Abstract

Abstract This study aims to determine the effect of liquid organic fertilizer (POC) made from bamboo shoots on the growth of pakcoy plants. The research was conducted at the Pakkea Experimental Garden, Faculty of Agriculture, Christian University of Indonesia Toraja, from November to January 2025. This study was a single-factor experiment arranged in a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with 5 treatment levels and 3 replications, namely P0 (Control), P1 (350 ml POC + 650 ml water), P2 (400 ml POC + 600 ml water), P3 (450 ml POC + 550 ml water), and P4 (500 ml POC + 500 ml water). Each treatment was repeated 3 times, resulting in 15 experimental plots, with each plot consisting of 5 polybags. Each polybag contained 1 plant, totaling 75 plants. The observed variables included plant height, number of leaves, leaf width, stem diameter, and fresh weight. The results showed that the P4 treatment (500 ml POC + 500 ml water) provided the best results and had a significant effect on all observed variables, including plant height (24.37 cm), number of leaves 16.77 leaves, leaf width (12.48 cm), stem diameter 11.80 mm, and the highest fresh weight (224.30 g).

Abstract

Raam Island, located in the Sorong Islands District, is a coastal area with quite high natural resource potential, but faces various challenges in developing the agricultural sector. This study aims to analyze the agricultural cultivation system implemented by the community in the coastal areas of Raam Island, with a focus on the physical condition of the land, existing cultivation practices, constraints faced by farmers, and opportunities for development based on local technology and innovation. The methods used include field observation, interviews with farmers, SWOT analysis and related literature studies. The results of the study showed that 53.3% of the people of Raam Island did not understand the techniques of cultivating crops on sandy land, 30.0% understood and 16.7% were unsure. The mentoring program for cultivating crops on sandy land for the people of Raam Island is still low, namely 83% agreed that mentoring is necessary, and the remaining 17% were still unsure. The cultivation system applied is still simple with a mixed cropping pattern using plants that are relatively tolerant to marginal land conditions such as cassava (Manihot esculenta), sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas), Gedi (Abelmoschus manihot), areca nut (Areca catechu) and banana (Musa parasisiaca). The crop cultivation system is still a yard system. Limited fresh water, high salinity, and low soil fertility are the main obstacles in agricultural cultivation in this region. On the other hand, the existence of biodiversity and local knowledge are potentials that can be optimized. The results of the SWOT analysis show an IFAS score of 3, and an EFAS score of 3.25, which is included in the high category for the development and management of agrotourism-based land resources on Raam Island

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the effect of organic fertilizer from chicken waste compost mixed with roasted husks and runny water on the quality of the fertilizer and the growth of green mustard greens (Brassica juncea). The method used was a randomized block design (RAK) with treatments consisting of K0 = Control, K1 = 10 Tons/Ha (50 gr/polybag), K2 = 20 Tons/Ha (100 gr/polybag), K3 = 30 Tons/Ha (150 gr/polybag), and K4 = 40 Tons/Ha (200 gr/polybag). Each treatment consisted of 75 plants divided into 5 plots, with each plot containing 15 plants. The research results showed that compost fertilizer with a concentration of 100 gr/polybag provided the best effectiveness in increasing the growth of mustard greens, as seen from plant height (33.63), number of leaves (11.67), and plant weight (157.67), compared to other treatments. This research also provides solutions for managing livestock waste and supporting sustainable agriculture. Using compost is safer than chemical fertilizer, can maintain moisture in plant roots, and does not damage the environment.

Abstract

Aplikasi fungisida Antracol dalam praktik budidaya pertanian berpotensi menimbulkan konsekuensi yang mengkhawatirkan bagi keseimbangan ekosistem aquatik, terutama terhadap biota perairan. Studi ini dirancang untuk mengevaluasi dampak variasi dosis Antracol terhadap tingkat survivabilitas ikan nila (Oreochromis niloticus) serta karakteristik parameter lingkungan perairan. Metodologi penelitian mengimplementasikan desain Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan mengaplikasikan 5 variasi tingkat konsentrasi (0,01; 0,1; 1; 10; 100 ppm) ditambah kelompok kontrol, dimana setiap perlakuan direplikasi sebanyak 2 kali. Temuan penelitian mengindikasikan terjadinya degradasi yang signifikan pada persentase kelangsungan hidup berbanding lurus dengan eskalasi konsentrasi Antracol, dengan persentase kematian puncak mencapai 85% pada aplikasi konsentrasi 100 ppm. Karakteristik parameter kualitas perairan mengalami transformasi yang substantial, meliputi reduksi kandungan oksigen terlarut hingga mencapai level 1,5 mg/L, variabilitas nilai pH dalam rentang 7,49-8,18, serta elevasi temperatur yang mencapai 30,5°C. Evaluasi statistik mengungkapkan adanya hubungan korelasi positif yang sangat kuat (r > 0,95) antara tingkat konsentrasi Antracol dengan persentase mortalitas, menunjukkan pola respon yang bersifat eksponensial. Hasil investigasi ini mengkonfirmasi bahwa Antracol memiliki potensi toksisitas yang substantial terhadap ikan nila bahkan ketika diaplikasikan dalam konsentrasi yang relatif rendah, sehingga menekankan urgensi implementasi sistem manajemen yang lebih rigorous dalam penggunaan fungisida di kawasan pertanian yang berdekatan dengan habitat perairan.

Abstract

Research entitled "Development Strategy of Sumatera Elephant Education Center (Elephas Maximus Sumatranus) Tourism Object Aek Nauli for the Development of Simalungun Regency" has been conducted with the aim of knowing the existing condition of the Sumatera elephant education center Aek Nauli tourism object and to analyze the existing condition and determine the development strategy of the Sumateran elephant education center tourism object related to the development of Simalungun Regency. The research method was carried out using the opinion method of 48 respondents of visitors and managers of the Sumatera elephant education center tourism object. The existing condition of the management of the Sumatera elephant education center tourist attraction has strong internal strengths in terms of strategic location, unique tourism, elephant health that is always prime and a very neat tourism experience, has low weak internal weaknesses especially in terms of the absence of a legal basis for the application of entrance fees that are expected to support management, has high external opportunities in terms of broader and permanent cooperation between parties, the possibility of developing tourist attractions with existing natural potential that has not been managed and becoming an educational medium to increase public awareness to maintain the sustainability of animals and the environment, and has low external threats in the form of the influence of the presence of toll roads, disturbances from the surrounding community and unfriendly attitudes, all of which can be overcome easily by socialitation. Referring to the existing condition of the Sumatera elephant education center tourist attraction, the coordinates are at point (0,82 ; 0,83) in quadrant I, the S-O (Strength-Opportunity) strategy will be implemented based on the strengths of the management to improve weaknesses by utilizing opportunities as optimally as possible to anticipate existing threats where the current management condition of the Sumatera elephant education center tourist attraction has strengths and development opportunities with the hope of maximizing the strengths and utilizing existing opportunities. So, the strategy that must be implemented in future development is to support an aggressive growth policy (growth-oriented strategy).

Abstract

Riset pendugaan carbon yang tertimbun pada batang tanaman dan serasah ini dilakukan pada tegakan 3 jenis klon IND di 3 kelas umur tanaman yang dibudidayakan di areal HTI Habinsaran. Dilakukan pengukuran diameter, tinggi dan perangkap serasah yang jatuh dari 3 jenis klon IND pada 3 kelas umur untuk memperoleh data dalam penaksiran data karbon pada batang tanaman dan serasah. Pengolahan data dilakukan atas penaksiran karbon batang dari data volume kaykanu dan berat jenis kayu dan faktor karbon dalam tanaman. Sedangkan penentuan karbon dari serasah dilakukan dengan mengoven serasah terlebih dahulu untuk mendapatkan biomassa yang dikalikan dengan faktor karbon pada tumbuhan. Hasil pengolahan data menunjukkan diameter batang klon IND 72 menurut umur 1,2 dan 3 tahun adalah 29 cm, 44 cm dan 49 cm, untuk klon IND 73 berurutan 27 cm, 43 cm dan 57 cm serta untuk klon IND 111 berurutan 21 cm, 44 cm dan 59 cm. Tinggi batang tanaman klon IND 73 dari umur 1, 2 dan 3 tahun berurutan 9,18 m, 11,36 m dan 19,43 m serta klon IND 111 berurutan 6,90 m, 11,03 m dan 22,67 m. Volume kayu klon IND 73 umur 1, 2 dan 3 tahun berurutan 0,5922 m3, 1,7532 m3 dan 3,6628 m3; volume kayu klon IND 83 umur 1, 2 dan 3 tahun berurutan 0,4908 m3, 1,5526 m3 dan 5,8489 m3 serta umur 1, 2 dan 3 tahun klon IND 111 berurutan 0,2313 m3, 1,6768 m3 dan 6,1939 m3. Hasil analisis kandungan Carbon batang tanaman klon IND 73 umur 1, 2 dan 3 tahun berurutan 0,5922 kg/btg, 1,7532 kg/btg, 3,6628 kg/btg, klon IND 83 berurutan 0,4908 kg/btg, 1,5526 kg/btg, 5,8489 kg/btg serta klon IND 111 berurutan 0,2313 kg/btg, 1,6768 kg/btg dan 6,1939 kg/btg. Kandungan carbon serasah untuk klon 73 umur 3 tahun klon IND 73 sebesar 0,004 kg/btg (4 gr/btg), klon IND 83 sebesar 0,005 kg/btg (5 gr/btg) dan klon IND 111 sebesar 0,005 kg/btg (5 gr/btg).

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of using Lactic Acid Bacteria (LAB) isolates on the fermentation process of mucuna-based compost. The parameters observed included temperature, pH, color, aroma, and texture for 27 days of fermentation. The results showed that LAB treatment had a significant effect on the acceleration and quality of fermentation results. The temperature increased faster and remained within the optimal range of microbial activity (22–55°C). The pH value decreased in the early fermentation phase due to the production of organic acids, then returned to being stable approaching neutral at the end of fermentation. The color change towards blackish brown occurred faster in the LAB treatment, indicating earlier compost maturity than the control. The odorless aroma appeared earlier (day 9) in the LAB treatment compared to the control (day 12), and the texture became smoother faster. Overall, the use of LAB isolates was proven to accelerate the decomposition process of mucuna organic materials, increase microorganism activity, and produce compost with better quality than without LAB treatment.

Abstract

The management of green space on the Victory Sorong campus actually still has great potential to be improved because there are still many empty areas that have not been used. Regarding planting, students can express their opinions about the current condition of the campus environment and provide input on the types of plants they want. The purpose of this study was to determine students' perceptions and preferences regarding the types of plants that are expected to be planted in the Victory Sorong University campus area. This study was conducted from January to February 2025 at Victory Sorong University with a sample of 296 respondents from 6 Faculties. Data collection was carried out by distributing questionnaires using Google Form and interviews. Data analysis was carried out descriptively qualitatively. The results of the study showed that students of Victory University Sorong showed various perceptions about the condition of the campus environment related to the adequacy of green space, the importance of the existence of plants, the desired location for planting, and the willingness to be involved in campus greening activities. Meanwhile, the plant preferences mentioned by respondents can be grouped into shade plants, flowering plants and ornamental leaf plants, as well as fruit and medicinal plants. This shows that students not only prioritize aesthetic factors that provide visual beauty but also want shade, coolness, results that can be directly enjoyed from fruits and their benefits as TOGA so that balance can be created throughout the campus area

Abstract

The Nature Tourism Park (TWA) area has the potential for abundant and diverse flora and fauna, one of the types found in the area is palm. Palm is one of the components that make up forest vegetation in TWA Sorong which also has a very important role. This study aims to find out the types of palms (arecaceae) and their diversity index in TWA Sorong. The research was carried out using the exploratory survey method in the Sorong Nature Tourism Park with 4 transect paths with an area of 1 Ha. The results of the study showed the discovery of 17 types of palms consisting of 15 types of palms and 2 types of rattan. In addition, the level of palm species diversity (H') is classified as moderate with an H' value of 1.526 (1< H'< 3) and a species evenness with a value of E = 0.398 so it is included in the medium category.
