Abstract

Abstract. Mung beans (Phaseolus radiates) are a kind of legume which green  round and oval. Mung beans contain substances that are required for the formation of blood cells so as to overcome the effects of decrease Hb. Mung beans can function on formation red blood cells contain substances that are needed by the body for the maturation and formation of blood cells and prevent anemia because phytochemical substances on mung beans very complete so it can help the process of hematopoiesis. The purpose of the research is to explore effect of mung beans to increase Hb of rats (Rattus norvegicus). This research used 27 male white rats species Rattus norvegicus strain wistar. Male white rats were divided into 3 groups, 1 control group and 2 treatment groups. Control group was given aqua ad libitum for 7 days, Treatment group was given mung beans with gradual dose of 18 and 36 gr/kgBB/day. The result of data analysis with Kruskal Wallis test showed a P value 0,003 (p < 0,05), thus obtained significant differences in mean Hb levels after given mung beans. The result showed that giving mung beans affect the increase in Hb concentration white male rats. Keywords : Hb, mung beans, rats

Abstract

The laboratory is a place to train students' skills in conducting demonstration, experimental and scientific development practices. The provision of complete laboratory tools and materials and good laboratory management will make learning chemistry run optimally, but some high schools still do not meet the standards of facilities and infrastructure in the laboratory. Therefore, the researcher tries to collect the problems and constraints in the implementation of the practicum and find alternative solutions to the problem solving based on literature review and expert opinion. This research is a qualitative study which is a case study research in several high schools in Medan. The instruments in this study were student questionnaire, teacher questionnaire, principal questionnaire and observation sheet using Likert scale analyzed using the percentage formula. the results of the analysis of case studies conducted in a number of high schools in Medan, it can be concluded that, the area of chemistry laboratories in several schools in Medan meets BSNP standards, but there are still science laboratories used for chemical laboratories. The results of the analysis of equipment and materials that support the implementation of the practicum after the presentation of X1 schools 76.36%, X2 schools 65.67% and X3 schools 87.27%. Abstract

Abstract. This study aims to determine how the image of young women knowledge about diet based on blood type in SMA Kemala Bhayangkari 1 . Given the many teenagers now are unknowingly living with unhealthy patterns . This is evidenced by the mortality of young is high enough . Most of the cause is of the food consumed . Influence on the blood type diet is great because they can affect the digestive system , decreasing the body 's metabolism and diseases such as kanker. This is a descriptive study , using primary data obtained via questionnaires . The population in this study were all young women m in classes 2  IPA in SMA Kemala Bayangkari I Medan . The results showed that the level of knowledge of adolescents are in the category of pretty but there is still much less knowledgeable ( 26.67 % ). Resources based on respondents who get information from health workers are still there as much less knowledgeable ( 28.12 % ) . Based on the mother's education is the higher education are much less knowledgeable (15.38 %). Based on the work of teenage mothers found that mothers work are less knowledgeable as much (46.15 %). Based on a healthy lifestyle are much less knowledgeable (38.46 %). It can be concluded that the source of information , mother's education , mother's occupation and lifestyle can affect young women knowledge about diet based on blood type . Abstract

Research on paper made from coconut and tofu waste has been carried out using the alkalization method of separation technique, with the optimum composition as follows: NaOH concentration used is 3.0% and cooking temperature is 100 0C and the time required is 90 minutes. The results of the catheterization test of paper made from coconut dregs and tofu have a water content of 3.2%; pH 6.9, pulp content 65.75%; cellulose content 80.22%; lignin content 18.27%. The results of the FT-IR spectrum analysis of coconut pulp and tofu pulp are suitable for use as raw materials for making paper because they contain cellulose fibers. This is indicated by the appearance of the O-H hydroxyl group which is observed at a wavenumber of 3312 cm-1. Based on the SEM results, the surface morphology of the coconut pulp and tofu combination paper shows that the surface structure is the denser the fiber bonds, the smaller the fiber diameter, the better the mechanical properties. The results of the research conclusions explain that, paper made from coconut and tofu waste has met the requirements set by SNI 14-0444-1989.Keywords: Paper, Cellulose, Coconut pulp, Tofu pulp, Lignin

Abstract

Abstract. This research aims to study the uptake capacity and binding energy in ion biosorption of manganese(II) by biomass S. cerevisiae immobilized on silica gel and zeolite mixture. As for the method is performed by varying the initial concentration of manganese(II) in solution were contacted with biomass S. cerevisiae immobilized on silica gel and zeolite. To determine the concentration of manganese(II) in the solution used visible spectrophotometric method, using complexing formaldoksim. amount of manganese ions(II) adsorbed by the immobilized biomass was determined by calculating the difference between the concentration of manganese(II) contained in the solution before and after contacted. The results showed that the absorption of manganese(II) increased linearly as a function of concentration up to 50 mg/L, sorption capacity calculations obtained using Langmuir isotherm equation was 10.989 mg/g or 2,0 x 10-4 mol/g dry weight biomass S. cerevisiae immobilized. Binding energy value between biomass S. cerevisiae immobilized with manganese ions (II) is 30.69 kJ/mol. Abstract

Abstract:       Many first semester students in University struggle to study chemistry, it proven by low achievement of students in learning general chemistry. This study investigated student’s difficulties to understand in term of chemistry material characteristics (fundamental concept, advanced concept, mathematical concept and misconception) and learning process in the class. This investigation includes a coginitve test and a difficulty questionnaire were given to 92 first semester students in Biology program Universitas Islam Riau-Indonesia who took general chemistry course. Research questions in this study were: 1) What topics did students find difficult?; 2) Which chemistry material indicators did students feel difficult?; 3) How did student’s perceptions about learning chemistry before and after learning process in college?. The result gave information that student’s difficulties mostly existed in average level in chemical bonding about 84 students, stoichiometry around 52 students and higher level of barrier in colligative properties topics reached 52 students. Furthermore, students felt higher difficult in three indicators in term of mathematical concept, advanced concept and misconception with number reached 46%, 65% and 61% respectively. Difficulty questionnaire showed the slightly dropping around 9% before and after learning process. Overall, the difficulties encountered in average level and higher level. Topic that sudents felt difficult were: chemical bonding, stoichiometry and colligative properties, which each topic contained higher skill such as advanced concept, mathematical skill and misconception. The minor dip in student’s perception can give us information about quality changes after learning process.Keywords:basic chemistry; learning difficulties indicator; student’s difficulties; students’s perception

Abstract

Practicum is an important element in chemistry. In chemistry learning with practical methods students are given the opportunity to be creative, find, or prove a phenomenon that he experienced and the concepts his learned. Therefore, it is important to develop the learning method using practicum to accommodate the progress and needs of the times so that learning is close to students so that learning becomes meaningful. In this research, the development of digital integrated chemistry practicum modules based on simple practice is carried out. The research sample consisted of 248 students and 26 chemistry teachers, and was validated by 3 expert judges. In the initial stage, the module developed is validated by expert judges. The validation results show that the module is categorized as valid in terms of content eligibility, language feasibility, and presentment eligibility with an average score of 3.81 (scale 4). In the final stage, a module testing is conducted for chemistry students and teachers in the form of collecting responses. Chemistry teacher response results indicate that the module is feasible to be used as a source of student learning on chemistry practicum class XI high school even semester with an average score of 3.78 (scale 4). The results of the students' responses showed that the module was appropriate for them to use as a source of learning on chemistry practicum with an average score of 3.79 (scale 4). The results of student responses on the presentment eligibility aspect showed the highest value of 3.98 (scale 4), the module developed was presented digitally integrated which can be accessed online.Keywords: Chemistry; e-module; practicum; simple-practice

Abstract

Abstract. The development paradigm of the potential of human resources resulted in demands in all areas, not just the quality of human resources, but human character itself. Learning innovations incorporated into textbooks is expected to improve the quality of education and develop the character of the nation's generation. This research aims to develop an innovative high school chemistry textbook/MA XI for second half class based on the 2013 curriculum standards that are used to create a creative learning, effective, and fun, and help learners gain optimal learning results. The population is all high schools in North Sumatra. The sample in this study were taken by purposive sampling, namely SMA Hang Tuah Belawan, SMAN 9 Medan and SMAN 19 Medan each as much as 2 classes. Experiment and Control Class. Data were analyzed by using independent sample t-test with SPSS 20 for windows at significance levela=0.05. Results showed that innovative chemistry textbook has been successfully developed into a complete teaching materials and interactive learning relevant to the subject matter on the chemistry and sub subject in the innovative textbook of the development results. Innovative textbook can be used to study the original teacher centered learning was transformed into a student centered learning.Keywords: textbook of chemistry, curriculum 2013, the PjBL model, high school

Abstract

This research aims to develop learning material in the form of colloid learning system module integrated with PjBL model in accordance with curriculum 2013 and to find out the increasing of students learning result after using learning module of colloid system integrated with Project Based Learning (PjBL) system. The type of the study is development research and experiment. It examines how the module of Integrated with Project Based Learning (PjBL) integrated with PjBL model is organized based on curriculum 2013 and the experiment is managed by analyzing the using of the module in senior high school. The study was carried out to the students of 9th grade of SMA Negeri 1 Sunggal and SMA Swasta Muhammadiyah 18 Sunggal school year of 2018/2019 in second semester. The data are examined by using independent sample of T-test by using SPSS 23 program. The result shows that colloid system module integrated with PjBL developed model is valid and appropriate to be used based on BSNP.The score of the students who are taught by with the module has increased in average about 82.80 (high) with a pretest score of 31.80 (low), the score of the students who are taught by using textbooks increase to 77.60 (middle) with a pretest score of 32.40 (low).Keywords: Module, Colloid, Project based learning

Abstract

Abstract Research on the Determination of Viscosity Money From Rubber by Fillers Charcoal has been done. Each latex was added into the coconut shell charcoal  ( particle size 80 mesh ) were 36 , 38 , 40 , 42 , and 44 grams. Then the latex is coagulated with formic acid in pH 4.7. Formic acid is used as a control for the rubber crumple without the addition of coconut shell. Research carried out by measuring the quality of rubber Money Viscosity. From the results of research it turns out that the value of the viscosity of the money obtained by the addition of charcoal to the rubber in the latex is 72.5 ; 74 ; 75.5 ; 77 ; and 75. It can be seen that the value of the best rubber Mooney viscosity of 75 , so the rubber with medium Mooney viscosity value  able to provide a meeting point between the energy efficient with superior physical properties.
