Abstract

Penja is an endemic fish in the Mandar river and is one of the small pelagic fish species that has been used by fishermen in Polewali Mandar for a long time. Penja fish is one of the water organisms that utilize plankton as its food. This study aims to determine the composition of the plankton species the fishing season in Mandar waters of Polewali Mandar Regency, West Sulawesi Province. This research was conducted in November-December 2017. The sampling location was conducted in two different water locations which are at estuary and body of Mandar River, Polewali Mandar Regency, West Sulawesi Province. And the identification of samples was done at the Biology Laboratory of Plankton and Natural Feed at the Research Center for Brackishwater Aquaculture Development and Fisheries Extension (BRPBAP3) of Maros Regency. The results of this study indicate that the highest abundance of plankton during the fishing season in the estuary waters and the month of December. Bacillariophyceae class is the most plankton class found during the study and there is 37 genus plankton consisting of 28 genus of phytoplankton and 9 genus of zooplankton. The range of diversity index value during fishing time, sampling location, research month and sampling time are 1 <H '<3 which means medium diversity, uniformity index value is 0.7-0.9 so that the plankton uniformity index is relatively the same or equal, and the Domination index value indicates that no domain genus in the community.

Abstract

The potential of fisheries resources in Indonesia is 9,931 million tons per year, with the highest potential being in WPP 718 of 1,992 million tons / year (20%), in WPP of 1,228 million / year (12%) and in WPP 711 of 1,143 million tons / year (12%). Bigeye Tuna (Thunnus obesus) is one of the leading commodities from the fisheries sub-sector which is commonly consumed both locally and export. Cilacap Ocean Fishery Port (PPS), Cilacap Regency, is one of the Bigeye Tuna (Thunnus obesus) fish landings caught from the Indian Ocean. This study aims to find out information on the long-term weight ties of Bigeye Tuna (Thunnus obesus) captured from the Indian Ocean and landed at PPS Cilacap, Central Java. According to Cilacap PPS (2014), Bigeye Tuna (Thunnus obesus) fish is one of the large pelagic fish species with the most catches after skipjack fish from all landed fish. The results of the analysis of the relationship between weight weights show that the growth pattern of big eye tuna (Thunnus obesus) is allometric negative (b <3). In fisheries biology, this long-weight relationship of fish is one of the information that needs to be known in terms of fisheries resource management.

Abstract

Abstract

Garbage in coastal areas is one of the complex problems faced by an area that is close to the coast or the coast which has several rivers that empty into the sea. Marine debris, especially inorganic (undergradable) waste, is the main enemy, whose numbers do not decrease over time and its existence tends to be neglected. The impact caused by this type of waste can threaten the survival and sustainability of biota in the waters. The purpose of this study was to determine the amount, type, mass, and density of inorganic marine debris in the waters of Lae-Lae Island, Makassar City. This research was conducted in May-June 2019 on Lae-Lae Island. The garbage collection method is carried out at 3 stations, where Station 1 is in the North, Station 2 is in the West and Station 3 is in the South of Lae-Lae Island. In a transect that is stretched along the coastline and then divided into 3 plots at each station with a size of 50 m x 20 m. Then, collect every type of trash found on the plot. The results showed that the straw type soft plastic waste was mostly found in each research station. The total mass of waste obtained on Lae-Lae Island is 65.64 kg/0.003 km2 and the average density of waste on Lae-Lae Island according to the number of pieces is 1.82 items/m2 and for the average density by weight is 21, 87 g/m2.

Abstract

Bycatch tuna is an important commercial fish commodity in the Indian Ocean tuna fishery. Tuna bycatch fishing activity also has an impact on the decline in stocks, making it vulnerable and potentially unsustainable. This study aims to analyze the level of vulnerability of tuna side-caught fish, which was conducted in Sendangbiru Malang in July 2013. Vulnerability analysis using the Euclidean distance approach with productivity and susceptability data using PSA software. The catch of bycacth tuna is skipjack tuna (Katsuwonus pelamis), lemadang fish (Coryphaena hippurus), baby tuna (Thunnus albacores). The results of the vulnerability analysis showed that the level of vulnerability obtained was 1.66 for baby tuna, 1.27 for lemadang and 1.42 for skipjack. Overall, the vulnerability index value is still low from 1.8 where the stock is classified as low susceptibility and the potential for tuna bycatch is still potentially sustainable and does not lead to overfishing.
