Abstract

Learning by practicum method is a way of delivering learning material by providing opportunities to the students to practicein order to make the students engage in planned and active learning experiences so that students' interest grows on chemistry subject. The population in this study were the students of XI class at YAPSI Senior High School in Medan. The sampling technique is done by using the Quota sampling technique. The instruments were the student’s interests in questionnaire and student activeness observation sheet. The requirements test is in the form of normality test and homogeneity test with the value of Lcount = 0.663 initial interests data and Lcount = 0.172 final interests data which means the data is normally distributed. In the homogeneity test Fcount = 0.233 initial interests data and Fcount = 0.449 final interests data with homogeneous results. The data analysis technique was done by using the hypothesis t test and N-gain test. The results showed that the hand soap making practice with the addition of pineapple extract (Ananas comosus L.. Merr) had an influence on students’ learning interest with N-gain of 7.6 in experimental class data and N-gain of 5.4 in control class data and from the t hypothesis test obtained Tcount> Ttable which Tcount = 6.90 and Ttable at level 0.05 is 2.01 so Ho is accepted, which means that there was an influence of the handsoap making practice with the addition of pineapple skin extract (Ananas comosus L. Abstract

Abstract Mangosteen peel extract is now widely used as an alternative treatment by society as an anti-oxidant without knowing the side effects. Consumption Monosodium glutamate (MSG) is used as a flavor enhancer in the food can cause various side effects due to formation of free radicals in the body such as liver dysfunction. The research method using true experimental designs aimed at comparing the effect of ethanol extract of mangosteen peel (EEKM) on liver damage caused by MSG administration to vitamin E. Of 15 fish samples DDW strain male mice, which were divided into three treatment groups, namely control group / distilled water (P0), MSG administration group (P2), group administration MSG and EEKM(P3). Then assessed liver function as well as evaluating the level of immunohistochemical staining of liver damage with TNF-α (NBP1-67 821, pAb, 1:50 dilution). Ethanol extract of mangosteen peel and are able to improve the look of immunohistochemical expression of TNF-α inflammatory process caused by MSG administration(p>0,05). Abstract

This study aims to determine how the procedure for developing blended learning worksheets based on guided inquiry models and science process skills on the material of reduction and oxidation reactions in SMK. The method used in this research is to follow the Lee and Owens development model consisting of 5 stages of development, namely Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation. Analysis includes analysis of needs, characteristics of students, objectives, materials and technology. Design, researchers determine the schedule and development team, median specifications, prepare materials and make Flowcharts and storyboards. Development, develop LKPD according to storyboards, validated by material and media experts, and assessed by the teacher. Implementation includes group trials and effectiveness tests. Abstract

Abstract   It has been researched the evaluation of PGMIPAU program based on the Context, Input, Process, Product (CIPP) model to chemistry education department, PGMIPAU classes, 2013/2014. The goal of the research was to evaluate the PGMIPAU program by using CIPP model and to analyse each aspect of it in order to give decision and recommendation about the program continuation. To achieve the goal of the research, we conducted the qualitative descriptive research. The samples were the management of chemistry education department, the faculties of PGMIPAU subjects which consisted of analytical chemistry II, english for chemistry II, and physical chemistry II at PGMIPAU classes, and the students of PGMIPAU. The data were acquired by interview, queisioner, and academic test. The data avaluation were done by using triangulation data and queisioner analysis was used descriptive statistic, scale 5. The result of the research showed that several aspects which corroded the PGMIPA program from CIPP model point of view. As general, there were minor factors which affected the lerning outcome, however it might be fixed in the future for perfection of this program. Based on the evaluation result to PGMIPAU program using CIPP model, it was decided that PGMIPAU program should be continued and needed several notes to has it perfected.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat perbedaan hasil belajar siswa dengan menggunakan metode kooperatif tipe jigsaw dan metode tugas/resitasi pada pokok bahasan hidrokarbon pada siswa SMA Negeri 11 Medan Kelas X semester II. Populasi dalam penelitian adalah seluruh siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 11 Medan. Cara penarikan sampel adalah secara acak sehingga diperoleh dua kelas. Kelas pertama diberi pengajaran dengan metode kooperatif tipe jigsaw dan kelas kedua diberi pengajaran dengan metode tugas/resitasi. Dari data nilai rata-rata selisih post-test dan pre-test yang diperoleh dari kelas metode kooperatif tipe jigsaw adalah sebesar 36,125 dan kelas metode tugas/resitasi sebesar 31,757. Data ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang sangat kecil antara peningkatan hasil belajar siswa dengan menggunakan metode kooperatif tipe jigsaw dan metode tugas/resitasi atau dengan kata lain relatif sama. Adapun besarnya kontribusi peningkatan hasil belajar siswa dengan menggunakan metode kooperatif tipe jigsaw adalah sebesar 12,09 % dibandingkan dengan metode tugas/resitasi. Berdasarkan hasil perhitungan thitung = 2,308 sedangkan harga ttabel (α = 0,05, dk = 75) = 1,985. Ini berarti Ha diterima atau dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan antara hasil belajar siswa dengan menggunakan metode kooperatif tipe jigsaw dan metode tugas/resitasi pada pokok bahasan hidrokarbon pada siswa SMA Negeri 11 Medan kelas X.Kata kunci: metode jigsaw metode tugas/resitasi, hasil belajar

Abstract

Abstract. Mercury (Hg) is a heavy metal that is a major concern in terms of health because it is toxic to humans. This study aims to determine the effect of long working on levels of mercury (Hg) in the urine of a gold miner in the village of Panton Luas Sawang District of South Aceh. The sampling technique is total sampling as many as 30 people. The results showed that the levels of mercury in the urine of the highest gold mine workers was 3.8 μg/l and the lowest was 2.0 μg/l with mean 2.82 μg/l (SD ± 0.57), the results Chi-square test showed that the length of work to give effect to the levels of mercury in the urine of miners (p = 0.046). Further research is recommended in order to see the difference in mercury levels in people who are exposed to mercury directly with a gold miner who was not involved in the amalgamation process and the local community at risk of exposure to mercury pollution from mining activities in the village and examine the population residing in other villages in the district mentioned. Abstract

Abstract. This research aims to develop innovative teaching materials chemistry-based multimedia to improve student learning outcomes in thermochemical material. This study is a Research and Development (R & D). This research was conducted in three schools, namely SMA Negeri 1 Percut Sei Tuan, SMA Taman Siswa, and SMA Al-Hidayah Medan. The sample in this study were selected by purposive sampling taken as many as two classes, experimental and control classes. Classroom teaching experiment were treated using innovative teaching materials chemistry-based multimedia classroom control while using the existing books in school. Prior to this research teaching materials have been assessed by two lecturers and 20 teachers chemical chemistry using a questionnaire BSNP. The results showed that (1) Analysis of the chemical on the material thermochemical book gives an average yield of assessing the feasibility of the contents of 3.61, 3.74 and appropriateness of language for the presentation of the feasibility of 3.59. (2) The components of learning be integrated into innovative chemistry teaching materials have been developed (with video integration laboratory activities carried out by the lab which penelit, integration methods and instructional media, and integration of multimedia learning). (3) Analysis of chemistry teachers and lecturers standard for analysis of the contents of about 4.33 eligibility standards, eligibility standard language of 4.12, and the standard of presentation of the feasibility of 4.20. It shows that the results of chemical analysis for innovative teaching materials based multimedia submitted are valid and do not need direvisi.Sedangkan for assessment of learning that has been developed multimedia gained an average of 3.80 is valid for use and does not need revision. (4) The results of experiments showed an increase chemistry student learning outcomes of each sample, namely: SMA Negeri 1 Percut Sei Tuan has an increased chemical learning outcomes by 69%, the SMA Taman Siswa amounted to 55.41% and the Al-Hidayah Private High School for 51.46%. (5) Analysis of student motivation measurements using innovative teaching materials chemistry-based multimedia teaching materials thermochemical the experimental class is high with an average of 72.94, and there is a positive relationship between learning motivation denagn chemistry student learning outcomes (r2 = 0.969 ) on thermochemical teaching. With the increased motivation of learning outcomes that are known from the results indicated that the results of studying chemistry students who are taught by using innovative teaching materials based multimedia kmia better than the results of studying chemistry students taught without the use of innovative teaching materials chemistry-based multimedia. Abstract

This study aims to describe the feasibility of the student worksheet developed in improving critical, creative, collaborative, and communicative thinking skills of students on acid-base material by using natural product. The student worksheet developed refers to the project-based learning model, which is integrated to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Method of this study uses a 4-D model (define, design, develop and disseminate), which is limited only to the development stage, and limited trials are carried out to nine students at senior high school. The feasibility of student worksheet is viewed from three aspects, namely validity, practicality, and effectiveness. The validity is viewed from the results of content and construct validity. The results obtained on each criterion show that the percentage score of 92.95% and 91.15% on very good category. The student worksheet's practicality in terms of activity observation and student response for each component obtained a percentage score of 95.18% and 88.09% on very practical category. The student worksheet's effectiveness in terms of the completeness of student learning outcomes showed an increase in the average N-Gain score of 0.84 on very high category and declared effective. Thus, the feasibility of the developed student worksheet in terms of all aspects such as percentage of scores obtained ≥ 61% in the aspects of validity, practicality and N-gain ≥ 0.3 in the aspect of effectiveness. So, the developed students worksheet oriented to STEM with PjBL model on acid base matter by using natural product is feasible for use in the learning.Keywords: acid-base, PjBL, STEM, student worksheet

Abstract

AbstractObesity is a global epidemiology and serious healthy treat due to morbidity and mortality raised. On the whole of the adult population in the world get obese 7.7% in men and 11.9% in women. Adipose tissue accumulates on obesity functioning as endocrine gland secrets all sitokin and peptide hormones. The secretion of those sitokin and hormones play role in controlling body weight balancing and energy metabolism. Resistin an adipositokin (adipokin) secreted by  adiposit that assumes to have important role as circuit between adiposity and insulin resistance. Physical exercises could influence resistin levels and blood sugar on obesity. This research aims to identify the influence of physical exercises ((healthy heart gym) of resistin and blood sugar levels on obesity. The design of this research uses purposive sampling. The subject of the study 25 female students of 18-21 years of age of Poltekkes Nutrition Department Kemenkes Aceh. Gymnastic exercise program done with a healthy heart with a frequency of 5 times a week for 4 weeks with intensity 30 minutes. The result of pre and post resistin levels checked is analyzed both descriptively and inferentially by t test and correlation (moment/pearson).   The result of t test of and correlation found that; there is no influence physical exercises toward resistin levels at the people with obesity (p= 0, 45), there is influence physical exercises (healthy heart gym) toward blood sugar levels of the people with obesity. (p=0, 03), there is no significant influences between resistin levels and blood sugar levels of the people with obesity in pre and posttest (p=0, 26). Based on the finding above, we may conclude that the physical exercises (healthy heart gym) influences toward blood sugar levels, but it doesn’t toward resistin levels.Keywords : Obesity, Resistin, blood sugar levels, physical exercises (healthy heart gym)

Abstract

Ulos merupakan kain tenun tradisional etnik Batak. Penggunaan pewarna alami Salaon (Indigofera tinctoria L) membutuhkan waktu lama dan tidak praktis sehingga ditinggalkan oleh pengrajin ulos di Kec Muara, Tapanuli Utara dan beralih ke pewarna kimia. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui perbedaan kualitas benang ulos yang menggunakan pewarna alami pasta ekstrak daun Salaon dengan pewarna kimia. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimental menggunakan metode ekstraksi zat warna dengan variable pengamatan uji warna, uji tahan luntur terhadap pencucian dan penyinaran. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kualitas benang ulos menggunakan ekstrak daun salaon lebih baik dengan nilai daya tahan luntur pencucian 4 (baik), terhadap penyinaran 4-5 (baik) dibandingkan pewarna kimia ponceau GRB dengan nilai daya tahan luntur pencucian 3-4(cukup), terhadap penyinaran 3-4 (cukup). Hasil identifikasi FTIR menunjukkan pada ekstrak daun salaon terdapat senyawa leuco indigo, sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa kualitas benang ulos yang menggunakan pewarna alami pasta ektrak daun salaon lebih baik daripada pewarna kimia.Kata kunci: ulos, Indigofera tinctoria L, pasta, Kec Muara Tapanuli Utara
