Abstract

Background: Yoga has been known as an alternative therapeutic modality for reducing pain. The benefits of yoga for reducing pain have been proven. Women often suffer pain due to dysmenorrhea. The effect of Yoga on dysmenorrhea pain has not been widely studiedObjectives: This study aimed to investigate the effect of hatha yoga on pain in primary dysmenorrhea (PD). Methods: This was a randomized controlled study (RCT) involving 50 female students, 25 each in control (C) and yoga group (Y). PD was diagnosed by Working ability, Location, Intensity (Wong-Baker scale), and Days of the Pain of Dysmenorrhea (WaLIDD) questionnaire. Pain intensity was assessed by the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS). Hatha yoga training was conducted for 12 weeks. The unpaired t-test, ANOVA and Tukey post hoc, and Pearson correlation test was applied. Significance was set at p<0.05. Results: The characteristics between groups were not different. ANOVA indicated the NRS score in control was not changed, while yoga was diminished (p=0.02). Tukey post hoc showed that the second and third NRS were lower than basal NRS (p=0.038 and 0.01, respectively). The third was also lower than the second NRS (p=0.039). The second and the third NRS in yoga were lower than in control (p=0.027 and <0.01, respectively). The second magnitude of change of NRS was significantly different from the first in yoga (1.92 ±2.4 vs. 3.09 ± 2.8, p=0.018). The magnitude of NRS changes in the first (0.06±1.1 vs. 1.92±2.4, p=0.013) and second (0.02 ± 1.6 vs. 3.09 ± 2.8, p= 0.004) in yoga was significantly greater than the control. NRS score was not correlated with age, BMI, and age of menarche. Conclusions: Hatha yoga exercise ameliorate pain intensity in primary dysmenorrhea among female university students.

Abstract

Background: Resilience is considered a vital characteristic and has gained attention in midwifery practice and education. In particular, midwifery students face challenges during their education in both the academic and clinical components of the program. The clinical component of midwifery education is equally demanding. Students work in actual healthcare settings, providing care to expectant mothers and infants. They face the emotional and physical demands of long hours, the need for excellent communication skills, and exposure to complex clinical situations. Resilience enables them to stay composed in high-stress situations and learn from both successes and failures. Objectives: to offer a complete picture of the recent research on the resilience of midwifery studentsMethods: This study's methodology is a scoping review using the prism-ScR checklist, the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) critical appraisal tool, and a PEOs framework. It makes use of four databases— Google Scholar, PubMed, Scopus, and ProQuest —and its inclusion criteria are original English articles that can be accessed in full text between 2019 and 2023.Results: Out of 168 publications, we found 10 that are pertinent to the research goals. Qualitative research, cross-sectional studies, and mixed methods studies make up the research. The mapping result includes four themes: Caring, Support, Bounce back, Critical Reflective Skills, A Mandatory skill set, and Burnout. Conclusions: Empathy, resilience, professional identity, perceived concern from peers, and recognition of caring as a prerequisite for the midwifery profession were factors strongly associated with humanistic caring ability. These factors should be incorporated into the midwifery education agenda for agents of change. Facilitating the improvement of empathy, resilience, and professional identity will require strategic training, reinforcement, and transformative educational approaches from educators.

Abstract

Background: Stunting is a nutritional problem in children which is characterized by the child's height not meeting the age standards set by WHO. Indonesia is the country with the highest prevalence of stunting. Stunting has the impact of delays in various sectors, especially health, in the short term, namely increasing morbidity and mortality rates. Stunting is caused by household factors, one of which is maternal factors. One of the reasons children are stunted is the mother's age, which is still in the adolescent range. Teenage moms who become pregnant often lack the knowledge necessary to ensure their unborn kid has a healthy diet, which can lead to stunting in the infant. Objectives: This study aims to determine the effect of maternal age on the incidence of stunting in children aged 0-59 months based on 2018 Riskesdas data. Methods: This research is a quantitative study with an analytical cross-sectional design using secondary data analysis based on survey results from Riskesdas in 2018. Data collection was carried out in March 2018 by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) with locations in all provinces in Indonesia consisting of 34 provinces. The sample used was adjusted to the inclusion criteria, namely 69,155 mothers and toddlers aged 0-59 months. Research analysis was carried out using SPSS in stages based on a description of the research results and frequency distribution by presenting tables on the variables studied and using bivariate analysis simple binary logistic regression with Crude OR results with a confidence level of 95%.Results: The results obtained in this study were that there was a significant influence between maternal age and the incidence of stunting with a p value = 0.003. As many as 17.7% of stunting incidents in toddlers were experienced by teenage mothers. Conclusions: There is an influence of maternal age on the incidence of stunting in toddlers. It is hoped that health institutions can increase awareness regarding early marriage which can cause stunting.

Abstract

Background: Infant mortality remains high and is more common in the neonatal period. Causes of neonatal death include asphyxia, sepsis, infection and LBW(LBW) in preterm and term infants. One of the factors influencing the incidence of LBW is pre-eclampsia. This is because pre-eclampsia affects the utero-placental circulation so that it affects the delivery of nutrients to the fetus, resulting in fetal nutrient deprivation and intrauterine growth restriction. Objectives: This study aims to assess the relationship between pre-eclampsia and the incidence of LBW in the Mawar Room of Dr M. Yunus Bengkulu Hospital. Methods: This study used a case-control design. The sample was all babies born in M Yunus Hospital in the years 2019-2022.The case group were LBWbabies and the control group were normal birth weight babies. The total sample size was 128 with a ratio of 1:1. Samples were collected using purposive sampling with inclusion criteria of babies born alive with complete medical records. Data analysis in this study used univariate analysis to view frequency distribution, bivariate with chi-squared test and multivariate with logistic regression using SPPS software version 24. Results: The incidence of pre-eclampsia was 13.3%, 34% age at risk, parity 37.5% garande multipara, 4imipara and multipara and most (62.5%) had primary education 47.5%. There is an association of pre-eclampsia with the incidence of LBW. There is an association of age, parity and education with the incidence of LBW, but pre-eclampsia is the most dominant factor that is the most dominant risk variable that affects the incidence of LBW. Conclusions: There is an association between pre-eclampsia, age, parity and education with the incidence of LBW. Pre-eclampsia is the most dominant factor in the incidence of LBW.
