017) which uses 6 indicators, then also compared with data- associated secondary data. The results show that even though the FSVA map Banten Province is in a food-resistant condition (Priority 5), if viewed from each indicator, there are still some areas or households that are still vulnerable. The order of 9 indicators from the most vulnerable to resistant in Banten Province is the percentage of stunted children under five, the percentage of malnourished children under 15 years of age, the average length of school for girls over 15 years, the percentage of households without access to clean water, the proportion of expenditure on food to total expenditure, life expectancy, percentage of households without access to electricity, percentage of population below the poverty line, and the best indicator is the ratio of population per health worker. Based on the Food Security Index for each Regency / City in Banten Province, it shows that Serang City has the lowest Food Security Index (IKP) value compared to other districts / cities in Banten Province and is in the low category of food insecure areas.

The population in this study were lowland rice farmers who were in the research location. The research location was in three districts, namely Munjul, Sobang and Panimbang districts. The research design used qualitative and quantitative approaches involving 144 respondents representing three districts, the data collected were primary data and secondary data. Primary data were collected through interviews using questionnaires, in-depth interviews, observation and documentation study. The data consists of the characteristics of the respondent (ξ1); Technological innovation (ξ2); Extension activities (ξ3); Capacity (η1); and Family food safety (η2). The selection of respondents was carried out by proportional random sampling (proportionally random sampling) based on the research criteria. Data analysis used descriptive statistics, one way ANOVA and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The results showed that the capacity of lowland rice farmers was in the medium category. The element that most influenced the capacity level was the respondent's characteristic of 0.81 (76.25 percent) through land tenure and farming experience. Meanwhile, extension activities only contributed 0.07 (2.3 percent) through indicators of extension methods and intensity. Meanwhile, technological innovation still has a negative effect on the capacity of farmers in increasing family food security. In general, the capacity of lowland rice farmers has high support for family food security, especially in indicators of consumption levels and food sustainability.

Abstract

Medicinal plants are returning viral during the Covid-19 pandemic. The absence of effective vaccines and drugs to ward off Covid-19 has increased interest in consuming medicinal plants. The trend of consuming medicinal plants during a pandemic cannot be separated from the role of the millennial generation. The millennial generation has more capabilities than the older generation in accessing and disseminating information. The problem is whether the millennial generation uses technology to support literacy about medicinal plants? How is the use of medicinal plants among the millennial generation? This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection through surveys. The instrument used was a questionnaire. The number of respondents involved was 90 people. The characteristics of the research respondents are population aged 20-43 years in 2020. Based on the results of the study, it can be seen that the level of literacy of the millennial generation towards medicinal plants is low. The level of literacy is inversely proportional to the quite high interest in consuming medicinal plants. Millennial generations tend to consume medicinal plants just because they follow the trend. The millennial generation is more affected by everything viral on social media. The willingness to find the truth of information is still low. There is a gap between the level of literacy and the consumption interest of the millennial generation in consuming medicinal plants during the Covid-19 Pandemic.

Abstract

Food security is an important aspect during the COVID-19 pandemic, especially in the horticulture sector. However, with the existence of Large-Scale Social Restrictions as a government policy to avoid the spread of COVID-19, the customer is expected to be able to maintain a distance from physical trading activities, so horticultural marketing should be able to focus on the household segment by utilizing digital marketing. Based on this, the application design "Fresh Sehat" is done by applying the Human-Centered-Design method. The results of usability testing on the "Fresh Sehat" application show that the average value of effectiveness, efficiency, and satisfaction is above 78% so that design improvements can be made by the problem findings by clarifying the details of the number of goods and the price to be ordered.
