Abstract

To utilize the waste of palm and areca fronds, fiber is used as one of the materials for making composites with a mixture of pulp as the main ingredient. By testing and analyzing the mechanical strength of the material, in order to know the strength of its mechanical properties which can later be potentially applied to cardboard box making materials. Tensile testing was carried out on a composite material mixed with pulp with oil palm and areca nut plant fibers. To carry out the tensile test, a tensile test specimen was made using seven test specimen variables with a composite material of a mixture of pulp with palm midrib and areca nut fibers, with a composition of 30:70, 50:50, and 70:30 in each mixture of each With the addition of one variable specimen of pulp mixed with mixed fiber, namely palm midrib fiber and areca nut with a composition of 30:70. Making specimens using the guidelines on the ASTM 3039M standard. Tensile testing was carried out using a tensile test machine at the Pancasarjana faculty of the University of North Sumatra. The test results were analyzed using the offset method. From the results of the analysis, the highest tensile stress value was found in the specimen, a mixture of pulp and fiber mix composition of 30:70 with a value of 3,058 MPa. The highest fracture strain was found in the mixed pulp specimen with areca nut fiber composition 30:70, with a tensile strain value of 0.0267. The highest yield strength was also found in specimens of mixed pulp with betel nut fiber composition 30:70 with a value of 0.015 MPa. The highest modulus of elasticity was found in the mixed specimen of oil palm midrib fiber at a composition of 30:70 with a value of 1.9107 MPa.

Abstract

The development of composite technology in the industrial world has progressed very rapidly until now. The most important element of composite materials is fiber, which gives the material characteristics such as strength, ductility and other mechanical properties. So far, cardboard and banana trees are only known as waste which is very easy to find in the housing environment. Therefore, research on composites was carried out by utilizing used cardboard and banana trees. The used cardboard then crushed and then mashed into a pulp them combined/mixed using kepok banana tree fiber and mas banana tress fiber which aims to determine the mechanical characteristics of the cardboard paper composite reinforced with materials. As the main adhesive while using PVac glue. The specimen mixture has variations of 30:70, 50:50 and 70:30 with each having 3 variabel in each composition, and the mixture of pulp with mixed kepok and mas fibers has a variation of 50:50 with 3 variabels, all using ASTM standart guidelines, 3039 M. The results of the tensile test of the highest fracture strain value was a mixture of pulp with banana kepok fiber at a composition of 30:70 of 0,0457 MPa, the highest value of yield strength was a mixture of pulp with mixed fiber composition of 50:50 of 1,125 MPa, The highest value of modulus of elasticity is the mixture of pulp and fiber mix 50:50 composition of 1,281 MPa.

Abstract

Utilization of coconut fiber has attracted researchers to determine the mechanical properties of coconut fiber including the value of tensile strength, strain and modulus of elasticity. This study used variables 0 fiber, 5 fiber and 11 coconut fiber then the ratio between the matrix and the catalyst was 10:1 ml. In this study, the material used in the manufacture of composite materials is a type of polyester resin with a catalyst and the reinforcing material is coconut fiber. The composite will be made using the ASTM D 3039M-14 standard with a specimen size of 175 mm x 25 mm x 2 mm. The mold is made of glass and shaped to size using green double-sided foam tape. This tensile testing site was carried out at the Impact and Fracture Research Center, University of North Sumatra. Based on the analysis that has been carried out on the results of the tensile test, it includes looking for the value of tensile stress, yield strength, modulus of elasticity and point of fracture strain. With this test, the highest average tensile stress value is found in variable 5 coconut fiber with a value of 44,076 MPa. While the average value of yield strength is found in the 5 fiber variable with a value of 26,460 MPa, the largest average elastic modulus value is found in the 0 fiber variable of 1360 MPa. In this study, the comparison of the strength of the coconut fiber composite was uneven, this was due to the imperfect shape and process of making the specimen so that the fracture that occurred during the tensile test did not fully occur in the middle of the specimen object.

Abstract

Global warming is expected to result in a more vigorous hydrological cycle, including total rainfall and more frequent high-intensity rainfall events, which affect soil erosion and cause a threat to agricultural land sustainability and productivity, particularly in tropical and subtropical regions. This study aims to determine the effects of climate change on soil erosion in Taiwan. This experiment assesses the risk of soil erosion in Taiwan over 2 – 200 years. To determine the predictor of soil erosion risk, the study used USPED. Result showed there was an increase in sediment yield because of soil erosion. Hence, targeting conservation practices to erosion-prone areas, expanding conservation coverage, and adapting agronomic practices may be necessary to prevent excessive soil erosion under climate change scenarios that include intensified precipitation.

Abstract

The debate between Land Sharing and Land Sparing has been a significant debate in decision-making for several years. In decision-making, there are several things that must be considered, including social, economic, and ecological. However, over time, the increase in food is also increasing. In addition, another important thing is biodiversity which is a limiting factor in maintaining ecology. This article reviews the effectiveness of land-sharing and land-sparing selection from an agricultural point of view.

Abstract

Peanut (Arachhis hypogaea L.) is an important food commodity with high economic value which is cultivated by some farmers in East Sumba Regency, because the climatic conditions are very suitable for the development of this commodity. The purpose of this study was to determine the response of giving fruit liquid organic fertilizer with different doses to the growth and yield of peanuts (Arachis hypogaea L.). This research was carried out in March – June 2021 on a land located in RT 09 / RW 03, Kambajawa Village, Waingapu City District. The design carried out in this study was a Randomized Block Design (RAK) with the application of fruit MOL fertilizer, consisting of 5 treatments: P0 = control, P1 = 25 ml/L water, P2 = 50 ml/L water, P3 = 75 ml/L water and P4 = 100 ml/L water. The parameters observed in this study included plant height, number of leaves, dry weight of the stover, number of seeds, number of pods, and weight of seeds. The results of this study showed that the best dose of liquid organic fertilizer for fruit growth and yield of peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.) was 75 ml/L of water.

Abstract

Technological developments in agriculture are currently very fast with the creation of new innovations that can increase the productivity and quality of agricultural products, one of which is the hydroponic cultivation technique. Hydroponics is a method of growing plants without soil. Vertical hydroponics can optimize production even though the land is narrow. This research examines unused indoor verticulture hydroponic cultivation. Plants consist of mustard greens, pakcoy, lettuce, red spinach and green spinach. By utilizing a 9 m2 room, vertical hydroponic cultivation can be carried out using existing technology. Hydroponic cultivation in a vertical manner can fulfill the nutrition of a family of 2 adults and 1 teenager with the recommendations conveyed by WHO, namely 300-400 grams for adolescents and 400-600 grams for adults. In addition, with limited land, they are able to do farming which can increase income and meet the nutritional needs of the family. This indoor cultivation is better than conventional cultivation with an additional net income of Rp. 244,125 for one month from verticulture hydroponic cultivation by utilizing unused space.

Abstract

Sejumlah klon kentang dibudidayakan di sentra budidaya kentang, Dataran Tinggi Dieng, Provinsi Jawa Tengah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui (1) Nilai Persentase Lokus Polimorfisme (PLP), (2) Nilai Polymorphism Information Content (PIC), dan (3) Jarak genetik aksesi kentang berbasis penanda molekuler mikrosatelit dan Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA (RAPD). DNA genom diisolasi dari daun delapan klon kentang berbeda, kemudian diamplifikasi dengan primer oligonukleotida mikrosatelit (STM 3015, RGH 8, RGH POT 83/8, RGH STIO53) dan RAPD (OPP13, OPNO2). Pola pita DNA diberi skor dengan memberikan angka 1 untuk kemunculan dan 0 untuk ketidakhadiran. Hasil skoring digunakan untuk menyusun pohon filogenetik berdasarkan metode unweighted pair-group method with arithmetic (UPGMA). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan rata-rata PLP 93% dan nilai PIC untuk primer RGH SSR8, StI053, dan OPN02 bersifat informatif. Konstruksi pohon filogenetik menunjukkan dua kelompok utama dalam jarak genetik. Dua cluster utama dikelompokkan menjadi dua subkluster. Subkluster pertama terdiri atas Lapan, Kentang Ungu, Granola Lembang, dan Kentang Merah. Subkluster kedua terdiri atas NH1, MZ, Agria, dan Vega.

Abstract

Tanaman pakcoy merupakan tanaman yang memiliki banyak manfaat dan kegunaan. Namun banyak petani terkendala untuk budidaya secara konvensional karena keterbatasan lahan yang dimiliki. Hidroponik merupakan alternatif budidaya pada lahan sempit dengan pemanfaatan pekarangan rumah. Pemberian nutrisi yang tepat pada hidroponik dapat meningkatkan produktivitas tanaman pakcoy. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengobatan terbaik terhadap berbagai konsentrasi AB Mix dan Pupuk Organik Cair (POC) limbah sayuran pada tanaman pakcoy (Brassica rapa L.). Penelitian ini disusun menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) dengan taraf 1 faktor dengan variasi perlakuan P1 dengan 100% AB Mix, P2 75% AB Mix + 25% POC, P3 50% AB Mix + 50% POC, P4 25% AB Mix + 75% POC, dan P5 100% POC. Analisis data menggunakan ragam (ANOVA) dengan signifikansi 5%, jika dapat dilihat langsung dilanjutkan dengan uji Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT). Perlakuan berbagai konsentrasi nutrisi untuk memberikan pengaruh yang nyata terhadap tanaman dan cuaca basah, namun memberikan pengaruh tidak nyata pada jumlah daun. Pemberian nutrisi 100% AB Mix dan 50% AB Mix + 50% POC memberikan respon terbaik terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman pakcoy (Brassica rapa L.).

Abstract

Peningkatan produksi kedelai dapat dilakukan dengan pemupukan. Pemberian pupuk yang mengandung unsur mikro seperti silika perlu dilakukan pada tanaman kedelai karena  berfungsi mempertebal dinding sel. Pospor  memiliki peran penting dalam  fotosintesis, respirasi, serta mempercepat pembungaan dan pematangann biji. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Kelurahan Lubuk Kupang Kecamatan Lubuklinggau Selatan I, Kota Lubuklinggau Provinsi Sumatera Selatan, dengan ketinggian 103 mdpl pada bulan Juni sampai September 2021. Penelitian secara eksperimen dengan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) 3 ulangan.  Perlakuan pemberian silika dari biochar sekam padi 190 kg ha-1 setara 2 t ha-1 biochar sekam padi (S1),  230 kg ha-1 setara  2,5 t ha-1 biochar sekam padi (S2), dan 270 kg ha-1 setara 3 t ha-1 biochar sekam padi (S3).  Perlakuan pupuk pospat 28 kg P2O5 ha-1 setara 60 kg TSP ha-1 (P1),  37 kg P2O5  ha-1 setara 80 kg TSP ha-1 (P2), dan sebanyak  46 kg P2O5 ha-1 setara 100 kg P2O5 ha-1  (P3), varietas yang digunakan adalah Drap 1 dengan jarak tanam 40 x 40 cm pada tanah Ultisol. Data dianalisis dengan Analisis of Varians dan  ji beda nyata jujur.   Parameter terdiri dari tinggi tanaman, jumlah cabang primer, jumlah polong perbatang, berat 100 biji dan produksi per hektar. Pemberian silika dari biochar sekam padi (S) dan  pupuk pospat (P)  berpengaruh sangat nyata sehingga disimpulkanbahwa pemberian silika dari biochar sekam padi S3 dan P3 menghasilkan pertumbuhan dan produksi tanaman kedelai yang terbaik.
