Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of the Snowball Throwing method in the Discovery Learning Model on the learning outcomes. This quasi-experimental research with a posttest-only control group design was carried out in the even semester of the 2023/2024 academic year. The research sample was determined at simple random from 6 classes of XI MIPA SMAN 22 Makassar as the research population. The research sample was class XI MIPA 3 as the experimental group and class XI MIPA 4 as the control group. Data collection was carried out by giving a multiple choices test at the end of the meeting. Based on results of data analysis using descriptive statistics, the average value for the experimental group was 80.16 and the control group was 68.66. Hypothesis testing with inferential statistical analysis using the Mann Whitney non-parametric test shows that the Zcount = 7.57 is greater than the Ztable = 1.64 at a significance level of 0.05. This shows that there is an influence of the Snowball Throwing method in the Discovery Learning Model on the learning outcomes of class XI MIPA students at SMAN 22 Makassar Basic Study of Buffer Solutions

Abstract

This research is a quantitative study which aimed to find out: (1) The effect of practicum learning based on the environment to students’ motivation, (2) The influence of practicum learning based on the surrounding environment on students’ science learning outcomes. This research design uses a nonequivalent control group design that involves two groups students of VIII class at SMPN 4 Kendari, namely the control class and the experimental class which receive different learning treatments. Data analysis techniques were descriptive and inferential statistical analysis. The research results at the 5% significance level show that: (1) The results of the post-test ttest for learning motivation obtained a tcount of 4.96 and a ttable of 1.67. The value of tcount > ttable means H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted, (2) The results of the post-test ttest on student learning outcomes obtained a value of tcount of 5.63 and ttable of 1.67. The value of tcount > ttable means H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. So, it can be concluded that practicum learning based on the surrounding environment has an influence on motivation and science learning outcomes at SMP Negeri 4 Kendari.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze students' misconceptions about the material of the structure and function of living things using the CRI method. This research is expected to provide useful information to improve the quality of science learning and help students to understand the concept of the structure and function of living things better. This study used a descriptive research design with a quantitative approach with 20 multiple choice questions to analyze student misconceptions about the structure and function of living things using the Certainty of Response Index (CRI) method. The CRI scale used consists of four options, namely very unsure, unsure, sure, and very sure. This research was conducted at SMP N 2 Karangawen on students of class VIII D totaling 26 students who had studied the material of the structure and function of living things. Based on the results of the study, the data obtained that the percentage of students' misconceptions is an average percentage of 63.27%.

The subjects were a teacher and students at SMP Negeri 27 Makassar class VIII 11. The instrument was a reading interest questionnaire and a learning outcomes test in the form of multiple choice questions. The research instruments for measuring product practicality are teacher response questionnaires and student response questionnaires. The results of the e-magazine validity analysis obtained an average of 4.6 in the “valid” category. The results of analysis on the practicality of e-magazines by educators were 94.2% in the “very positive” category. The results of analysis on the practicality of e-magazines by students were 81.3% in the “very positive” category. The results of analysis on the effectiveness of e-magazines in increasing reading interest obtained an N-gain of 0.4 in the “medium” category. The results of analysis on the effectiveness of e-magazines in improving learning outcomes obtained an N-gain of 0.5 in the “medium” category. Based on the description, it can be concluded that the Canva-based e-magazine is valid, practical and effective for application to the topic of the Solar System.

Abstract

This study investigates how much influence the use of virtual PhET media has on students' critical thinking understanding in science learning. The research method used meta-analysis. Searches were conducted on the mendeley website, Google Schoolar, reference management software, and Harzing application with the keywords "influence", "virtual PhET", and "critical thinking". The results included 30 research journal articles and found 9 research journal articles that fit the meta-analysis method. The results showed that the effect size was high, with an average of (1.31), and the interpretation of the effect size showed that the use of virtual PhET media had an 88% influence on students' critical thinking in science learning. In conclusion, the use of PhET virtual media has an impact on students' critical thinking in science learning.

Abstract

This research aims to describe and explain ethnoscience studies in the process of making laklak in Sading Village as support for junior high school science learning materials. This research uses qualitative research with an ethnography approach. The research was carried out in Sading Village, Badung. Determining the respondents in this study used purposive sampling and snowball sampling techniques obtained from 3 laklak producers and using techniques purposive sampling obtained 3 science teachers at SMP Negeri 5 Mengwi. The data collection techniques used were observation, interviews, documentation and questionnaires. Data analysis techniques use the Miles and Huberman model, including data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the research show that the process of making laklak in Sading Village consists of several stages, including making suji leaf water, making laklak dough, baking laklak and serving laklak. The results of scientific studies from making laklak in Sading Village can be supporting material in junior high school science learning, that is classification of living things, pressure of substances, classification of matter and its changes, heat and its displacement, simple businesses and planes, movement systems in humans, food and the human digestive system, additives, and air pollution.
