Abstract

AbstractThis study aims to determine empirically the relationship between achievement motivation and academic stress with acadeic flow in boarding school student. The population in this study were students at a boarding school, while the sampling technique used is purposive sampling technique with a total of 100 subjects. Data collection tools are achievement motivation scale, academic stress scale and academic flow scale with four alternative answers. The data analysis method used is regression of two predictors. The results of the major hypothesis obtained rx12y coefficient of 0.772 with p 0.000 (p < 0.001) which means that there is a very significant relationship between achievement motivation and academic stress with academic flow with an effective contribution of 59,5% so that the major hypothesis is accepted. The results of the first minor hypothesis are accepted because the coefficient between rx1y is 0.638 with a significance level of p of 0.000 (p <0.01) meaning that there is a very significant positive relationship between achievement motivation and academic flow with an effective contribution of 40,7%. The second minor hypothesis  is also accepted because it shows the magnitude of the coefficient between rx2y of -0.705 with a significance of p of 0.000 (p <0.01) so that there is a very significant negative relationship between academic stress and academic flow and has an effective contribution of 49,7%. Based on the results of the study, it shows that achievement motivation and academic stress affect academic flow in students and become a reference for schools to improve students' academic abilities in learning. Keywords: Achievement Motivation, Academic Stress, Academic Flow.

Abstract

AbstractAcademic achievement is the level of success in studying the learning material. It can be seen from the GPA, which is a number that describes the success of studies cumulatively (Saputro, 2022). Academic achievement factors (Arofah et al., 2020) include internal factors (physiology and psychology) and external factors (social and non-social environment). The study aimed to determine the differences in student academic achievement in terms of Self-Regulated Learning (SRL) and gender. The research sample was 160 students of the Faculty of General Medicine class of 2022 at Malahayati University, determined by random sampling technique. The data was collected using the MSLQ (Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire) scale, 2021/2022 academic year GPA, and students’ gender. The correlation test results were 0.562 (p = 0.000), where the p-value was lower than 0.05. Therefore, the proposed research hypothesis proved differences in academic achievement in terms of SRL and gender in the Faculty of General Medicine students at Malahayati University. The SRL contributed to academic achievement by 32%.

Abstract

AbstractVolunteers are people who decide to be involved in volunteering activities based on careful calculation. The activities by volunteers are voluntary and without expecting external rewards. The population in the study came from five social communities in Bandar Lampung: 1) Jendela Lampung Community, 2) Komunitas Peduli Generasi with Yayasan Rumah Singgah Peduli Lampung, 3) Komunitas Sedekah Lampung, 4) Komunitas Berbagi (Kombi), and 5) Itera Mengajar. From these five social communities, the researchers obtained a population of 202 volunteers. The researchers obtained a sample of 60 volunteers through purposive sampling techniques and screening. This study employed Likert scales data collection method, which includes a volunteer involvement scale, a social motive scale, and a group commitment scale. The data were analyzed using two predictor multiple regression analysis techniques assisted by the JASP 0.16.1.0 program for Windows. The results showed that the correlation value (r) was 0.337 with a significant p-value of 0.041 (p-value smaller than 0.05). The hypothesis is accepted; therefore, a significant relationship exists between social motives and group commitment on volunteer involvement. The R2 value of 0.155 states that the two independent variables effectively contribute 15.5%.Keywords: Volunteer Involvement, Social Motives, and Group Commitment

Abstract

This study investigated the influence of self-efficacy, authoritative parenting, and peer social support on academic stress in full-day senior high school students. The population of this study were all twelfth-grade students from Senior High School X in Lampung, with a total of 330 students. This study involved 140 twelfth-grade students as the participants were selected using a cluster random sampling technique. This study employed an academic stress scale, self-efficacy scale, authoritative parenting scale, and peer social support scale. The data was analyzed by evaluating the outer and inner models. The study employed the Structural Equation Model (SEM) for data analysis using the Smart Partial Least Square 3.3.0 application. The findings of this study include the development of a model of the influence of self-efficacy, authoritative parenting, and peer social support on academic stress that is consistent with empirical data, the absence of an effect of self-efficacy on academic stress, a very significant negative influence between authoritative parenting and academic stress, and a very significant negative influence between peer social support and academic stress. The theoretical model developed in this study is a fit model, which can be used as a valid model reference when addressing academic stress.

Abstract

The meaning of life is defined as things that are perceived as necessary, felt useful, and believed to be wonderful and can be used as a life goal. The meaning of life can be discovered in joyful and tragic situations. This research aims to examine the meaning of life among mothers with children who have been sexually abused. This study employs a qualitative method with a case study approach. The research subject is a mother with two sexually abused children. Interviews, observation, and documentation were employed as data-gathering methods. The findings revealed that women who had children who were victims of sexual abuse felt embarrassed, depressed, sad, and exhausted at first. However, the subject always strives to accept what happened to her two children, seeking help from institutes specializing in children. As a result, the subject can still perform positive things like working and expressing support, attention, love, and affection for her children. The subject's meaning of life for the circumstances that occurred to her children caused the subject to grow more attached to them because she was always connected with affection, could live his life with the conditions that transpired, and finally made the subject happy with her children. Keywords: Meaning of life; children as sexual abuse victims; mothers’ meaning of life.

Abstract

Subjective well-being is a person's perception of his life experience and affection for his life Diener (1984). Based on observations, teenagers who live in orphanages seem to want more attention. Adolescents basically enter a transitional period and need guidance and affection from their parents, but they cannot get this at the orphanage. This is very risky for the emergence of negative emotions which of course will interfere with their subjective well being. So that self-control is needed to reduce negative emotions that might occur to teenagers in the orphanage. Individuals who have good self-control will be able to express their emotions appropriately according to the circumstances they are facing. This study aims to determine the relationship between self-control and subjective well-being in adolescents living in orphanages in Pringsewu Regency. The sample in this study were 60 adolescents according to predetermined criteria, namely those who resided in the orphanage of Putri Tunas Harapan Aisyiyah and Putra Umul Mukmin Aisyah Binti Abubakar in Pringsewu Regency. The data collection method in this study was to use a scale and use the Product Moment correlation technique with the help of the SPSS 20.0 for windows program using Cronbach Alpha. The results of the correlation in this study are that there is a significant positive relationship between self-control and subjective well-being.Keywords: Self-Control, Subjective Well-Being, Adolescents

Abstract

This research explores the relationship between family vulnerability, spirituality, and resilience during the Covid-19 pandemic. With a quantitative approach and cross-sectional study design, samples were taken randomly using a random sampling method, involving 189 husbands/wives willing to participate. Data collection was carried out through interviews (both online and offline) using a modified questionnaire based on the Sunarti (2021) scale to measure family resilience and family vulnerability, as well as Underwood's (2003) DSES (Daily Spiritual Experience Scale) scale to measure spirituality. The research results show that there is a significant negative relationship between family vulnerability and family resilience, while spirituality has a significant positive correlation with family resilience. In addition, family vulnerability and spirituality together contributed 17.2% to the variation in family resilience. These findings contribute to understanding family resilience in the COVID-19 era and indicate the need for further discussion in future research. Keywords: Family resiliency, family vulnerability, spirituality, COVID-19
