Abstract

Teaching supervision is one of the efforts to improve teacher professionalism. The purpose of this study was to find out how the teaching supervision program, teaching supervision techniques, and supporting and inhibiting factor of the implementation of teaching supervision of principal were. This study used descriptive method and qualitative approach. Data were collected through interview, observation and documentation study. Subject of the study were principal, vice principal and teachers. The result showed that: (1) Learning supervision program prepared by principal including planning, scheduling, supervision model, supervision clues, feedback and follow up implementation. In the implementation, principal examine learning administration instrument such as syllabus, lesson plan, teaching and learning process, annual program, semester program, effective week, question item analysis. (2) Teaching supervision techniques was conducted by class visiting, class observation, individual talk, teacher meeting, and assigning the teachers for training, upgrading, and educational seminar. (3) Supporting factor of teaching supervision implementation were teacher readiness to be coached by the principal, the establishment of good relationship in school environment, in addition the principal can monitor the teachers’ teaching development or achievement. Therefore, the principal would now which teachers were successful and which teachers needed further coaching in teaching. Meanwhile, the inhibiting factor in the implementation of teaching supervision was the limited time due to the busyness of principal inside and outside of the school.

Abstract

The conducted study concerns about the use of Monopoly game as media in Cooperative Learning on the concept of the Solar System for Students of Physics in Tarbiyah faculty aiming to see the students' mastery of learning outcomes and performance. The study was a Quasi Experimental Research. The population used in the study was all students majoring in Physic Education with a sample of the7th semester students of 2010/2011 academic year. The method of data collection used is testing and observation. Data were analyzed by using the statistical percentage. The result shows there were 90.32% of students passed individually, which therefore the students' learning results were completed classically. In addition, the students' performance on cognitive, affective, and psychomotor in the experimental class also showed positive results. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of monopoly game as media in cooperative learning on the concept of the Solar System have a positive impact to the quality of learning process.

Abstract

Education Birrul Walidain is one of the most important factors in ideal character education. The creatoin of a generation that akhlakul karimah is a dream for the parents of their children. Education Birrul Walidain is very influential on adab to parents. In the Qu’an Allah has explained many related verses about Birrul Walidain. One of them is in sura Luqman verse 14 and sura Al – Isra verses 23-24. The word of God in sura Luqman verse 14 describes the struggle of a mother in pregnancy, giving birth to raising. God tells the strugglr of a mother so that a child can know a mother’s struggle so that he can reply by doing good to him and not lawless to him even on of them do not say “ah” which has been described in surah Al – Isra verses 23-24. In the letter of Al-Isra verses 23-24 it consists of five kinds of prohibitions in the words of Uffin, the ban forming with harsh words, saying with noble words, be tawadhu, and pray for his parents either alive or dead. Al – Qur’an and sunna assert Birrul Walidain as a duty. This explains how big the attention of Islam to both parents.

Abstract

Instructional media are used to deliver instructional contents. They can be in the forms of book, tape recorder, cassette, video camera, video recorder, film, photo, picture, graphics, television, and computer. They act as learning sources or physical tools that contained instructional materials to stimulate people to learn. The result of the research done in islamic senior high school, MAN Model Banda Aceh showed that the use of audio media could improve students’ achievement and the ability to write arabic language. Using visual media in writing could improve their achievement in writing as it relies on students’ imagination. Furthermore, from audio visual media, students could have new experience and motivate them to study arabic language.

Abstract

Ada di antara para pemikir modern yang selama ini mengkritisi eksistensi persekolahan karena dipandang belum memenuhi harapan manusia pada umumnya. Keberadaan sekolah belum dilaksanakan untuk mencapai fungsi sejatinya dalam hal humanisasi. Sebaliknya, justru melalui berbagai macam aktifitas, pendidikan seringkali tidak mengembangkan otonomi individu. Pendidikan hanya berjalan sebagai monopoli radikal dalam hal pembelajaran dan teknologi yang hanya berusaha memenuhi keinginan segelintir orang yang memiliki otoritas tertentu. Ivan Illich, salah seorang pemikir revolusioner, mengusik para pemerhati pendidikan untuk mengkritisi eksistensi lembaga pendidikan. Lebih lanjut lagi, dia juga menggulirkan usulan untuk melakukan reformasi persekolahan. Di satu sisi lahirnya pemikiran yang mengkritisi lembaga-lembaga pendidikan pada dasarnya bersifat positif, tapi di sisi lain ide ini juga tidak bisa diterima begitu saja. Para pendidik juga perlu mengkritisi ide-ide penyadaran tersebut.

Abstract

The quality of education is really determined by various factors, but the most dominant and important is a teacher's professionalism. Almost all effort on curriculum reform and teaching method implementation, is depends on the teachers ultimately. Any teachers lack of ability of the teaching material, teaching strategy, motivate the students to achieve high perpformance, will not improve the quality of education. The teacher acts as one crucial component in educational system. Therefore, since at the very the beginning, the ability of micro teaching practice at a college should be prepared well in order to be a professional teacher in the future. In the modern education system, teacher candidates are required to have professional skills that include the ability to plan learning, learning implementation, and learning evaluation. Without mastering all these aspects, the teacher will not be able to achieve the learning objectives optimally.

Abstract

This research aims to discern the interest and to identify the contribution of internal and external factors of Electrical Engineering Installation Power Vocational Program of XII students at State Vocational High School (SMKN) 2 Langsa to continue to university level.  This research is a quantitative descriptive research. The research subjects were students 51 students of class XII Electrical Engineering Installation Power Vocational Program at SMK Negeri 2 Langsa. Data was collected by using questionnaire by using validity construction that have been prepared to experts (expert judgment) and the factor analysis method. Instrument reliability tests were calculated by means of internal consistency by using the Alpha formula. The amount of interest analyzed by the descriptive method and the factors that influence the interest to enter higher education are tested statistically by multiple regression with the help of SPSS version 22. The results of the questionnaire data show that students’ interest in countinuing to university from internal factors and external factors in SMK Negeri 2 Langsa had 73.81% average mean score. Interest in university entrance had 74.31% mean score and internal factors had the average percentage of 79.42% mean score and are categorized as high score. External factors had 69.06% mean score and categorized as high too. The relationship between internal factors with the interest for university entrance is very strong, with a 0.624 correlation coefficient score. Meanwhile, internal factors are the most influencing factors, namely the regression coefficient of 0.295 and external factors with a regression coefficient of 0.113 contributing to student interest for university entrance.

Abstract

In Indonesian Islamic education, Mahmud Yunus is an educationalist who is full of idea and discourse to reform the Islamic education. Moreover, as the one who get involved in Religious department bureaucracy and other structural positions in Islamic institution, including his last career as the first rector of Imam Bonjol Islamic Institution of Padang, Mahmud Yunus has some chances to manifest his idea and discourse widely through his positions. If we try to analyze his idea on reformation in education and teaching, we can clearly see that he has put serious attention to Arabic Language and Arabic teaching. He has written many books such as Arab-Indonesia Dictionary (Qamus), Arabic Language Textbook, called Durus al-Lughah al-‘Arabiyyah, and a special book about Arabic Teaching.

Abstract

The utilization of flash cards is one of the teaching methods in early literacy learning within Bahasa Indonesia subject. These are simply cards that display the written word. Flash cards can be bright and colorful and make a real impact on visual learners. Among many methods, it was considered one of the best fit for children at reading age. This article aims to determine the extent of the use of flash card as a medium of learning in improving the reading skills of students of class I MIN Rukoh Banda Aceh for the academic year of 2012/2013. This study is a Classroom Action Research (CAR), which is the research conducted in a classroom using specific learning media, which in this regard is the flash cards. Data for this study is gathered through test results, observation during the learning process, and interview with teacher and several selected students. Data were analyzed using descriptive-comparative technique, in which each test results of the students’ reading abilities were compared to each other. Further, the results is described in an assessment data in the form of grades. The findings shows that teaching process using flash cards as a medium of learning are able improve early reading skills of students of MIN Rukoh Banda Aceh, especially those who are in class I, for the academic year 2012/2013.
