Abstract

The purpose of this study was to compare the effectiveness of using the Problem Based Learning (PBL), Problem Solving (PS), and Problem Posing (PP) learning models in achieving students' creative thinking skills in social arithmetic material for a grade 7 class. Creative thinking skills is a problem variable because many students cannot answer the Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) questions. This type of research is quasi-experimental with a population of grade 7 students and a sample of 3 classes. The sampling technique used simple random sampling. Data collection techniques used were documentation, observation, and tests. The test was used to measure students' creative thinking skills. Data analysis techniques used one-way Anova and post hoc (Scheffe test). The test data were analyzed using SPSS 16.0 for Windows software. The results of the study concluded that the Problem Based Learning (PBL) and Problem Solving (PS) learning models were effective in achieving students 'creative thinking abilities and the Problem Posing (PP) learning model was not effective in achieving students' creative thinking abilities. Meanwhile, there are differences in the effectiveness of using the Problem Based Learning (PBL), Problem Solving (PS), and Problem Posing (PP) learning models in the achievement of students' creative thinking abilities on social arithmetic material for grade 7 students and there are significant average differences in ability. Creative thinking of students on indicators of flexibility, and originality between groups of students who are taught with problem-based learning (PBL) and problem posing (PP) learning models.BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRACT: Tujuan penelitian ini untuk untuk mengetahui perbandingan efektivitas penggunaan model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning (PBL), Problem Solving (PS), Problem Posing (PP) dalam pencapaian kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa pada materi aritmatika sosial kelas VII SMP. Pengambilan kemampuan berpikir kreatif sebagaivariabel masalah dikarenakan banyak siswa yang tidak bisa menjawab soal Higher of Thhingking Skill (HOTS).  Jenis penelitian adalah eksperimen semu dengan populasi siswa kelas VII dan sampel sebanyak 3 kelas. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan sampel acak sederhana (simple random sampling).  Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan dokumentasi, observasi, dan tes. Tes digunakan untuk mengukur kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa. Teknik analisis data menggunakan one-way Anova dan post hoc (Uji Scheffe). Data tes  di analisis menggunakan software SPSS 16.0 for Windows. Hasil penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning (PBL) dan Problem Solving (PS) efektif dalam pencapaian kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa dan model pembelajaran Problem Posing (PP) tidak efektif dalam pencapaian kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa. Sementara itu, terdapat perbedaan efektivitas penggunaan model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning (PBL), Problem Solving (PS), dan Problem Posing (PP) dalam pencapaian kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa pada materi aritmatika sosial kelas VII SMP serta terdapat perbedaan rata-rata yang signifikan kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa pada indikator fleksibelitas, dan originalitas antara kelompok siswa yang diajar dengan model pembelajaran problem based learning (PBL) dan problem posing (PP).

Abstract

The Goldbach Conjecture, one of the oldest problems in mathematics, has fascinated and inspired many mathematicians for ages. In 1742 German mathematician Christian Goldbach, in a letter addressed to Leonhard Euler, proposed a conjecture. The modern-day version of the Binary/Strong Goldbach conjecture asserts that: Every even integer greater than 2 can be written as the sum of two primes. The conjecture had been verified empirically up to 4 × 1018, its proof however remains elusive, which seems to confirm that:Some problems in mathematics remain buried deep in the catacombs of slow progress ... mind stretching mysteries await to be discovered beyond the boundaries of former thought. Avery Carr (2013) The research was aimed at exposition, of the intricate structure of the fabric of the Goldbach Conjecture problem. The research methodology explores several topics, before the definite proof of the Goldbach Conjecture can be presented. The Ternary Goldbach Conjecture Corollary follows the proof of the Binary Goldbach Conjecture as well as the representation of even numbers by the difference of two primes Corollary. The research demonstrates that the Goldbach Conjecture is a genuine arithmetical question.

Abstract

This study describes students' ability to solve HOTS problems according to their self-confidence level in a grade 8 class at a junior high school in Pallangga. The type of research used is descriptive qualitative research. The research procedure includes the preparation, implementation, and analysis stages of research results. The subjects in the study were 3 grade 8 students at SMP Negeri 5 in the district of Pallangga. The subjects were selected by giving a questionnaire to all grade 8 students to select students who had high self-confidence, moderate self-confidence, and low self-confidence. The research refers to the four stages of the ability to solve mathematical problems based on Polya's steps, namely: understanding the problem, planning problem-solving strategies, carrying out calculations, and evaluating the results of problem-solving. The research instrument was a self-confidence questionnaire, an ability test to solve HOTS math problems based on Polya's steps, and interview guidelines. The results showed that there were differences in the ability to solve mathematical HOTS questions based on Polya's steps by the three selected subjects. The results showed that subjects with high self-confidence and moderate self-confidence were able to meet the indicators of understanding the problem, while subjects with low self-confidence were unable to meet the indicators of understanding the problem. At the stage of planning a problem-solving strategy, subjects with high self-confidence and moderate self-confidence were able to meet the indicators, while subjects with low self-confidence were unable to meet the indicators. At the stage of carrying out calculations, subjects with high self-confidence were able to meet the indicators, while subjects with moderate self-confidence and low self-confidence were unable to meet the indicators. And at the stage of re-examining the results of problem-solving, subjects with high self-confidence were able to meet the indicators, while subjects with moderate self-confidence and low self-confidence were unable to meet the indicator.BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRACT: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan menyelesaikan masalah matematika soal HOTS ditinjau dari kepercayaan diri pada siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 5 Pallangga. Jenis penelitian adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Prosedur penelitian meliputi persiapan, pelaksanaan dan tahap analisis hasil penelitian. Subjek dalam penelitian adalah 3 orang siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 5 Pallangga. Subjek dipilih dengan memberikan angket kepada seluruh siswa kelas VIII untuk memilih siswa yang memiliki kepercayaan diri tinggi, kepercayaan diri sedang, dan kepercayaan diri rendah. Penelitian mengacu pada empat tahap kemampuan menyelesaikan masalah matematika berdasarkan langkah Polya yaitu: memahami masalah, merencanakan strategi pemecahan masalah, melaksanakan perhitungan, dan memeriksa kembali hasil penyelesaian masalah. Instrumen penelitian adalah angket kepercayaan diri, tes kemampuan menyelesaikan masalah matematika soal HOTS berdasarkan langkah Polya, dan pedoman wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan kemampuan menyelesaikan masalah matematika soal HOTS berdasarkan langkah Polya oleh ketiga subjek yang dipilih. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diperoleh bahwa subjek dengan kepercayaan diri tinggi dan kepercayaan diri sedang mampu memenuhi indikator memahami masalah, sementara subjek dengan kepercayaan diri rendah tidak mampu memenuhi indikator memahami masalah. Pada tahap  merencanakan strategi pemecahan masalah, subjek dengan kepercayaan diri tinggi dan kepercayaan diri sedang mampu memenuhi indikator, sementara subjek dengan kepercayaan diri rendah tidak mampu memenuhi indikator. Pada tahap melaksanakan perhitugan, subjek dengan kepercayaan diri tinggi mampu memenuhi indikator, sementara subjek dengan kepercayaan diri sedang dan kepercayaan diri rendah tidak mampu memenuhi indikator. Dan pada tahap memeriksa kembali hasil penyelesaian masalah, subjek dengan kepercayaan diri tinggi mampu memenuhi indikator, sementara subjek dengan kepercayaan diri sedang dan kepercayaan diri rendah tidak mampu memenuhi indikator.

Abstract

Mathematical knowledge and skill are needed by all students in their studies and future careers. Students’ perceived relevance of mathematics in their future careers influences their attitude towards learning mathematics. This study explored student and professional nurses' perceived relevance and application of mathematics in the nursing profession. A sample size of 301 nursing students in a University in Ghana and 12 professional nurses participated in the study. Data was collected using a questionnaire and interview and was analyzed using descriptive statistics and thematic analysis. The study revealed that both the professional and the student nurses perceived Statistics, Ratio and Rates, and Percentages as the topics in school mathematics that they find most relevant and applicable to their study and practice of nursing. It is recommended that the senior high school mathematics teachers may need to always share the professional applicability of any topic they teach, by using authentic and real-life situations in various professions.

Abstract

Based on PISA research, Indonesian students' mathematical abilities are still below average with one of the assessment indicators being critical thinking skills. This was also found by the authors at the observed schools. The average percentage of students' critical thinking skills in grade 8 is 36% or at less intervals. Meanwhile, the problem-based learning model (PBM) is seen as effective in helping students' critical thinking skills. Thus, the purpose of this study is to describe the critical thinking skills of grade 8 students using the problem-based learning model. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The conclusion of this paper shows that students' critical thinking skills using the PBM model have an average percentage of 65% for the three indicators. The characteristics of PBM by providing contextual problems can train students' critical thinking power. The stages in PBM make students actively involved in learning by asking various questions as well as in group discussions in designing problem solving. In Christian education, students' critical thinking skills are trained to be able to understand God's truth. Through this, students are expected to live responsibly. Suggestions that can be given are to train students' critical thinking skills in schools through appropriate learning models or approaches. In the implementation of PBM, it is better to pay attention to the estimated time in each stage.BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRAK: Berdasarkan penelitian PISA, kemampuan matematika siswa Indonesia masih di bawah rata-rata dengan salah satu indikator penilaiannya ialah kemampuan berpikir kritis. Hal ini juga ditemukan oleh penulis di sekolah yang diobservasi. Persentase rata-rata kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa kelas VIII ialah 36% atau pada interval kurang. Sementara itu, model pembelajaran berbasis masalah (PBM) ditinjau efektif dalam membantu kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. Sehingga, tujuan penelitian ini ialah untuk memaparkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa kelas VIII melalui model pembelajaran berbasis masalah. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif. Kesimpulan penulisan ini menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa melalui model PBM memiliki persentase rata-rata untuk ketiga indikatornya sebesar 65%. Karakteristik PBM dengan pemberian masalah kontekstual dapat melatih daya pikir kritis siswa. Tahapan dalam PBM membuat siswa terlibat aktif dalam pembelajaran dengan mengajukan berbagai pertanyaan juga dalam diskusi kelompok dalam merancang penyelesaian masalah. Dalam pendidikan Kristen, kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa dilatih untuk dapat memahami kebenaran Allah. Melalui hal tersebut, siswa diharapkan hidup bertanggung jawab. Saran yang dapat diberikan adalah melatih kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa di sekolah melalui model atau pendekatan pembelajaran yang sesuai. Dalam pelaksanaan PBM, sebaiknya memperhatikan estimasi waktu dalam setiap tahapannya.

Abstract

Transparency is an attitude of life that can be used as a role model for others.  The role of the teacher as a role model in the classroom can be implemented through ways of speaking and behaving with students. Therefore, to be a role model for students, a teacher must have good personality competencies. However, as the author experienced, Practice Field Experience Christian teachers are not yet capable of having good personality competencies. This is because they have not been able to control and manage emotions when faced with problems that occur in teaching online. In addition to explaining the personality competence of Christian teachers, the writing of this article aims to outline the efforts of the author, as a Christian teacher, in improving personality competencies to become a role model for students. The research method used is qualitative descriptive. This method is done by revealing facts, phenomena, variables, and circumstances that occur during the research. The results of the research are described based on real situations.  Based on the results of this research, it can be concluded that to improve the personality competence of a Christian teacher, there needs to be an effort to deepen the personal relationship with God through understanding the Word of God. If a Christian teacher has improved personality competence by learning the Word of God, then a Christian teacher in practice will be a role model for students.BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRACT: Keteladanan adalah sikap hidup yang dapat dijadikan panutan bagi orang lain. Peran guru sebagai seorang teladan di dalam kelas harus diimplementasikan melalui cara berbicara dan bersikap yang baik dengan siswa. Oleh karena itu, untuk menjadi teladan bagi siswa seorang guru harus memiliki kompetensi kepribadian yang baik. Pada kenyataannya, ketika Praktek Pengalaman Lapangan 2 penulis sebagai seorang guru Kristen belum cakap memiliki kompetensi kepribadian yang baik. Hal ini dikarenakan penulis sebagai seorang guru Kristen belum dapat mengontrol dan mengelola emosi ketika dihadapkan dengan suatu masalah yang terjadi dalam mengajar secara online. Selain menjelaskan kompetensi kepribadian guru Kristen, penulisan artikel ini bertujuan untuk menguraikan upaya penulis sebagai seorang guru kristen dalam memperbaiki kompetensi kepribadian untuk menjadi teladan bagi murid. Adapun metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif. Metode ini dilakukan dengan mengungkapkan fakta, fenomena, variabel dan keadaan yang terjadi saat penelitian berlangsung. Hasil penelitian kemudian dideskripsikan berdasarkan situasi nyata.  Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa untuk memperbaiki kompetensi kepribadian guru Kristen perlu adanya upaya memperdalam hubungan pribadi dengan Tuhan melalui pemahaman akan Firman Tuhan. Jika seorang guru Kristen sudah memperbaiki kompetensi kepribadian dengan belajar Firman Tuhan, maka seorang guru Kristen dalam prakteknya akan menjadi panutan bagi siswa.

Abstract

School math learning is part of the educational process that provides students with a mathematics learning experience through a planned set of activities to achieve established goals. The goal of learning mathematics in schools in Indonesia is oriented towards achieving a balance between the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains. In fact, learning mathematics in schools in Indonesia so far has focused on efforts to achieve high scores from the cognitive domain. But along with the development and change of curriculum, affective and psychomotor domains are receiving more priority to develop. In this paper, the author wants to examine the affective domain by conducting a study of character values in school mathematics learning through an analogy approach. This paper aims to contribute ideas related to the development of affective domains in learning mathematics through the study conducted. The research method used is a literature study. While the strategy for conducting the study is an analogical approach that is associated with the understanding of quantitative and qualitative relationships. Based on the results, it is evident that in school mathematics learning implied character values are learned. The author hopes that this study will be useful to math teachers in developing the affective domain of math learning in schools. The implication is that the goal of learning mathematics, namely the balance between the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains, can be achieved.BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRACT: Pembelajaran matematika sekolah adalah bagian dari proses pendidikan yang memberikan pengalaman belajar matematika kepada siswa melalui serangkaian kegiatan yang terencana untuk mencapai tujuan yang telah ditetapkan. Tujuan pembelajaran matematika sekolah di Indonesia berorientasi untuk mewujudkan keseimbangan antara domain kognitif, afektif, dan psikomotor. Pada kenyataannya pembelajaran matematika sekolah di Indonesia selama ini menitikberatkan pada upaya pencapaian nilai yang tinggi dari domain kognitif. Tetapi bersamaan dengan pengembangan dan pergantian kurikulum, domain afektif dan psikomotor mendapat prioritas untuk dikembangkan. Oleh karena itu, dalam paper ini penulis ingin mengembangkan domain afektif dengan melakukan kajian nilai-nilai karakter dalam pembelajaran matematika sekolah melalui pendekatan analogi. Penulisan paper ini bertujuan untuk memberikan kontribusi pemikiran terkait pengembangan domain afektif dalam pembelajaran matematika. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah studi literatur. Sedangkan strategi melakukan kajian adalah pendekatan analogi yang dikaitkan dengan pemahaman hubungan kuantitatif dan kualitatif. Berdasarkan hasilnya dapat diketahui bahwa didalam pembelajaran matematika sekolah terdapat nilai-nilai karakter yang tersirat untuk dipelajari. Harapan penulis, kajian ini bermanfaat untuk guru matematika dalam mengembangkan domain afektif pembelajaran matematika di sekolah. Implikasinya tujuan pembelajaran matematika yaitu keseimbangan antara domain kognitif, afektif dan psikomotor dapat tercapai.

Abstract

The digital era is synonymous with the use of technology that is beneficial for education. The use of technology must be balanced with character education to provide direction to students in utilizing technology. The decline in character in the digital era is evidence that character education has not been implemented optimally so that students deviate from the use of technology and internet networks. Teachers play an important role in overcoming character decline by instilling character values based on Christian ethics based on the Bible. Christian ethics is the basis for providing character education in the digital era. The purpose of this study was to determine the teacher's role in implementing character education to overcome the decline in student character in the digital era which was reviewed based on the study of Christian ethics. The method used is a literature review, namely a description of reading materials that are relevant to the research topic. Based on the literature review that has been carried out, it can be concluded that teachers have an important role in implementing character education to overcome the decline in student character in the digital era. The teacher has a role as an agent of reconciliation who guides students to have a Christ-like character with the aim of developing a Christian mindset, social responsibility, mental, physical, and social health and preparing students for the world of work.BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRACT: Era digital identik dengan penggunaan teknologi yang bermanfaat bagi pendidikan. Penggunaan teknologi harus diimbangi dengan pendidikan karakter untuk memberikan arahan kepada siswa dalam memanfaatkan teknologi. Kemerosotan karakter di era digital adalah bukti pendidikan karakter belum dilaksanakan secara maksimal sehingga siswa melakukan penyimpangan terhadap penggunaan teknologi dan jaringan internet. Guru berperan penting untuk mengatasi kemerosotan karakter dengan menanamkan nilai-nilai karakter berdasarkan etika Kristen yang berlandaskan pada Alkitab. Etika Kristen merupakan dasar dalam memberikan pendidikan karakter di era digital. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui peran guru dalam menerapkan pendidikan karakter untuk mengatasi kemerosotan karakter siswa di era digital yang ditinjau berdasarkan kajian etika Kristen. Metode yang digunakan adalah kajian literatur yaitu deskripsi mengenai bahan-bahan bacaan yang relevan dengan topik penelitian. Berdasarkan kajian literatur yang telah dilakukan, dapat disimpulkan bahwa guru memiliki peran yang penting dalam menerapkan pendidikan karakter untuk mengatasi kemerosotan karakter siswa pada era digital. Guru memiliki peran sebagai agen rekonsiliasi yang menuntun siswa untuk dapat memiliki karakter serupa Kristus dengan tujuan mengembangkan pola pikir Kristen, tanggung jawab sosial, kesehatan mental, fisik, dan sosial serta mempersiapkan siswa untuk dunia kerja.

Abstract

One of the benchmarks of individual quality is seen in numeracy literacy skills. The purpose of this study was to identify the numeracy literacy skills of grade 11 students at Warta Bakti Kefamenanu High School, Nusa Tenggara Timur, in solving numeracy literacy problems with the minimum competency assessment (MCA) instrument in integral and domain algebra. This research was descriptive qualitative. This research technique was carried out with a test in the form of MCA, identifying the variations of errors made, identifying them in the types of errors, and mapping them to numeracy literacy indicators. Instrument items were taken from previous research and modified and content validity was done. The result of data analysis shows that participants who had principal errors met the numeracy literacy indicators item 1 and item 2, participants who had operating errors met the numeracy literacy indicator item 1, and participants who had conceptual errors did not meet all numeracy literacy indicators.BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRACT: Salah satu tolak ukur kualitas individu dilihat dari kemampuan literasi numerasi. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengidentifikasi kemampuan literasi numerasi siswa SMA Kelas XI SMAS Warta Bakti Kefamenanu, Nusa Tenggara Timur dalam menyelesaikan masalah literasi numerasi model instrumen asesmen kompetensi minimum (AKM) pada domain aljabar topik integral. Jenis penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Teknik penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tes berbentuk AKM, mengidentifikasi variasi kesalahan yang dilakukan, mengidentifikasinya ke dalam jenis/tipe kesalahan, dan memetakan pada indikator literasi numerasi. Untuk butir instrumen, diambil dari penelitian sebelumnya dan dimodifikasi kemudian dilakukan proses validitas isi. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah partisipan yang memiliki kesalahan prinsip memenuhi indikator literasi numerasi butir 1 dan butir 2, partisipan yang memiliki kesalahan operasi memenuhi indikator literasi numerasi butir 1, dan partisipan yang memiliki kesalahan konsep tidak memenuhi semua indikator literasi numerasi.

Abstract

During the COVID-19 pandemic, students were educated via online learning. Teachers and students around the world faced considerable challenges in coping with the sudden shifts in teaching and learning methods. In facing this challenge, teachers were required to be creative leaders in their teaching approach. Both teachers and students had to adapt quickly to change. One way to make learning more enjoyable and interesting is through collaborative learning. During online learning, teachers may use the Breakout Room feature of the Zoom application for collaborative learning. Teacher leadership and student motivation are two important elements in sustaining collaborative learning. The purpose of this quantitative study was to examine the effect of teacher leadership and student motivation through collaborative learning on the cognitive abilities of students at XYZ Elementary School. Thirty-six grade six students completed the online questionnaire. Research calculations using path analysis through the PLS SEM software were used to test the proposed hypothesis. The results showed that teacher leadership had a positive effect on collaborative learning and students' cognitive abilities. It was also found that student motivation had a positive effect on collaborative learning and students' cognitive abilities. Finally, collaborative learning has a positive impact on students’ cognitive abilities.BAHASA INDONESIA ABSTRACT: Dalam masa pandemi COVID-19, siswa harus melalui pendidikan mereka dengan pembelajaran daring dan pembelajaran jarak jauh. Guru dan siswa di seluruh dunia mengalami tantangan yang cukup berat untuk mengatasi perpindahan metode pembelajaran dan pengajaran yang mendadak. Dalam menghadapi tantangan ini, guru dituntut untuk menjadi pemimpin yang kreatif dalam mengajar dan para guru dan siswa harus cepat beradaptasi dengan perubahan. Salah satu cara untuk membuat pembelajaran menjadi lebih menyenangkan adalah melalui pembelajaran kolaboratif. Pembelajaran kolaboratif dalam pembelajaran daring dapat menggunakan fitur Breakout Room dari aplikasi Zoom. Kepemimpinan guru dan motivasi siswa adalah dua elemen penting dalam keberlangsungan dan keberhasilan pembelajaran kolaboratif. Tujuan dari penelitian kuantitatif ini adalah untuk menguji pengaruh kepemimpinan guru dan motivasi siswa melalui pembelajaran kolaboratif terhadap kemampuan kognitif siswa di Sekolah Dasar XYZ. Tiga puluh enam siswa SD Kelas 6 menyelesaikan kuesioner online. Perhitungan penelitian menggunakan analisis jalur melalui metode PLS SEM digunakan untuk menguji hipotesis yang diajukan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kepemimpinan guru berpengaruh positif terhadap pembelajaran kolaboratif dan kemampuan kognitif siswa. Ditemukan juga bahwa motivasi siswa berpengaruh positif terhadap pembelajaran kolaboratif dan kemampuan kognitif siswa. Hasil terakhir adalah pembelajaran kolaboratif berdampak positif terhadap kemampuan kognitif siswa
