Abstract

Academic responsibility is an important attitude that students must have in order to achieve academic success. However, there are still students who do not fully understand the importance of responsibility in fulfilling their academic obligations. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of behavioral group counseling based on symbolic modeling in efforts to increase students' academic responsibility. The study used a one-group pretest-posttest design with a quantitative approach. The subjects in this study were 12 students from PGRI Kanjuruhan University in Malang who were selected using purposive sampling. The instruments used were an academic responsibility scale, and the data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test with the assistance of SPSS 22. The results of the analysis showed a significant increase in academic responsibility scores after the treatment was administered (p < 0.05). Thus, behavioral group counseling based on symbolic modeling is effective in improving students' academic responsibility

Abstract

The increasing participation in running communities has been driven by the growing awareness of the benefits of exercise for both physical and mental health. This study aims to analyze the dominant factor motivating individuals in running communities—whether mental health or physical health plays a more significant role. This research employs a quantitative approach with an explanatory design, involving 65 respondents from running communities in Parepare City, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire measuring physical health, mental health, and sports participation motivation, with multiple linear regression as the primary data analysis technique. The findings indicate that mental health has a more significant impact on individuals’ motivation to participate in running communities compared to physical health. Regression analysis reveals that mental health positively influences sports participation motivation, whereas physical health does not show a significant effect. These findings suggest that psychological factors, such as emotional well-being and stress-coping mechanisms, play a crucial role in sustaining engagement in running communities rather than physical benefits alone. The implications of this study emphasize the importance of sports-based interventions focusing on mental well-being to enhance long-term participation in physical activities.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the forms of lifestyle carried out by Tadris IPS students from the Class of 2021 and 2022 IAIN Kudus, the reasons underlying these students carrying out this hedonistic lifestyle, and its influence on academic achievement. This research uses a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews and documentation. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis and Jean Baudrillard's Consuming Society Theory. The results of the discussion show that the hedonistic lifestyle of Tadris IPS Class 2021 and 2022 IAIN Kudus students is very diverse, starting from buying luxury goods, hanging out in cafes and following social trends. The underlying factors are low self-control, personal expression, and the influence of the social environment. And the impact on student academic achievement is decreased academic performance and decreased course grades. On the other hand, the hedonistic lifestyle that is lived can give students a boost of enthusiasm.  The results of the analysis using Jean Baudrillard's Consumption Theory show that Tadris IPS Class 2021 and 2022 IAIN Kudus students are hedonistic only to express identity and gain social recognition.

The research sample amounted to 8 students based on purposive sampling technique. Collecting research data using online game addiction scale. The research data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential methods with the Wilcoxon Sign Rank Test formula. The results of descriptive analysis showed that before the provision of group guidance cognitive dispute techniques there were 4 students with high online game addiction classification and 4 students with moderate online game addiction classification. After being given group guidance on cognitive dispute techniques, there were 7 students with low online game addiction classification and 1 student with very low online game addiction classification. The results of inferential analysis show that the significance value is (Z=-2.524; p<0.05) with an average value of pretest (M=69.00; SD=9.710) and posttest (M=40.25; SD=8.242). The findings of this study indicate that students' online game addiction decreased significantly before and after being given group guidance with cognitive dispute techniques.
