Abstract

Understanding the object of learning material that is abstract is currently still an obstacle faced by students. The use of technology in learning is expected to reduce the obstacles faced by these students. Augmented reality (AR) is a technology that is currently being widely applied in the learning process because it is considered capable of helping students understand abstract learning materials with 3D object features. This study aims to design and develop AR, especially in the anatomical structure of organs in the human respiratory system, which is then integrated into biological practice in the laboratory. The AR application has been designed, created, validated, and published under AR Synapse (Augmented Reality Respiratory System). The AR application developed is based on the android system and has gone through validation tests by experts. Five expert validators who work as lecturers and high school teachers. Expert validation results with an average score of 3.6 from a maximum score of 4.0, which states that the AR Sinaps application is 91.2%, has functioned well, supports learning, provides objects relevant to teaching materials, and is considered to increase students' learning motivation. Abstract

In Biology learning, technology becomes a tool to facilitate 21st-century learning trends that are digitally oriented, distanced, internet-integrated learning materials, as well as being open and independent. This trend is a challenge because the results of a preliminary study at SMAN 37 Jakarta showed that 42.3% of students experienced a decline in their biology learning outcomes during the distance learning period, especially in the Excretory System chapter. Of these, 61.5% thought the decline was due to low self-regulation. This study aims to develop learning materials in the Excretory System through Moodle to increase students’ self-regulation. The method used is research and development with the Borg and Gall development model using the Moodle platform. The development of learning materials was validated by 5 experts on aspects of the material, learning materials, and language. The result is the scope of the material aspect is 90.4%, the learning material aspect is 90.8%, and the language aspect is 88%, all of which meet the very feasible criteria. The learning materials were tested on 30 respondents and obtained pre-test and post-test scores on self-regulation. The results were tested using the paired sample t-test showed a significance value (p) = 0.001< 0.05. This result illustrated that the use of Excretory System learning materials can increase students’ self-regulation.

Abstract

STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) is an innovative interdisciplinary learning approach that can be integrated with PjBL and PBL learning models. This research investigates the effect of STEAM combined with PjBL and PBL learning models on the cognitive learning results, creative thinking skills and digital literacy of Class X senior high school students at SHS 3 Maluku Tengah and SHS 39 Salahutu. This research was conducted in the even semester of the 2020/2021 academic year. The research instruments included an essay test and digital literacy observation sheets. The research data were analyzed using inferential statistics (ANCOVA and ANOVA). The research results indicate that the integration of STEAM with PjBL and PBL learning models significantly affects students’ cognitive learning results and creative thinking (p<0.05). However, the integration of STEAM and PjBL and PBL learning models does not significantly affect students’ digital literacy (p>0.05). The integration of STEAM with PjBL and PBL learning models provides innovation in implementing the two learning models, which improves the learning steps and the learning process. The integration of STEAM with the PjBL learning model can be used to enhance cognitive learning outcomes and creative thinking skills for other biological concepts in senior high school level learning.

Abstract

Various research states that one of the causes of misconception is textbooks or printed media that are used as learning resources. This is because the textbooks developed are monotonous and tend to present theories in full without practicing skills or stimulating the ability to think and solve problems. The textbooks developed in the research are project-based biotechnology textbooks. This certainly can answer the demands of higher education in the era of industrial revolution 4.0 where learning should be able to empower cognitive, process skills, social skills, system skills, complex problem solving and others. The depth of the material and projects selected for each topic is seen with the results of the analysis of conceptual mastery and misconceptions found. The hope is that this project-based textbook can overcome these problems. The research methodology used is 4-D development research. The 4-D development research method consists of 4 main stages, namely: define, design, develop and disseminate. The subjects of the field trials were biology education students at STKIP Persada Khatulistiwa Sintang. The percentage of validation results for project-based biotechnology textbooks by material experts, media experts, and biotechnology lecturers is 3.75 so that the textbooks have very decent qualifications.
