<![CDATA[Human trafficking is human exploitation, and it contradicts the biblical message which encourages equal and harmonious relationships between humans. Therefore, efforts needed for prevention. This study aimed to expose the criminal network of trafficking in persons specifically from Southwest Sumba Regency where Malaysia is a destination country. Data analysis based on Holland and Henriot model of the pastoral circle. The method used was descriptive qualitative. Data were obtained through observation, interviews, and literature studies, which were analyzed in depth. The result was that an effective pastoral action to prevent human trafficking is based on a deep understanding of trafficking in persons with adequate theological reflection.]]>

<![CDATA[Abstract. The emergency situation due to the Covid-19 pandemic has forced Catholics to worship by attending online mass. Although it is seen as a quick and responsive solution for the Church, many have questioned the efficacy or usefulness of online mass as a means and sign of God's salvation for His people. This paper provides an explanation of the efficacy of online mass as a sacrament of salvation by using the text Mark 5:25-34 about a haemorrhaging woman suffering who received miracles of healing after touching the garment of Jesus. This study was conducted by Narrative Criticism with the Exegetical Symbol Analysis approach. The analogy of the miracle of healing obtained by touching the robe of Jesus provides an understanding that the efficacy of online mass as a sacrament of salvation continues to work even though it is not experienced directly or in distance.Abstrak. Kondisi darurat akibat pandemi Covid-19 memaksa umat Katolik beribadah dengan mengikuti misa secara online. Walaupun dipandang sebagai solusi cepat dan tanggap Gereja, banyak yang mempertanyakan efikasi atau daya guna misa online sebagai sarana dan tanda keselamatan Tuhan bagi umat-Nya. Tulisan ini memberi penjelasan tentang efikasi misa online sebagai sakramen keselamatan dengan menggunakan teks Markus 5:25-34 tentang perempuan penderita pendarahan yang memeroleh mukjizat penyembuhan setelah menyentuh jubah Yesus. Metode yang digunakan adalah Kritik Naratif dengan pendekatan Eksegese Analisis Simbol. Analogi mukjizat penyembuhan yang diperoleh hanya dengan menjamah jubah Yesus memberikan pemahaman bahwa efikasi misa online sebagai sakramen keselamatan tetap bekerja walaupun tidak dialami secara langsung alias berjarak.]]>

<![CDATA[Abstract. This article offers a medium for Christian Education that was born from the traditions and customs that exist in the life of Christian families in Maluku. The Christian Education Media is the tradition tampa garam, which is a tradition of conversation at the food table in the culture of the Maluku people. This tradition has been adopted by Christian families in Maluku as a medium for conveying Christian values to children. Through a qualitative approach and literature study, it could be concluded that the tampa garam tradition contains values that are in harmony with Christian teachings such as love, peace, harmony, and reconciliation.Abstrak. Artikel ini menawarkan salah satu media Pendidikan Kristen yang lahir dari tradisi-tradisi dan kebiasaan-kebiasaan yang ada dalam kehidupan keluarga Kristen di Maluku. Media Pendidikan Kristen yang dimaksud adalah tradisi tampa garam, yang merupakan tradisi percakapan di meja makan dalam kebudayaan masyarakat Maluku. Tradisi ini telah diadopsi oleh keluarga-keluarga Kristen di Maluku sebagai media penyampaian nilai-nilai Kekristenan kepada anak-anak. Melalui pendekatan kualitatif dan studi kepustakaan dapat disimpulkan bahwa tradisi tampa garam mengandung nilai-nilai yang selaras dengan ajaran-ajaran Kristiani seperti kasih, kedamaian, keharmonisan, dan rekonsiliasi.]]>

<![CDATA[Abstract. Pentecostal churches are known to put more emphasis on the spiritual aspect of their teaching than on the social aspect. The social activities carried out are also more widely understood as a means to win souls. This paper aimed to recollect the awareness of the Pentecostal spirit that cannot be separated from social solidarity. The method used in this study was an interpretive descriptive method on Acts 2:41-47. Through this study, it could be concluded that social solidarity is not a strategy to win souls, but is an inherent essence of a congregation filled with the Holy Spirit.Gereja-gereja aliran Pentakosta dikenal lebih banyak memberikan penekanan pada aspek rohani dalam pengajarannya dibandingkan terhadap aspek sosial. Kegiatan sosial yang dilakukan juga lebih banyak dipahami sebagai sarana untuk memenangkan jiwa. Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk mengingatkan kesadaran akan roh Pentakosta yang tidak dapat dilepaskan dari solidaritas sosial. Metode yang digunakan dalam kajian ini adalah metode deskriptif interpretatif terhadap teks Kisah Para Rasul 2:41-47. Melalui kajian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa solidaritas sosial bukanlah suatu strategi untuk memenangkan jiwa, namun adalah hakikat yang sifatnya inheren dalam diri jemaat yang dipenuhi oleh Roh Kudus.]]>

<![CDATA[Abstract. Jesus’ baptism does not only refer to His divine role, but moreover to His divine identity. This is a theological declaration that He is God. However, Marcus J. Borg asserted that Jesus’ baptism was Jesus’ deep spiritual awareness toward spiritual world and the presence of God’s Spirit in His life. This does not indicate His divinity at all. Based on these two contradictory views, a problem remains to be solved: Is Borg’s assumption correct? What is actually Jesus’ true intention in His baptism? This was the focus of the research. This writing exerted to describe particularly Borg’s view on Jesus’ baptism, analyzed and responded to his view according to evangelical perspective. Despite the fact that Borg’s view on Jesus’ baptism has widely garnered support from modern theological readers, his theology is still far from orthodox theology because it was too socio-anthropological based analysis and ignored the Bible as God’s revelation.Abstrak. Baptisan Tuhan Yesus bukan hanya merujuk kepada fungsi jabatan-Nya, tapi lebih daripada itu, yaitu kepada identitas ilahi-Nya. Ini merupakan sebuah deklarasi teologis bahwa Ia adalah Allah. Tetapi Marcus J. Borg menyatakan bahwa baptisan Yesus sebagai sebuah kesadaran spiritual Yesus yang mendalam akan dunia roh dan kehadiran Roh Allah dalam hidup-Nya. Hal ini sama sekali tidak mengindikasikan keilahian-Nya. Mengaitkan kedua pandangan yang bertolakbelakang ini, muncul permasalahan: benarkah asumsi Borg di atas? Apakah sebenarnya yang menjadi intensi Yesus dalam peristiwa baptisan tersebut? Inilah yang menjadi fokus penelitian penulis. Tulisan ini berusaha untuk memaparkan secara khusus pandangan Borg dalam peristiwa baptisan Yesus dan menganalisis serta menanggapi pandangannya menurut perspektif injili. Terlepas dari pandangan Borg yang digemari di kalangan pembaca teologi modern tentang baptisan Yesus, pemikirannya masih jauh dari teologi ortodoks oleh karena terlalu berpijak pada analisis secara sosio-antropologis dan mengabaikan Alkitab sebagai wahyu dari Allah.]]>

<![CDATA[Abstract. By not explicitly prohibiting slavery has created the impression that the Bible does accept slavery. This paper intended to examine the biblical texts that raise the idea of slavery. Its main focus was texts in the Old Testament. These texts would be examined by considering the ancient Middle Eastern cultural setting. This paper would also bring together the pro and anti-slavery texts in a tensional relationship. This way distinguishes this writing from other writings which tend to take only one position, either pro or anti-slavery. The idea of seeing texts in a tensional relationship implies a postmodern thinking. The benefit of this paper is to build awareness that slavery is a practice that needs to be opposed but at the same time difficult to abolish. Therefore, a struggle against slavery still needs to be launched even though slavery has been formally and legally abolished.Abstrak. Dengan tidak tegasnya larangan terhadap perbudakan dalam Alkitab telah menimbulkan pemahaman bahwa Alkitab memang menerima perbudakan. Tulisan ini bermaksud memeriksa teks-teks Alkitab yang mengangkat gagasan perbudakan. Fokus utamanya adalah teks-teks dalam Perjanjian Lama. Teks-teks tersebut akan diperiksa dengan mempertimbangkan latar budaya Timur Tengah Kuno. Kemudian beberapa teks yang sering digunakan untuk mendukung dan menetang perbudakan akan dipahami kembali dalam sebuah ketegangan. Pilihan ini sekaligus membedakan tulisan ini dengan tulisan-tulisan lain yang cenderung mengambil salah satu posisi saja, entah pro atau anti perbudakan. Gagasan untuk melihat teks-teks dalam sebuah ketegangan ini secara implisit menyiratkan pemikiran posmodern. Manfaat tulisan ini adalah untuk membangun kesadaran bahwa perbudakan merupakan praktek yang perlu ditentang namun sekaligus sulit dihapuskan.]]>

<![CDATA[Magic is a significant theme in The Acts of the Apostle but is undermined by scholars. The significance of this theme is obvious in the so-called five episodes or passage of magic. Thus, how does Christian understand of magic particularly in the Acts of the Apostles is also prominent. This article aimed to re-examine all five episodes of magic in The Acts of the Apostles that Christian may have a more comprehensive understanding of magic and able to conquer the reality of magic which is still very relevant in our contemporary ministry in Indonesia. The method of this article was literature study. By the study it was concluded that the magic in Acts is best understood to further its apologetical purpose, because the passages clearly demonstrate evil as the reality behind magic, thus the confrontation between God’s power and magic is inevitable for it is between God and evil.]]>

The involvement of the church in social life outside the church is something that continues to struggle from time to time; the church, on the one hand, felt compelled to be involved in all aspects of life; on the other, it felt sufficient to focus on the spiritual dimension of life. Meanwhile, participation in the social domain is often articulated with religious mission activities that wish to win souls and increase the number of church members. This article aimed to present a theological reflection framework on hospitality in a Pentecostal perspective, as a spirituality that drives the participatory philosophy of Pentecostals in the public sphere, both socially and politically. The method used is descriptive analysis, with a literature study approach. The result is that the hospitality attitude of the early church in the Acts constructs a Pentecostal reflection of the participation of Pentecostals in the public sphere.Abstrak. Keterlibatan gereja dalam kehidupan sosial di luar gereja merupakan hal yang terus mengalami pergumulan dari waktu ke waktu; gereja di satu sisi merasa harus terlibat dalam seluruh aspek kehidupan, di sisi lain merasa cukup untuk memfokuskan pada dimensi kehidupan rohani. Sementara itu, partisipasi pada domain sosial tidak jarang diartikulasikan dengan kegiatan misi gerejawi yang ingin memenangkan jiwa dan menambahkan jumlah anggota gereja. Artikel ini bertujuan menyajikan sebuah kerangka refleksi teologis tentang hospitalitas dalam perspektif Pentakostal, sebagai spirtualitas yang menggerakkan sikap partisipatif kaum Pentakostal pada ruang publik, baik secara sosial dan politik. Metode yang digunakan adalah analisis deskriptif, dengan pendekatan studi literatur. Hasilnya, sikap hospitalitas jemaat mula-mula pada narasi Kisah Para Rasul mengonstruksi sebuah perenungan Pentakostal mengenai partisipasi kaum Pentakostal pada ruang publik.]]>

<![CDATA[Abstract. This article aimed to study urban missiology praxis which was highlighted from the church's role as gospel deliverer point of view. This topic was conducted by a literature study approach. The results of the study revealed that urban mission services could run effectively if they paid attention to all the complexities of problems that occured in urban areas. Social problems such as unemployment, poverty, crime, injustice, hunger, environmental damage, and other social problems must be the main consideration in missions. Mission to urban communities means that the church, has a positive impact to the urban communities.Abstrak. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji praksis misiologi perkotaan yang disorot dari sudut peran gereja sebagai pembawa dan pemberita Injil. Untuk mengkaji topik ini penulis menggunakan pendekatan studi pustaka. Hasil kajian mengungkapkan bahwa pelayanan misi perkotaan dapat berjalan dengan efektif apabila memperhatikan segala kompleksitas permasalahan yang terjadi di perkotaan. Masalah-masalah sosial seperti, pengangguran, kemiskinan, kejahatan, ketidakadilan, kelaparan, kerusakan lingkungan, serta masalah-masalah sosial lainnya yang terjadi di perkotaan harus menjadi pertimbangan utama dalam misi di perkotaan. <![CDATA[Abstract. Society 5.0 is the concept of a new life order that focuses on humans and based on digital technology to support human work. Meanwhile, the Church has the task to carry out the Great Commission of Christ according to Matthew 28:18-20. The problem is how to implement the Great Commission of Christ in this 5.0 society era. The method used in this study is grammatical and lexical study of Matthew 28:18-20. Through this study, it could be concluded that the actualization of the Great Commission of Christ requires new innovations, from previously on-site-based missions to digital missions. Missionaries are required to have capabulity in mission activities innovation through digital technology.Abstrak. Masyarakat 5.0 adalah konsep tatanan kehidupanbaru yang berfokus pada manusia dan berbasiskan teknologi digitaluntuk mendukung pekerjaan manusia.Sedangkan Gereja memiliki tugas untuk melaksanakan Amanat Agung Kristus berdasarkan Matius 28:18-20.Problemnya adalah bagaimanakah implementasi Amanat Agung Kristus di era masyarakat 5.0 ini. Metode yang digunakan dalam kaijian ini adalah studi gramatikal dan leksikal Matius 28:18-20. Melalui kajian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa aktualisasi Amanat Agung Kristus menuntut inovasi baru, dari sebelumnya misi berbasis on site menuju digital mision.Misionaris dituntut untuk memiliki kemampuan berinovasi dalam aktivitas misi melalui teknologi digital.]]>
