Abstract

Many research focus on inventory problem, since inventory has significant effect to financial of a company. This research tries to develop multi items inventory models by considering expire date and unit discount with stochastic demand. Stochatic demand result in possibility of lost sales and backorder, so lost sales and backorder will be considered in the models. The models are solved using simulation and Genetic Algorithm due to complexity of the models. A numerical example and sensitivity analysis are conducted to verify the models. The sensitivity analysis shows that inventory cost and backorder cost have significant effect to ordering time.

Abstract

This research highlighted a methodology to design prototype of portable dining table and chairs for the beach by the integration of Ergonomic, Value Engineering and Kansei Engineering. The case study of the research is on Kuwaru Beach. It has its special features compared to other beach that is an open green space which is filled with pine trees shrimp. The location is become a visitors favorite place in enjoying the beauty of sea and the culinary feature. However sand is exposed to sea breeze could contaminate food. While visitors “lesehan seating” position makes visitors easily get exhausted. This gives an altenative that provides dining facilities to support the outdoor atmosphere with the type rather than “lesehan” based on ergonomic approach and Value Engineering. Research using the concept of Kansei Engineering aims to get the design of portable dining table and chairs which comfortable and practical by developing product based on the imagination consumers. Research result indicated the best performance is obtained by the prototype concept I which have a total cost of Rp 500000.00 and a value based visitors 66.20 × 10-5 and restaurant owner 71.19 × 10 -5.

Abstract

The research discusses the quality control system in producing lamp filament. Meantime, the quality control system produces ahigh level of failure, 10-17%. The result of the identification revealed that the primary coil and double coil processes have the highest failure, ± 17%, and the main cause of rejection is the unflat coil. The research covers the development of attribute control chart (p chart), before and after implementations, development of control plans and documents needed, expert system program to investigate the root cause of the failure, proportional test and final result failure. The result of the implementation of suggestion, gives a significant decrease of failure and the average of failure level of the final product is average 5.74%. Abstract in Bahasa Indonesia : Penelitian ini membahas sistem pengendalian kualitas pada pembuatan lampu filamen. Sistem pengendalian kualitas yang berjalan sekarang menghasilkan kecacatan yang tinggi, 10-17%. Identifikasi yang telah dilakukan menunjukkan bahwa proses primary coil dan double coil memiliki tingkat kecacatan terbesar ± 17% dengan penyebab utama reject adalah coil tidak rata. Penelitian yang dilakukan meliputi pembuatan dan monitoring peta kendali atribut (p chart) baik awal dan akhir hasil implementasi usulan, pembuatan control plan, dokumen-dokumen terhadap pengendalian penyebab kecacatan utama, program expert system yang digunakan untuk penelusuran penyebab kecacatan, uji proporsi dan tingkat kecacatan akhir. Hasil implementasi usulan memberikan penurunan tingkat kecacatan yang signifikan terhadap penyebab kecacatan utama dan rata-rata tingkat kecacatan produk akhir sebesar 5,74%. Kata kunci: sistem pengendalian kualitas, expert system.

Abstract

This paper investigates the relationship between logistics and economic development in Indonesia using time series data on traffic volume and economic growth for the period from 1988 to 2010. Literature reviews were conducted to find the most applicable econometric model. The data of cargo volume that travels through sea, air and rail is used as the logistics index, while GDP is used for the economic index. The time series data was tested using stationarity and co-integration tests. Granger causality tests were employed, and then a proposed logistic model is presented. This study showed that logistics plays an important role in supporting and sustaining economic growth, in a form where the economic growth is the significant demand-pull effect towards logistics. Although the model is developed in the context of Indonesia, the overall statistical analysis can be generalized to other developing economies. Based on the model, this paper presented the importance of sustaining economic development with regards continuously improving the logistics infrastructure.

Abstract

The role of information technology (IT) in improving companies’ competitiveness, including small and medium enterprises (SMEs), has been widely accepted. But, the IT investment will be in vain, if SMEs do not align their business and IT. There is a need to develop a framework of business-IT alignment. The framework development requires an understanding of the patterns of IT implementation in supporting SMEs’ business (e-business initiatives). This paper presents an empirical study on e-business initiatives in Indonesian manufacturing SMEs. The study uses 41 business processes that are grouped into three business focuses: supplier side, internal side and customer side. Based on the complexity of IT support to business processes, supplier side score, internal side score, customer side score and global score can be calculated. These scores are used to develop e-business initiative groups by using cluster analysis. After validated using discriminant analysis, the cluster analysis gives five e-business initiatives. First initiative is e-business implementation in three sides of business focuses, although in the early stage. Second initiative is IT implementation with internal side focus. Third initiative is e-business with customer side focus. The fourth is initiative that focuses on internal and customer side. The last is e-business initiative that balances and extends IT implementation on the three sides of business focuses. Then, this paper explains the differences between e-business initiatives.

Abstract

Accident generally occurs due to the activities which is done in unsafe conditions or even unsafe behavior. These conditions can influence workers productivity. In batik industries, those workers use toxic material and work in non ergonomic atmosphere. Moreover, they also do not take care of the environment and do not use personal protective equipments (PPE). Workers at Madura batik SMEs have not fully realized the significance of occupational health and safety (OHS) in their working areas. The aims of this research is to evaluate OHS performance based on the indicators of safety performance index (SPI), which is multicriteria, in that industri. The safety performance attributes were obtained from factor analysis from the previous study. The index is calculated based on the weighted evaluation results of critical behavior checklist (CBC), integrated with analytical hierarchy process (AHP). As the results, we should give priority to improve the knowledge and experience toward OHS of the workers and also improve the working environment of the Madura’s batik industries. Additionally, the performance of OHS in coloring process is also on the threshold of unsafe condition, further development on the coloring process is needed.

Abstract

Crew scheduling is one of most important operational problems in airline industries. Crew scheduling Problem consists of two steps that is "Crew Pairing" and "Crew Rostering". The research focusses on building Boeing 737-200's monthly pilot rostering of PT. X Airlines based on given pilot pairings. There are some vertical and horizontal regulations must be fulfilled in so that the problem becomes very complex and cannot be solved using a pure exact method in reasonable computational time. Accordingly, we propose a decomposition exact method to solve the problem. Our model was run using LINGO Optimization software. Experiment results showed that our schedules are outperform than the existing schedules of the airline for the case of May 2006. Abstract in Bahasa Indonesia : Penjadwalan kru pada suatu maskapai penerbangan merupakan salah satu permasalahan operasional yang terpenting. Penjadwalan kru terdiri dari dua tahapan yaitu tahap pengelompokkan kru dan penugasan kru. Penelitian ini memfokuskan pada pembuatan jadwal penugasan pilot pesawat Boeing 737-200 pada maskapai penerbangan PT. X Airlines yang ber-home base di Surabaya selama satu bulan, berdasar pada hasil pengelompokkan pilot yang telah ditentukan sebelumnya. Terdapat sejumlah peraturan horizontal dan vertikal yang harus dipenuhi membuatnya menjadi permasalahan kombinatorial yang sangat kompleks, sehingga tidak dapat diselesaikan dengan menggunakan metode eksak murni dalam waktu yang wajar. Untuk itu digunakan metode eksak dekomposisi. Model tersebut diterjemahkan menggunakan perangkat lunak optimisasi LINGO. Hasil eksperimen menunjukkan bahwa jadwal penugasan pilot yang dibuat dengan metode ini lebih baik daripada jadwal milik perusahaan untuk kasus pada bulan Mei 2006. Abstract

The main objective of this paper is to estimate parameters in the heteroskedasticity models, particularly in Auto Regressive Conditional Heteroskedasticity - ARCH(1) and Generalized Autoregressive Conditional Heteroskedasticity- GARCH(1,1). These models will be used to fit, to forecast and to update the volatility of Rupiah Vs US.Dollar rate. In order to get the estimation of fitting and updating parameters of ARCH(1) and GARCH(1,1), here will be used iterative method which is derived from the standard maximum likelihood estimation and the initial values are taken from the result of Yule Walker Estimation. The updating parameters will be estimated by using the approach of ARIMA(p,d,q) updating parameters models. The heteroskedasticity models will give a good fitting even a good forecast in near stasioner condition, however this models can not detect the jump that can be happend due to the changes of political situation that happend in Indonesia. Abstract in Bahasa Indonesia : Tujuan utama dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menentukan nilai estimasi pada parameter-parameter yang terdapat pada model-model heteroskedastik, khususnya dalam Auto Regressive Conditional Heteroskedasticity - ARCH(1) dan Generalized Autoregressive Conditional Heteroskedasticity- GARCH(1,1). Model-model ini akan digunakan untuk menentukan, meramalkan dan memperbaharui nilai parameter dari nilai tukar mata uang Rupiah terhadap Dollar Amerika. Nilai estimasi pada model ARCH(1) dan GARCH(1,1) diperoleh dengan metode iteratif yang diturunkan dari estimasi maksimum likelihood baku dan nilai awalnya didapat dari pendekatan Yule Walker. Penentuan nilai parameter yang diperbaharui akan diestimasi dengan menggunakan pendekatan model ARIMA(p,d,q). Model-model heteroskedastik memberikan nilai pendekatan nilai tukar yang baik bahkan memberikan nilai peramalan yang baik pula, namun demikian model ini belum dapat mendeteksi terjadinya loncatan yang terjadi yang diakibatkan oleh perubahan situasi politik di Indonesia. Abstract

This study attempts to apply Failure Mode Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) to improve the safety of a production system, specifically the production process of an oil company. Since food processing is a worldwide issue and self-management of a food company is more important than relying on government regulations, therefore this study focused on that matter. The initial step of this study is to identify and analyze the criticality of the potential failure modes of the production process. Furthermore, take corrective action to minimize the probability of repeating the same failure mode, followed by a re-analysis of its criticality. The results of corrective actions were compared with those before improvement conditions by testing the significance of the difference using two sample t-test. The final measured result is the Criticality Priority Number (CPN), which refers to the severity category of the failure mode and the probability of occurrence of the same failure mode. The recommended actions proposed by the FMECA significantly reduce the CPN compared with the value before improvement, with increases of 38.46% for the palm olein case study.

Abstract

The competition in industry is getting harder, where companies face changes in their environment. So that organization must increase their performance and show their ability to win the competition. This tight competition makes organization has to own innovation where employees grow according to change. In the effort of improving organization performance, it must be an harmony between organization and individual objectives. This research in the oil company Indonesia aims to harmonize it based on Total Performance Scorecard (TPS). This harmonization is done through several phases with the results of a communication among organizational Balance scorecard, scorecard section and Individual Performance plan. These things become a integrated strategic planning of the company. This integrated plan means in the process of planning, it involves departments, sections, and all employees. The advantages are to make sure all employees understand the objective of their departments and their sections, whereas they involve in the process and the implementation of the strategy. Abstract in Bahasa Indonesia: Untuk menghadapi persaingan, umumnya kalangan industri terus berupaya untuk melakukan perbaikan dan peningkatan kinerja. Dalam upaya peningkatan kinerja organisasi, keselarasan antara tujuan organisasi dengan tujuan setiap individu yang ada dalam organisasi merupakan hal yang penting. Penelitian di sebuah perusahaan minyak dan gas bumi ini bertujuan untuk menyelaraskan tujuan organisasi dengan tujuan individu dengan menggunakan pendekatan Total Performance Scorecard. Pendekatan ini mempunyai kekhasan yaitu menyelaraskan tujuan organisasi dengan tujuan individu yang tergambar dalam hubungan antara Organizational Balanced Scorecard, Scorecard Section dan rencana kinerja individu. Hubungan tersebut dapat menjadi rancangan strategi yang terintegrasi bagi perusahaan, yang dalam perumusannya melibatkan pihak departemen, seksi, serta seluruh karyawan yang berada didalamnya. Hal ini dapat meningkatkan kepastian bahwa para karyawan mengerti dan mendukung tujuan dari departemen dan seksi tempatnya bekerja, dimana mereka ikut terlibat dalam proses pembuatan dan pelaksanaan strategi tersebut. Kata kunci: Total Performance Scorecard (TPS), Organizational Balanced Scorecard (OBSC), Personal Balanced Scorecard (PBSC).
