Abstract

This research examines the Fatwa of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) issued in 1982, which allows the disbursement of zakat funds for productive activities and general welfare, viewed through the lens of Sharia Economic Law. The study aims to analyze the fatwa's alignment with Sharia principles, its implementation challenges, and its socio-economic impacts. Employing a qualitative approach with a literature review design, the research analyzes the fatwa text, relevant literature, and related legal and economic frameworks. The findings reveal that the fatwa aligns with the principles of maslahah (public interest) in Sharia, promoting economic empowerment and social justice through productive zakat utilization. However, the implementation faces challenges, including varying interpretations of productive activities, potential misuse of funds, and limitations in institutional capacity. The study highlights the positive impacts of productive zakat on community welfare, including increased income, job creation, improved access to education and healthcare, and infrastructure development. Recommendations include strengthening zakat management, developing community-based economic empowerment programs, clarifying regulations, enhancing public understanding, and conducting continuous evaluations to optimize the effectiveness of zakat in achieving social and economic development goals in accordance with Sharia principles.

Abstract

Indonesia has a vast zakat potential, thanks to its world's largest Muslim population. However, zakat collection remains low, including in the Greater Malang area. Low levels of literacy and trust in zakat management institutions are among the main causes of suboptimal zakat collection. This study aims to analyze in more depth how levels of trust and zakat literacy influence the intention of payers to distribute zakat through Zakat Management Organizations (OPZ), considering the role of attitude as a mediating variable. Furthermore, this study seeks to provide empirical understanding of the relationship between psychological factors and religious behavior in the context of zakat compliance. This study used a quantitative approach through a survey of 400 muzakki respondents in Malang Raya, and the data were analyzed using Partial Least Square-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS 4.1.1.4. The results showed that zakat trust and literacy significantly influenced muzakki attitudes, and attitudes were proven to mediate the relationship with muzakki intentions. These findings emphasize the important role of zakat institutions in building public trust and increasing literacy so that zakat management is more optimal and has a broad impact on community welfare.

Abstract

Cognitive development is a crucial aspect of early childhood growth and development that needs to be stimulated from an early age. One effective way to optimize cognitive development is through literacy activities. Literacy encompasses not only the ability to read and write but also involves understanding symbols, language, and the meaning of everyday experiences. This study aims to describe efforts that can be made to improve the cognitive development of early childhood through literacy activities within the family environment and educational institutions. The method used was a literature review, reviewing various literature related to early childhood education and literacy. The results of the study indicate that literacy activities such as reading stories, providing play-based literacy reading corners, and directed digital literacy can stimulate children's thinking, language, and problem-solving skills. Therefore, collaboration between teachers and parents is crucial in creating a conducive and sustainable literacy environment.

Abstract

Learning to read, write, and count (calistung) in early childhood is still a matter of debate because on the one hand it is considered important for readiness to enter Elementary School (SD), while on the other hand it is feared that it can reduce children's opportunities to play as the main learning tool. This study aims to determine parents' perceptions of learning to read, write, and count in the cognitive development of early childhood in Kober Karima. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with 15 parents selected purposively. Data were obtained through interviews, observation, and documentation, then analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing steps, and tested for validity through technical triangulation. The results of the study showed that the majority of parents (66.7%) perceived that reading, writing, and arithmetic were very important and a measure of a child's readiness to enter elementary school, while others (20%) considered it important but needed to be balanced with other developmental aspects, and only a few (13.3%) rejected early academic orientation. These findings indicate the dominance of parents' academic perceptions that impact learning practices in schools, where teachers strive to balance parental demands with the principles of play-based early childhood education. In conclusion, parental perceptions greatly influence the direction of early childhood learning, and intensive communication between teachers and parents is needed to strengthen understanding of the importance of holistic child development. It is recommended that early childhood education institutions provide socialization and learning innovations that can integrate reading, writing, and arithmetic through play activities so that children's developmental needs and parents' expectations can be aligned.

Abstract

Balanced nutrition in early childhood is a fundamental aspect of health and optimal development. The utilization of local food sources, particularly tubers, offers significant potential due to their diverse nutritional content, accessibility, and economic value. The introduction of processed tuber-based foods in non-formal educational settings, such as Kober Karima Pamarican Ciamis, is considered a strategic effort to instill healthy eating habits from an early age while fostering appreciation for local food resources. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through interviews with five children, three teachers, and five parents. The findings revealed that 92% of respondents supported the introduction of tuber-based food, while 8% expressed ambivalent views. Children were most attracted to the taste, color, and appearance of the food; teachers emphasized menu variety and educational value; and parents highlighted health benefits and cost efficiency, although some indicated the need for practical guidance in preparation and portioning. Overall, processed tuber-based foods demonstrate significant potential as a medium for nutrition education rooted in local resources. Successful implementation depends on creative food processing, the role of teachers as facilitators, and the active involvement of parents. Integrating such programs into early childhood education curricula may serve as a preventive measure to promote healthy eating patterns and support children’s optimal growth and development.

Abstract

This study aims to critically analyze the sources of hadith within the Shia tradition, focusing on major hadith collections such as al-Kafi and Man La Yahduruhu al-Faqih. The methodology of hadith evaluation in the Shia tradition is examined in depth and compared with the Sunni tradition of source criticism. This research employs a qualitative approach using content analysis methods applied to primary and secondary literature related to Shia hadith collections. The findings reveal significant differences in the methodology of hadith criticism between Shia and Sunni traditions, particularly regarding the concepts of ‘adalah (narrator’s integrity), isnad (chain of transmission), and the authority of narration. The Shia tradition places special emphasis on narrations from Ahl al-Bayt and the doctrine of the infallibility of the Imams, which distinguishes it from the Sunni perspective. The study concludes that, despite fundamental methodological differences, both traditions demonstrate scholarly rigor in ensuring the authenticity of hadith as a source of Islamic law, albeit through distinct epistemological approaches.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the development of hadith criticism among Western scholars by highlighting its challenges and opportunities for contemporary Islamic studies. This research discusses how early Western scholars such as Ignaz Goldziher and Joseph Schacht viewed hadith not as divine revelation but as a socio-political construction that emerged after the Prophet’s era, thus casting doubt on its authenticity and authority. This study employs a qualitative method with a library research approach. The primary sources consist of Western scholars’ works on hadith and the responses of contemporary Muslim scholars to them. The analysis is conducted using a descriptive-analytical method, describing the views of the Orientalists and analyzing their implications for modern hadith studies. Although Western hadith criticism raises doubts about the sources of Islamic law, it also provides significant opportunities for the development of contemporary hadith studies. Such criticism encourages Muslim scholars to strengthen classical methodologies with modern scientific approaches and opens space for cross-traditional academic dialogue. Through the integration of classical isnād criticism methods and modern historical approaches—as undertaken by contemporary Muslim scholars such as Jonathan A.C. Brown and Muhammad Mustafa al-A‘zami—hadith studies can now develop in a more comprehensive, objective, and contextual manner. Therefore, Western hadith criticism is not only a challenge to Islamic authority but also a means of reflection and methodological reinforcement in global hadith scholarship.

Abstract

Globalization has brought significant changes in various aspects of life, including religious understanding and practice. This study discusses the position and role of Hadith in facing the challenges and opportunities arising from the current of globalization. Through a qualitative approach with literature analysis, this research identifies that the context of Hadith in the globalization era is related to two aspects: the development of Hadith studies from time to time up to the current development through digital technology and social media, and its application in facing the era of globalization. The results of the study indicate that to deal with these challenges and opportunities, the critical study approach to understanding Hadith through the utilization of technology must refer wisely and prudently to the methodological concepts formulated by previous scholars (ulama terdahulu) in order to support the strengthening of Hadith's authenticity. Furthermore, Hadith, with the development of its studies and applications exemplified by the ulama mutaqaddimin (earlier scholars) and muta'akhkhirīn (later scholars), remains always relevant to the progress of the times.

Abstract

The dynamic shifts within the contemporary educational landscape necessitate that pesantren (Islamic boarding schools) adopt a more focused and professional approach to Human Resource Management (HRM). This challenge must be met without sacrificing the fundamental values that constitute the institution’s unique identity and core characteristic. In this context, the values of khidmah (selfless service/devotion) and tahfizhul Qur’an (Qur'an memorization) remain strong cultural and spiritual foundations, directly shaping the character, work ethic, and loyalty of the teachers and administrative staff within the pesantren. This article aims to thoroughly examine how the integration of these two fundamental values, khidmah and tahfizhul Qur’an, can be realized and operationalized into a cohesive and comprehensive model of pesantren Human Resource Management. The study focuses on proposing a value-driven framework that balances spiritual principles with professional administrative governance.

Abstract

This study aims to synthesize empirical and conceptual evidence from the latest literature on conflict management patterns applied by Integrated Islamic School (SIT) principals in managing Generation Z teachers and analyze its relationship with improving teacher performance. This study analyzes education regulations, national journal articles, and related textbooks using a systematic literature review method. The findings reveal that a comprehensive analysis identifies and maps four dominant patterns of conflict management: (1) the Collaborative-Digital pattern, which combines deliberation with digital platforms, (2) Accommodative-Spiritual Pattern emphasizing value-based mentoring approaches, (3) Transformative-Generational Pattern utilizing conflict as a catalyst for organizational cultural change, and (4) Preventive-Cultural Pattern focusing on building a harmonious school system and climate. These four patterns consistently integrate fundamental Islamic values such as deliberation (consultation), wisdom (hikmah), brotherhood (ukhuwwah), and reconciliation (ishlah) with psychological approaches that are adaptive to the unique characteristics of Generation Z, such as a preference for digital communication, a need for autonomy, and expectations of work-life balance. Data synthesis shows a significant positive correlation between the application of these patterns and improvements in various performance indicators of Generation Z teachers, particularly in the aspects of digital pedagogical innovation, organizational commitment, job satisfaction, and teaching productivity. This study recommends three main directions: (1) Development and validation of the “Islamic Intergenerational Conflict Management Framework (IICMF)” model, (2) Capacity building for school principals through integrative digital and multigenerational leadership training, and (3) Formulation of supporting policies that facilitate inclusive and transformative human resource management in Islamic educational institutions. The implications of this research include theoretical contributions to enriching the literature on Islamic educational leadership and practical contributions in the form of operational guidelines for stakeholders.
