Abstract

Abstract This study aimed to obtain an character base-innovative teaching module on teaching atomic structure and periodical table of element contain character base education. This type of research is a research and development modified from Borg-Gall methods. The 20 teachers chemistry of X grade class of SMA (senior high school) used as samples  or responden to analysing chemistry textbook produced by two publisher using BSNP (National Education Standards Agency) instrument standard. The results show that both of textbook contain atomic structure and periodical table of element have good quality but it possible to developed to get an innovative teaching module which revise in subject matter sequences and teaching strategy. The innovative teaching module received had been fully BSNP standard, quite valid,  feasible and does not need to be revised. From trial using quasy experiment methods show that student outcomes  thought using innovative teaching module (average 88.5) higher than control class (average 80.75). Abstract

Abstract. The Research is about using cooperative learning model of Student Facilitator and Explaining (SFAE) type which has been done to know improvement student’s achievement on the topic of colloid at XIIPA classes of SMA Saint Marie Pekanbaru in the second semester of academic year 2012/2013. This research is experimental research based on pretest-posttest design. The sample consisted of two classes, XI IPA2 class as experiment group and XI IPA3 class as control group that randomly selected after testing homogeneity. Cooperative learning model of Student Facilitator and Explaining (SFAE) type is applied in XI IPA2. Analysis of data used t-test. Results of data processing obtained tcount > ttable (2,28 > 1,67). It means that using cooperative learning model of Student Facilitator and Explaining (SFAE) type can improve student’s achievement on the topic of colloid at XI IPA classes of SMA Saint Marie Pekanbaru. The improvement of student’s achievement in experiment class was supported by N-Gain score as many as 0,78 that included in high category. Keyword : Cooperative Learning of Student Facilitator and Explaining, Student’s Achievement, Colloid

Abstract

Abstrak. Penelitian ini dilakukan bertujuan untuk mengetahui angka peroksida dan asam lemak bebas (FFA = free fatty acid) minyak goreng curah dan kemasan merek A, B, dan C yang dipakai masyarakat menggoreng secara berulang menggunakan metode titrasi alkalimetri dan iodometri. Populasi penelitian adalah minyak goreng curah dan kemasan dan sampel diambil secara  acak 2 kg minyak curah,dan 2 kg masing-masing minyak kemasan merek A, B, dan C yang dijual di pasar tradisional di Medan. Metode penelitian menggunakan titrasi alkalimetri dan iodometri. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan cara membandingkan angka peroksida dan FFA minyak goreng yang dipakai menggoreng secara berulang (minyak jelanta) terhadap minyak goreng control (sebelum digunakan menggoreng) dan standar mutu minyak goreng SNI 01-3741-2013. Dari analisis data diperoleh hasil sebagai berikut: Angka peroksida sebelum dipakai menggoreng (mek O2/kg); minyak curah: 2,718; minyak kemasan merek A: 2,039; merek B: 2,039; merek C: 2,039; setelah penggorengan I - IV (150-200oC): minyak curah: 6,796; 9,588; 13,659; 17,669: merek-A: 4,757; 8,835; 10,873; 14,951; merek-B: 5,437; 8,834; 11,553; 14,951; merek-C:  4,757; 8,155; 12,912; 15,696. Angka FFA sebelum dipakai menggoreng (mg KOH/gr): minyak curah: 0,0686; minyak kemasan merek A: 0,0480; merek B: 0,0480; merek C: 0,0412; setelah penggorengan I-IV: minyak curah: 0,3981; 0,5215; 0,7007; 1,1262; minyak kemasan merek-A:  0,3294; 0,4187; 0,6451; 0,9540; merek-B: 0,3562; 0,4392; 0,6931; 0,8853; merek-C: 0,3232; 0,3843; 0,6958; 0,8586. Ambang batas standar mutu minyak goreng yang layak dipakai menurutSNI 01-3741-2013: angka peroksida 10 mek O2/kg; FFA. 0,6 mg KOH/g. Dari  analisis data dapat disimpulkan bahwa: Minyak goreng curah dan kemasan merek A, B, C yang dijual di pasartradisional di Medan memenuhi standar kualitas SNI 01-3741-2013 sebelum digunakan untuk menggoreng, dan bila digunakan maka hanya dua kali layak dipakai untuk menggoreng bahan pangan. Disarankan kepada masyarakat khususnya di kota Medan agar pemakaian minyak goreng curah dan kemasan merek A, B, dan C yang dijual di pasar tradisional di Medan cukup hanya dua kali dipakai untuk menggoreng bahan pangan demi menjaga kesehatan masyarakat  yang menggunakannya. Abstract

The implementation and development of teaching materials purposed to find the topic based on the criteria of National Education Standard Agency (BSNP). The student learning outcomes increase in thermochemistry topic based on the modules contextual. The population in this study were all students of class XI MIA SMAN 2 Percut Sei Tuan consists of 4 classes, while the students of each class were ± 35 people. The sample used in this study consists of two classes randomly selected. The first class as the experimental which given learning module as a contextual-based teaching materials, however the control class was given without it. The instrument used assessment BSNP that shared to 1 teacher and 2 lecturers. The test used multiple-choice with 20 questions that were valid and reliable. As a prerequisite for testing, the hypothesis of learning outcomes both groups of samples were tested for homogeneity using programs Microsoft Excel. The results of the study showed that teaching materials met BSNP criteria that content = 4.16; language = 4.14; presentation = 4.04; Integrity = 4.18 by lecturer. Furthermore, the data achieved of content = 4.32; language = 4.21; presentation = 4.20; integraty= 4.13 by teacher. There are valid criteria and no need revision. The tests performed two sample groups were homogeneous. Hypothesis testing is done by using Paired Sample T-Test with SPSS 21. The hypothesis test concludes that the chemical learning outcomes of students uses teaching materials contextual-based module is higher than the student learning outcome without it in the thermochemistry module.Keywords:contextual; module teaching materials; outcomes learning

Abstract

The use of modules has an effect on students’ motivation and students’ learning outcomes. Based on the analysis of learning outcomes data using paired sample t-test SPSS 21 shows that tcount (4.872)> ttable (2.354) at significance α = 0.05, which means that there are differences in students’ learning outcomes taught using chemistry practicum e-modules and practicum modules conventional. Students’ learning outcomes by utilizing the chemistry practicum e-modules are higher than students’ learning outcomes by utilizing conventional practicum modules. 93.24% of students have very strong motivation to study in the laboratory by utilizing the chemistry practicum e-module while by utilizing conventional practicum modules by 72.98%. Meanwhile, the Pearson Correlation test is 0.613 at significance α = 0.05, which means that there is a strong relationship between learning motivation and student learning outcomes. Abstract

Abstract. This study aims to determine the number of microorganisms in the landfill Terjun Medan and to determine its relationship with acute respiratory infections in the surrounding community. The results showed that at the center of TPAS (0 meter) the number of air microorganisms was 2322 cfu/m3. The farther from the center point the amount of air microorganisms declined with 94.4 % correlation rate. A safe distance was ≥ 750 meters, because the microorganism population was below the air quality standards established (<700 cfu/m3). Analysis of the incidence of acute respiratory infections in the community around landfill Terjun Medan indicated that the higher the population of air microorganisms the higher acute respiratory infections event with  correlation value of 85.7 %. Identification of air microorganisms showed that the air around the landfill Terjun Medan contained acute respiratory infections causing microbes consisting of Streptococcus, Staphylococcus, Klebsiella, Corynebacterium, Aspergillus and Candida. Abstract

study aims to determine the effectiveness of online learning using Microsoft Teams 365. The entire population in this study was used as a research sample, namely all students of the Chemistry Education study program, Indonesian Christian University, Jakarta. Perception data was collected using a questionnaire with dimensions of understanding the material, appearance and accessibility of Microsoft Teams 365. From the results of data processing, it was found that more than 50% of students' perceptions of Microsoft Teams 365 were good in all indicators of understanding the material and appearance. On the use dimension with connectivity and accessibility indicators more than 50% of students' perceptions of the Microsoft 365 team are good, but on the quota-saving indicator 42% of students do not agree. Abstract

Abstract Obesity is one of unresolved health problem in Indonesia. Based on the data of Indonesian health profile in 2011, the prevalence of nutritional status of adult population (>18years) in Aceh of overweight was 10,9% and obesity 13,14%. Obesity is a risk factor for development of varous deseases such as diabetes mellitus, hypertension ad heart disease, this occurs because of the role molecules that exist in adipose tissue Tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) is cytokine that tended to increase in patients with obesity and blood sugar levels. Physical exercise (gymnastic healty heart) is one of activity that can effect of TNF-α levels and blood sugar level in people with obesity. This study is aimed at understanding the impact of physical exercise (gymnastic healty heart) on lowering TNF-α levels and fasting blood sugar of obesity.The research design is quasy experimental with observational pre-post test design. The obese people aged 18-21 years was 25 samples. The sample are given physical exercise (gymnastic healty heart) for 4 weeks.. The data is analyzed by using univariate and bivariate and tested by using T-test dependent and correlation person. Based on the result of this study, it was found that physical exercise did not significant on TNF-α (p=0,11), but physical exercise is significant on fasting blood sugar level (p=0,03). There was no correlation between TNF-α level and fasting blood sugar level before and after Physical exercise is done ( p=0,059 and p=0,192).Keywords : Physical exercise, TNF-α level, fasting blood sugar level and obesity

Abstract

There are a lot of tofu industries in Indonesia from small to large industries. The industrial activity produces waste. The content of organic substance in the liquid waste potentially pollute the environment, so waste treatment is needed before discharge into the environment. This study aims to determine the ability of water hyacinth to reduce the content of  BOD, COD, odor, color and increasing pH of the tofu that produce in these factory. This research was conducted at the tofu’s factory Medan Ayahanda street and water hyacinth are taken around the river Deli Medan Maimon. BTKL (Balai Teknik Kesehatan Lingkungan) and Analis Department Health Polytecnic Medan are where analysis is done from January to August 2017. The method used to measure its value is BOD with DO Meter, COD with open Reflow method using COD Reactor tool, pH with pH meter, odor and color in a physical way. Based on the research results, water hyacinth proved effective can be used to reduce BOD and COD levels color, odor and raise pH on tofu liquid waste twith the same number of samples. Growing number of  water hyacinth in the tofu liquid waste, it will be more effective to lower levels of BOD, COD , smell, color and raising pH.Key words: waste water tofu, water hyacinth, absorption

Abstract

Abstract. Control of male fertility is one of the  goverment efforts to reduce the number of population. Several researches have been done to make a male contraceptive, one of them is using herb to effect male reproductive system. Aloe vera (Aloe vera L.) has been widely cultivated by the people and used as materials for food and drugs. One of the benefits of this plant is it’s potential antifertility. For this research aims to test the antifertility potential of ethanol extract in Aloe vera (Aloe vera L.) leaf. in male mice (Mus musculus L.) DDW (Double Ditch Webster) strain. This is an  experimental research with complete randomization. Extract administered orally once a day for four weeks to of 24 male mice which divided into four groups: control group (0.5 ml/kgBW Aqudest), treatment group dosage 5mg/kgBW, 10mg/kgBW, 15mg/kgBW extract. We observed the expression of active caspase-3 microscopically through immunohistochemical appearance, quantity (number of spermatozoa) and quality (viability of sperm, sperm morphology and motility). The results were statistically analyzed using one-way ANOVA followed by multiple comparison (post hoc - Bonferroni test). The results showed between ethanol extract of Aloe vera leaf with the first dosage (5mg/kgBW), second dosage (10mg/kgBW) and the third dosage (15mg/kgBW) a significant reduction of the quantity and quality of spermatozoa (p <0.05). on the other hand activity of caspase 3 expression active has increased significantly (p<0.05) in spermatogonial cells of seminiferous tubules during the administration of ethanol extract of Aloe vera (Aloe vera L.) leaf. This shows an increase in the incidence of apoptosis during spermatogenesis. From these results it can be concluded that the ethanol extract of Aloe vera leaf has potency to be an antifertility drug that can later be developed for the manufacture of male contraception. Keywords: aloe vera extract, caspase-3, spermatozoa, quantity, quality
