Abstract

This development research aims to develop, test the validation, practicality and effectiveness of e-modules in improving students' critical thinking skills for plant physiology courses. The material used in the implementation stage focuses on the material of Nutrition and Nutrient Transport in Plants. The method used Research and Development (R&D) development using the Lee & Owens model development design. The research was conducted at the State University of Malang on students majoring in biology education semester 3 totaling 33 experimental class students and 33 control class students. The results obtained from material validation are 100% with very valid criteria. Furthermore, media validation is 95.47% with very valid criteria, practitioner validation with a percentage value of 97.27% with very valid criteria. Practicality test averaged 96% including very practical criteria. The effectiveness test was obtained through the e-module implementation stage with the Nonrandomized Control-Group Pretest-Posttest Design research design using the N-gain score calculation which was 0.70 with high criteria on experimental class. 0.29 for control class which was on low criteria. Based on the test results that have been carried out, the development of e-modules based on Problem-based learning in critical thinking skills is said to be valid, practical, and effective in improving students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

This research aims to determine species diversity of dragonflies at the Rawa Danau Nature Reserve. The methodology of this research is an exploration of collecting data techniques using the sweeping net. This research was held in January to December. Sampling was done with 2 sessions are 09.00-11.00 WIB and 15.00-17.00 WIB with three times repetition each session. Sampling was done at two places especially in Sukatani and Cikedung. The procedures of this research are samples were taken by insect net and the abiotic components were calculated such climatic (humidity, air temperature, light intensity, wind velocity) edaphic (soil moisture, soil Ph). Based on the results, Sukatani obtained a diversity index was 1.98 and Cikedung was 2.46 with both categories are medium. Then, Sukatani obtained an evenness index was 0.67 and Cikedung was 0.87 with both categories are high. Environmental conditions are in the optimal range for the life of dragonflies. The final results of this research were made as a field guide book based on conservation education species diversity of dragonfly at Rawa Danau Nature Reserve with a score of expert test assessment obtained 80,39% with the category is good as an educative reading source.

Abstract

Essential oils are also commonly known as flying oils which can generally be obtain from roots, plant parts, bark, leaves, stems, seed fruits, and flower by steam distillation. The aim of the research is to determine the chemicals components of essential oils of basil (Ocimum basilicum L.) and citronella (Cymbopogon nardus (L.) Rendle) leaves obtained from farmers and processors in Karanganyar, Central Java. Essential oil composition was analysis use gas chromatographys-mass spectrophotometry (GC-MS) method. The finding explain namely chemical component of basil leaf essential oil show that the main component were Estragole (55.80%) and Linalool (22.35%), while in citronella essential oil show that the main component were Geraniol (26.49%), Citronellol (14.53%) and Citronellal (10.95%).

Abstract

Digital literacy is understood as a person's way of thinking, attitude and skills in using electronic and digital devices appropriately to help with work. One of the efforts to integrate digital technology into learning is by using learning applications, namely the Kuartet Biologi application. This research focuses on building students' digital literacy and cognitive learning outcomes through the Kuartet Biologi application. This study involved 58 students of class XI IPA SMAS Elim Makassar, South Sulawesi using a pre-test-post-test design with a non-equivalent control group. The pretest score as a covariant to analyse students' cognitive learning outcomes. Digital literacy was done by observation from the observer as many as 15 statements. Digital literacy was analysed using ANOVA test. Cognitive learning outcomes were analysed using ANCOVA test. The results showed the effect of digital literacy is 0.00 < 0.05 and cognitive learning outcomes of students who used the Biology Quartet application with classes did not use it is 0.00 < 0.05. The Kuartet Biologi application is proven to be more effective in building digital literacy and cognitive learning outcomes of students to build cognitive, technical, social-emotional, and behavioural dimensions in using electronic devices while learning and helping students have better knowledge.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the characteristics of SGOE learning model development (Stimulation, Guide, Observation, Evaluation) and determine the problem-solving ability of students in junior high school. The research method to be used in this study is the 4D method ( Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate). Trial design using LKPD Design. And the results of the effectiveness of the SGOE learning model show that it can improve students' problem-solving skills which is characterized by an increase in scores at meeting 1 obtained an average of 59% in the category of quite good. And at the 2nd meeting, an average score of 82% was obtained in the good category. SGOE learning model in students allows it to be developed more broadly with the development and problems and challenges faced by students in junior high schools around coffee plantations.

The data from the study were then analyzed descriptively and tabulated to show a description of the morphological characteristics of each type of medicinal plant found. The results showed that in Kelurahan Ciracas, there were 30 types of plants from 24 families that were used by the Betawi tribal community in the area as medicinal materials. Parts of medicinal plant organs utilized include roots, stems, leaves, tubers, and rhizomes. Meanwhile, the processing is carried out by boiling, pounding, mashing, and kneading. How to use it is done by drinking, pasting, smearing, and dripping on the body part that is sick or to be treated.

Abstract

Teachers in the 21st century are expected to be mastering 21st century skills, so pre-service teachers need to be prepared to become professional teachers starting from the education period while studying at university. Mastery of digital and scientific literacy is considered to be the core of the literacy required in 21st century education. This research is a quantitative study using the survey method. The subject of this research is first year science education students at a university in Magelang, totaling 141 students. Descriptive statistics were employed to investigate the digital and scientific literacy. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that pre-service teachers' self-perception of digital and scientific literacy are in the medium category, which means that there is a need to develop effective course designs for promoting both literacies among preservice teachers in order to support the quality of teacher education in Indonesia.
