Abstract

Poverty is defined as a state in which individuals or groups of people are unable to exercise their basic rights to lead a dignified life. One of the cities in Indonesia is Serang City, located in the province of Banten. Currently, the poverty rate in Serang City has reached as high as 46 thousand households, with 8,799 of them falling into the category of extreme poverty. Based on the data obtained, the poverty line in 2022 is higher than the poverty line in the period 2020-2021. This poverty is due to several main factors, including low education, low income, and a lack of job opportunities. Therefore, this research aims to understand the causes and effects of poverty in Serang City and how to address it. To model the poverty alleviation efforts in Serang City, researchers use the Causal Loop Diagram (CLD) method. Causal Loop Diagram (CLD) is a visual tool used to model and analyze the cause-and-effect relationships between various factors in a system. The data processing results reveal the causes and effects of poverty in Serang City, including unemployment, low education levels, increased mortality rates, crime, limited job opportunities, and restricted healthcare services.

Abstract

PT FGH is a state-owned company that annually holds an Employee Award to appreciate and motivate the company's workers or employees. Currently, the company is still carrying out the process of selecting the best employees through analysis and manual calculations in the form of average values of the criteria set by the company, which causes this process to take a long time. There is no weighting of criteria and methods or application of a decision support system in selecting the best employees. This research aims to conduct a decision-making system by applying a ranking method that can simplify calculations in determining the best employees by considering factors and relationships between criteria. The method used is the Analytic Network Process method with the help of Super Decision Software. The results of this research from five alternative employees based on four criteria, namely personal aspect, community aspect, organizational aspect, and management aspect, obtained the best employee, namely employee 1, with an ideal weight value of 1.

Abstract

PT. A is one of the companies engaged in assembly production, where the parts received from supplier are small component parts from subassemblt that will be sent to lines 1 and 2 tobe assembled into four-wheeled vehicle cabin chassis products in the production department. The biggest challenge at PT. A high level of product defect from production results in each department, especially in the Production Department (Trimming Assembly Line 2) for type X. This is of course will have an impact on the company, as additional time is needed to repair damage that occurs in the assembly line process and affects the non-achievement of production targets until the late release of production units. PT. A requires improvement efforts by finding the cause of defects in the product and reduce variations in the cause. Based on the result of the SQC method analysis, there are two potential causes that fall into the category of 80% of the cumulative percentage, which is the components with a percentage of 57% and loose components (loose) amounting to 24% of the total production. The problem aspects that have been analyzed focus on several areas including methods, materials, machines, and manpower

Abstract

In the face of fierce global competition, construction industry companies such as PT XYZ require efficient production machinery to increase productivity. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of batching plant machines at PT XYZ using the Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) method and identify improvements through Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). The batching plant machine often experiences downtime, especially on line five, which hampers production performance. The OEE method was used to measure three main aspects: availability, performance, and quality, with an average OEE result of 91.34%, which indicates good performance but still below the company's internal standards. Fishbone diagram analysis identified the main causal factors of downtime, while AHP was used to prioritize improvements. The AHP results showed that developing a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) was the best strategy to reduce downtime, with a weight of 39.8% and consistency of 2%. This research suggests the implementation of SOPs to improve machine effectiveness and maintain optimal productivity at PT XYZ.

Abstract

The distribution of sulfuric acid raw materials is still conducted conventionally and faces challenges regarding the quantity of supply for each product. Therefore, this research was conducted to help create a mathematical model for the distribution of sulfuric acid using the Goal Programming method with the assistance of LINGO 18.0 software. Goal Programming serves to minimize deviations from limits and targets based on priorities in order to maximize profit and achieve the optimal quantity of sulfuric acid in the distribution of sulfuric acid raw materials, as well as to supply several fertilizers containing sulfuric acid. The research results indicate that the annual sales revenue target of 982,937,304 USD was achieved without any deviations. Most of the optimal production targets for products X1 to X8 were also met, with deviation variables showing no shortfall in production quantities for these products. However, for product X2, there remains a production shortfall of 60,096.15 tons to reach the target of 405,823 tons.

Abstract

Maximizing productivity and quality of products produced by a company is very necessary, an approach that can optimize the use of human resources and production equipment. An approach that has proven to be very good at reducing waste is Lean Manufacturing. In this research, the method used to minimize waste at PT. SPLN is Value Stream Mapping (VSM) and Value Stream Analysis Tools (VALSAT). VSM is used to view the condition map of each workstation in the company. Waste reduction is carried out using one of the tools from VALSAT, namely process activity mapping (PAM). After the improvements were made, there was a significant change in the number of cable trays produced, increasing from 138 units to 172 units. Number of Necessary but Not Value Added (NNVA) found in PT's production process. SPLN is 70.54% followed by Non Value Added (NVA) with a total of 29.04% and value added (VA) of 0.03%. The proposed improvement is to reduce the amount of time for NNVA and NVA activities or eliminate them.

Abstract

Queueing issues at an ice cream parlor in Serang City have led to long lines due to having only one service system. The queue problem arises when many customers request service, but the number of servers is limited. One issue is that customers often have to wait in line to be served by the cashier. The aim of this study is to develop strategies to reduce queue length and improve service efficiency. The method used is Discrete Event Simulation, which provides a reliable and measurable approach to model queue variations. This system allows for identifying the best solutions to reduce waiting time and increase service efficiency in the ice cream parlor industry. This study shows that with 30 data replications and using seconds as the time unit, the total queue waiting time is 7,215 seconds with an average of 510.59 seconds. The average waiting number in the queue is 2.2371. The result of 0.95 indicates that resource utilization is close to maximum (close to 1), meaning the resource is almost always in use.

Abstract

Many people choose bottled drinking water because it has been processed and meets drinking water quality standards so it is safe for consumption. Based on data from the Indonesian Bottled Drinking Water Companies Association, in 2014, Indonesians consumed 23.1 billion liters of bottled drinking water, an increase of 11.3 percent compared to 2013 which was only 20.48 billion liters One of the reasons the product does not sell in the market is the weakness of production management, especially the lack of precision in the production process. Constraints that can cause defects in the blowing process include mismatched air pressure or oven settings, which can result in defects such as unmelted bottoms, tilted bottle necks, white bottoms, torn or burst bottles, or bottle shapes that are not as expected. PT. TBK is one of the companies that produces bottled drinking water in 600 ml bottles. Efforts that can be made by the company are to improve product quality through quality control. Six Sigma is a method used for continuous process improvement and enhancement. Research at PT. TBK aims to identify the main factors of product failure during production and analyze the sigma level of 600 ml bottle defects. From the results of the DPMO calculation converted to the Sigma value, a value of 0.79 was obtained with an average DPMO of 1337.39. This means that the 600 ml bottle blowing process produced is above average or has reached the standard.

Abstract

PT XYZ is a company specializing in the bottled tea beverage industry. The company is experiencing quality control challenges, evidenced by a defect rate of 0.9%, which exceeds the target of 0.2%. This study aims to identify the reasons for the high defect rate in tea production and provide recommendations for improvement. Utilizing the Six Sigma approach along with the DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control) methodology can help maintain product quality by identifying the sources of defects in tea products at PT XYZ. The research identified three main types of defects: insufficient volume, lack of crown, and non-standard temperature. The most prevalent defect was non-standard temperature, accounting for 7,968 defective items (60%). The causes of these defects include human factors such as operator negligence and lack of precision, material factors such as low tea temperature and decreased bottle temperature, method factors like improper and inaccurate inspection methods in the Quality Control Division, machine factors such as low caustic temperature in the washer machine, and environmental factors like high room temperature. Recommended improvements include conducting regular training sessions for operators to enhance their understanding of their work areas, especially in monitoring the production process. Additionally, thorough quality checks should be performed in line with the steps outlined in the work instructions. To reduce defects and errors in packaging machines, regular maintenance is essential to ensure their smooth operation.
