Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to minimize product defects in the copper production process at PT. XYZ. The Six Sigma method was used with the 5W+1H analysis approach. The data analysis results show that from the Refinery Plant production during May–June 2025, with a total of 1,249,320 units, 1,903 units were defective, or 15%. The main types of defects include Nodular Copper (31%), Thin Cathodes (22%), Moldy Cathodes (11%), Bent Cathodes (10%), and Broken Edge Strips (6%). In conclusion, through the DMAIC process, the causes of defects were analyzed using Pareto diagrams, fishbone diagrams, and RCA. The results showed that human, machine, material, method, and environmental factors contributed to product defects. Recommendations for improvement include operator training, routine machine maintenance, material control, and improving work environment conditions. The implementation of this method is expected to reduce the defect rate, improve product quality, and support the company's competitiveness.   Keywords: DMAIC, Quality, Defective Products, Six Sigma, 5W+1H

Abstract

Abstract: The braking system is a critical component in vehicles, ensuring effective and safe deceleration. Disc brakes, commonly used in automotive applications, generate significant heat during operation, which if not managed properly, can lead to serious problems such as brake fading and component failure. This study reviews various methodologies and findings from previous research on thermal management in disc brakes using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and other experimental methods. Key findings include the effectiveness of improved ventilation designs, the impact of cooling fins, and the role of composite materials in enhancing heat dissipation. The study also examines the influence of geometric design variations and operating conditions on thermal performance. The results highlight that advanced materials like ceramics, cross-ventilated rotors, and active cooling fins significantly improve thermal efficiency and reduce overheating risks. Furthermore, mathematical modeling techniques such as Response Surface Methodology (RSM) and Distance Weighted Least Squares (DWLS) fitting models provide valuable insights for optimizing disc brake systems. The review underscores the importance of comprehensive thermal management strategies to ensure the safety and reliability of braking systems under various operational conditions. Future research should focus on addressing the limitations of current FEA models and developing more efficient materials and rotor designs.   Keywords: Braking System, Thermal Management, Finite Element Analysis

Abstract

Abstract: High employee Turnover rates pose a serious challenge in human resource management, particularly in the competitive banking sector, such as Bank XYZ. One strategy used to retain employees is the implementation of a golden handcuff policy, which provides long-term financial incentives such as low-interest loans. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of this policy in minimizing employee Turnover by considering three key dimensions: financial, social, and business processes. The method used in this study is the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP), which enables systematic decision-making through weighting criteria and sub-criteria. A hierarchical structure was developed with the primary goal of minimizing Turnover, with three main criteria (financial, social, and business processes), nine sub-criteria, and two policy alternatives: maintaining or eliminating the golden handcuff policy. Data were obtained through paired questionnaires administered to HR experts and managers at Bank XYZ. The results of this study are expected to identify the dominant factors influencing employee retention decisions and provide data-driven strategic recommendations to management in designing effective and sustainable retention policies.   Keywords: Decision Making, Employee Turnover, Golden Handcuff, Low Interest Loans, Retention Strategy

Abstract

Abstract: This research aims to develop a scientific-based Physics Student Worksheet (LKPD) on Newton’s Laws to improve the learning motivation and outcomes of Grade X students at MA Mifftahussalam Megang Sakti. The development method employed was the 4D model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate), which consists of defining needs, designing the product, developing through validation and trials, and conducting limited dissemination. The subjects of this study were 17 students of Grade X, while the research instruments included expert validation sheets, learning motivation questionnaires, as well as pretest and posttest items. Validation carried out by material, media, and language experts indicated that the developed LKPD met the “very good” category. Limited and field trials revealed that students’ motivation increased to the “very good” category with an average percentage above 85%. Students’ learning outcomes also improved significantly, as reflected in the average pretest score of 3.41 and posttest score of 7.94, resulting in an N-gain value of 0.68, which falls into the medium category. Group analysis showed that all four groups, each performing three experiments across three meetings, experienced improvement, with Group 3 achieving the highest results in the high N-gain category. These findings suggest that the implementation of the scientific-based LKPD not only facilitates students in mastering Physics concepts more deeply but also encourages activeness, collaboration, and the ability to connect experimental results with theoretical understanding. Therefore, the developed LKPD is considered feasible as an alternative teaching material, capable of enhancing learning motivation and improving student learning outcomes on Newton’s Laws.   Keywords: LKPD, scientific approach, learning motivation, learning outcomes, Newton's Laws

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to measure the science learning outcomes of grade VIII.1 students at Sukamana State Junior High School after implementing the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model. This research method was conducted in three meetings consisting of a pre-test, learning with the CTL model, and a post-test. The results of the pre-test of 33 students showed an average score of 58.8 with a standard deviation of 11.9, with only 3 students achieving a score of 70 or higher. After learning using the CTL model, post-test scores showed a significant increase, with an average of 89, the highest score being 100, and the lowest score being 60. This increase indicates that students have successfully understood the material on vibrations, waves, and sound and are able to relate it to examples in everyday life. Based on the comparison of the pre-test and post-test results, it can be concluded that the implementation of the CTL learning model successfully improved student learning outcomes.   Keywords: Learning Outcomes, Pretest, Posttest, CTL

Abstract

Abstrak: Drosophila sp. is a genus of organisms with a wide distribution pattern. This research aims to determine the relationship between Drosophila species in three areas, namely Batu, Tulungagung and Jombang. The research was carried out from April to June 2020 at three locations in these three regions. The samples in this study were Drosophila caught from 3 areas in the following areas: Batu, Jombang, and Tuluangung. Data was obtained from observing the morphological characteristics of captured Drosophila species originating from these three regions. The similarity analysis obtained is then carried out using a similarity index and displayed in the form of a dendogram. The final analysis displays the taxonomic dendogram findings. The results of the research show that the closest relationship between catches from the Batu area and the Tulungungung area is 0.966, which has an association coefficient value close to 1.00. This shows that there is a close relationship between species originating from the Batu and Jombang areas.   Keywords: Kindness relations, Similarity Index, Dendogram Method

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to conduct a comprehensive review of the development of iron-based thermoelectric materials with an emphasis on crystal structure, electron-phonon transport mechanisms, and efforts to improve power factor and figure of merit (ZT) values. This methods study reviews literatures discussing materials such as FeSi, FeSb₂, Heusler and Half-Heusler alloys, and Fe-based nanocomposites that have significant potential as environmentally friendly thermoelectric materials. The results of the study indicate that iron-based materials have several advantages, including abundant availability, good thermal stability, non-toxicity, and suitability for applications in the medium to high temperature range. In FeSi and FeSb₂ systems, the improvement of thermoelectric performance is strongly influenced by strong electron interactions and phonon scattering mechanisms, which can be optimized through nanostructuring, doping, and energy band engineering techniques. Meanwhile, Fe-based Full-Heusler and Half-Heusler materials show great potential for performance improvement through band engineering approaches, controlling the charge carrier concentration, and reducing the lattice thermal conductivity through phonon scattering strategies. This study also identified several key challenges still faced, such as low energy conversion efficiency, sensitivity to temperature changes, and the complexity of balancing electrical conductivity and phonon scattering processes. Overall, the results of this study confirm that Fe-based thermoelectric materials are promising candidates for supporting sustainable energy development. However, a multidisciplinary materials engineering approach is needed to achieve optimal performance for widespread industrial application.   Keywords: , Iron (Fe) based, Full Heusler, Half Heusler, Figure of Merit (ZT), Thermoelectric material.

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to map the analysis methodologies and the main triggers of technical component failure in the mechanical systems of the manufacturing and aviation industries. The method used is a Systematic Literature Review focusing on analysis parameters from Weibull distribution, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), and Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM). The results of the study indicate that the majority of critical devices, especially hydraulic systems and actuators, have entered the wear-out phase. This is statistically proven through Weibull distribution parameters that are consistently above one (β > 1) with a contrasting priority where aviation prioritizes regulatory safety (MEL) while manufacturing focuses on cost efficiency. In conclusion, determining an accurate Mean Time to Failure (MTTF) is key to maintaining system integrity while reducing operational expenses in both sectors.   Keywords: Component Reliability, Mean Time to Failure, Root Cause Analysis, Systematic Literature Review, Weibull Distribution

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to analyze the feasibility of the grounding system and leakage current in the electrical installation of the Menara Building based on the Indonesian Electrical Installation Standard (PUIL) 2011. The research employed a descriptive quantitative method through direct field measurements using a Kyoritsu 4200 Earth Clamp Tester to measure grounding resistance and a clamp meter to measure leakage current in the distribution panels. The results showed that the grounding resistance value of the transformer grounding system was 11.17 Ω, exceeding the standard limit of ≤ 5 Ω and therefore failing to meet the required standard. Leakage current measurements indicated that several distribution panels were classified as hazardous (>30 mA), particularly those located on the 2nd, 7th, 8th, and 9th floors. In conclusion, the grounding system and several distribution panels in the Menara Building are not yet feasible according to PUIL 2011 standards and require technical improvements to enhance the safety and reliability of the electrical installation system.   Keywords: Electrical Installation; Grounding; Leakage Current; PUIL 2011; Grounding System
