Abstract

Multiple choice tests have been used to measure students learning achievement for most of the courses at Universitas Terbuka (UT). To ensure the quality of the tests, test item analysis based on classical test theory has been employed regularly. This paper aims to analyze multiple-choice items of the End Semester Examination of UT using the program ITEMAN. The data used were the answers sheets of students taking eight courses in the first and second semester of 2009. Courses analyzed in this study were MKDU4111, PEMA4210, MKDU4109, ISIP4215, EKMA4214, ESPA4112, BIOL4110, and BIOL4119. The results showed that the test items used have had a pretty good quality. Average test item difficulties were fair. This was indicated by the mean value of P which ranged from 0.328 to 0.461. Discrimination index for both semester tests were good in about 75% of the courses measured. Its value ranges from 0.304 to 0.451 for the first semester of 2009 tests and 0.343 to 0.382 for the second semester of 2009 tests. Meanwhile, the reliability of the test items could be considered good except for the courses PEMA4210 (first semester 2009) and MKDU4111 (second semester 2009).

Abstract

This article describes students perceptions on UT Online services, level of student participation in the UT Online services, and the influence of UT Online services to students participation in 2012.1. Total tespondents was 120 students. Data analysis was done by using the frequency distribution and the average (mean). The influence to UT Online services was analyzed by using multiple linear regression analysis. Based on the descriptive and quantitative analysis, it can be concluded that: (1) the majority of UT students said that the quality of UT online bookstore online and TAP / online tutorial is good. (2) Participation of students to UT online services ( online bookstore or TAP / tutorials online ) good. (3) Quality of service Tutorial / TAP online significant effect on student participation. Artikel ini menjelaskan persepsi mahasiswa terhadap layanan Universitas Terbuka online, tingkat partisipasi mahasiswa terhadap layanan UT online, dan pengaruh kualitas layanan UT online terhadap partisipasi mahasiswa program non pendidikan dasar UPBJJ-UT Palembang pada masa ujian 2012.1. Jumlah responden 120 orang mahasiswa. Analisis data akan dilakukan dengan menggunakan distribusi frekuensi dan nilai rata-rata (mean). Untuk melihat pengaruh kualitas layanan UT online terhadap partisipasi mahasiswa digunakan analisis regresi linier berganda. Berdasarkan hasil analisis deskriptif maupun kuantitatif dapat disimpulkan bahwa: (1) sebagian besar mahasiswa UT mengatakan bahwa kualitas layanan UT online baik toko buku online maupun TAP/tutorial onlinetergolong baik. (2) Partisipasi mahasiswa terhadap layanan UT online (toko buku online maupun TAP/tutorial online) secara keseluruhan baik. (3) Kualitas layanan Tutorial/TAP online berpengaruh signifikan terhadap partisipasi mahasiswa program non pendidikan dasar UPBJJ-UT Palembang.

Abstract

Online examination started in UPBJJ-UT Surabaya since 2005.2 named UBK (Ujian Berbasis Komputer/Computer Based Examination) until 2009.2. On 2010.1, UBK was implemented more perfectly, and the name has changed to beOnline Examination System ( Sistem Ujian Online/ SUO).However, the number of students who participated in both UBK and SUO is always less than 20 people or less than 2% of total of students of Non-Basic Education Study Program at UPBJJ-UT Surabaya. This article explains about the evaluation of the implementation of online examination, specifically on Non-Basic Education Study Program at UPBJJ-UT Surabaya. One hundred twenty five students and five administrator acted as the informant of the evaluation, and survey, in-depth interview, and direct observation were used to collect data and information. Research result showed that majority of students still do not know about online examination system and socialization of online examination system by institution was the biggest factor that affect this condition.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find an alternative model for Online bookstore that works for Universitas Terbuka. The alternative model should reduce the difference between the ordering and delivering transaction, which in turn can improve the performance of Toko Buku Online UT. Results showed that there were several significant factors that must be present in the Online bookstore system. Such factors are treating customers well by including updated information about orders that have been made; improving business processes continuously and periodically based on input and evaluation from the consumer; letting consumers decide their own transactions by providing FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) facility; and performing personal services among others through email and chat facility. Based on these findings, the proposed recommendations is to add some features to the system of Toko Buku Online UT. These features include buffer stocks, auto-reply mechanism, information about the delivery and return of materials, chat facility (facebook, twitter, yahoo messenger), and FAQ facility.

Abstract

Study program S1 Agriculture Extension and Communication (S1 Agribusiness) in Universitas Terbuka (UT) has been opened since 2004.Starting from 2012.2, Agribusiness Studies Program established practicum guide as a guidance for students that do their practicums indepedently. Thisstudy aims to get students perceptions of self practicum management regardingthe implementation o independent practicum guidanceand analyzethe constraintsthat existin the fieldexperienced bythe students. The survey was conducted on students who took practicum t during 2013.1 to 2014.2 regisration period. A survey was performed by a questionnaire. The questionnaire asks three aspects of practicumimplementation which arepracticum guidance aspect, material aspect and  of practical support services aspect. Students perceptions regardingpractical implementation arepositive, although there are a tendencies of students have difficulties understanding the practical guidelines. They feel the guideline as not systematic and lacking details.. The language used in the guideline regarded by most non-extension students as difficult to understand. Students expect thepractical guide to be more detailed and clear. They said that it would be easier if at any part of the report is written in great detail of what should they fill, there should be an explanation of how the repot will be rated.Although in generalstudents have positive perceptions, there were some studentshad dificulties in accessing practicalguidance, obtainingmaterialsand tools, and havingqualified and competent instructor. Anotherconstraint felt by most ofthe studentsis the marks sometimes received out of schedule. Mulai masa registrasi 2012.2 Program Studi Agribisnis Fakultas Matematika dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam Universitas Terbuka (FMIPA-UT) menerapkan pelaksanaan praktikum mandiri dan memberlakukan Panduan Pelaksanaan PraktikumMandiri yang dirancang sebagai panduan bagi peserta praktikum untuk melaksanakan praktikum secara mandiri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan datapersepsi mahasiswa terhadap pedoman dan pelaksanaan praktikum mandiri, serta kendala-kendala di lapangan yang dialami oleh mahasiswa.Survei dilakukan terhadap mahasiswa yang mengambil praktikum pada masa registrasi 2013.1 sampai dengan 2014.2 dengan meminta mereka mengisi kuesioner. Kuesioner menanyakan tiga aspek dari pelaksanaan praktikum yaitu aspek pedoman praktikum, aspek materi praktikum dan aspek layanan penunjang praktikum. Persepsi mahasiswa terhadap pelaksanaan praktikum cukup positif, meskipun ada kecenderungan mahasiswa mengalami kesulitan memahami pedoman praktikum. Mereka merasakan panduan praktikum kurang sistematis dan detail. Bahasa yang digunakan dalam panduan oleh sebagian mahasiswa non penyuluh dianggap sulit dipahami. Mahasiswa mengharapkan panduan praktikum dibuat lebih detail dan jelas. Mereka mengatakan akan lebih mudah jika pada setiap bagian laporan dituliskan secara detail hal-hal yang harus mereka masukkan, jika perlu diberikan kisi-kisi penilaian laporan. Meskipun secara umum persepsi mahasiswa terhadap praktikum positif, namun masih ada sebagian mahasiswa yang mengalami kendala dalam hal mengakses panduan praktikum, memperoleh bahan dan alat praktikum serta tidak mudah mendapatkan instruktur yang kompeten. Kendala lain yang dirasakan sebagian besar mahasiswa adalah nilai praktikum yang tidak diterima sesuai jadwal.

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to explore the constrains of Universitas Terbuka (UT) online bookstore in Bandar Lampung regional center in serving UTs students. Data was collected by using questionnaire and analyzed by using percentage technique. The result showed that 50% students did not maximally use online Bookstore in buying UTs modules, and only 32% who really took the advantages and enjoyed outstanding service. The rest of students just used part of the services. Many students still did not know how to order the module via internet, ordering process was not always expeditious, difficult in ordering stage, and not all places where the students live have an internet access, and some places can not be reached easily. Meanwhile, modules was acquired in one way only which is through the online Bookstore. Artikel ini menjelaskankan kendala Toko Buku Online (TBO) Universitas Terbuka (UT) dalam melayani pembelian bahan ajar/modul. Pengumpulan data menggunakan metode angket. Analisis data menggunakan teknik persentase. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 50% mahasiswa Non Pendas di UPBJJ-UT Bandar Lampung tidak menggunakan layanan Toko Buku Online secara maksimal. Hanya 32% yang benar-benar memanfaatkan serta menikmati pelayanan yang memuaskan. Selebihnya hanya memanfaatkan sebagian dari layanan yang ada. Selain itu, masih banyak mahasiswa yang belum tahu cara memesan modul secara online, proses pemesanan tidak selalu lancar, sering terjadi kesulitan pada tahap pemesanan, dan tidak semua daerah tempat tinggal mahasiswa tersedia layanan internet serta tidak semua tempat dapat dijangkau dengan mudah oleh pos ataupun bank. Padahal untuk memperoleh modul mahasiswa hanya mempunyai satu jalur yaitu melalui Toko Buku Online yang harus diakses melalui internet. Toko Buku Online sebagai suatu layanan bagi mahasiswa untuk memperoleh modul masih dirasa menyulitkan bagi mahasiswa non pendas.

Abstract

This research is aimed at analyzing the influence of academic service quality to the satisfaction of Master Degree Program (PPs) - Open University (UT) in the distance study unit program (UPBJJ) Mataram. The data were subsequently analyzed by double linear regression. This research finding showed that, partially the indicator of reliability dimension, responsiveness, and assurance were not influenced significantly by the students satisfaction. It was caused by the Master Degree Program UT in UPBJJ Mataram has not provided a service that is expected by the students. Otherwise the indicator of tangibles and empathy partially have significant role that influences the students satisfaction. From the five indicators, it can be seen that the empathy dimension has dominant role that influences the satisfaction of students in Master Degree Program UT in UPBJJ Mataram. Simultaneously, the quality of academic service consisted of tangible, reliability, responsiveness, assurance and empathy that has highly significant role. The higher of service quality increased the higher of students satisfaction level in Master Degree Program UT in UPBJJ Mataram. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis pengaruh kualitas layanan akademik terhadap kepuasan mahasiswa Program Pascasarjana (PPs) Universitas Terbuka pada Unit Program Belajar Jarak Jauh (UPBJJ) Mataram. Teknik analisis data dengan menggunakan regresi linier berganda. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa, secara parsial indikator dimensi keterandalan (reliability), responsiveness dan assurance tidak berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap kepuasan mahasiswa, hal ini disebabkan PPs-UT pada UPBJJ Mataram belum memberikan pelayanan seperti yang diharapkan oleh mahasiswa. Selanjutnya, pada indikator tangibles dan empathy secara parsial memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap kepuasan mahasiswa. Dari ke lima indikator tersebut, dimensi emphaty memiliki pengaruh yang paling dominan terhadap kepuasan mahasiswa Program Pascasarjana UT pada UPBJJ Mataram. Secara simultan, kualitas layanan akademik yang terdiri dari tangible, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, dan empathy mempunyai pengaruh signifikan yang sangat tinggi, artinya semakin tinggi kualitas pelayanan maka semakin tinggi pula tingkat kepuasan mahasiswa PPs-UT pada UPBJJ Mataram.

Abstract

Universitas Terbuka (UT) as an open and distance higher education institution needs to have data on the student reasons why they enrolling at UT and why they choose their study programs. The data can be obtained from alumni who recently graduated, for that UT has developed an exit survey applications. There are two programs that are managed by UT, the Regular Program or Non-Pendas and Basic Education Program (Pendas). In this study respondents of the exit survey consist of 3,190 Regular Program alumni and 34,856 Program Pendas alumni, which is a graduate of UT during 2009.2 to 2010.2 semesters. The results of exit survey data processing shows that there are some differences regarding the reasons for the UT enrollment and reasons for choosing study program, among the Regular and Pendas Program alumni. The main reason for the Regular and Pendas Program alumni enrolled at UT is "Knowledge Improvement". While the main reason for choosing study program for the Regular Programme alumni is "Supporting the Job", while alumni from Pendas Program is "Knowledge Improvement". In the future the data obtained from exit survey can be used for dissemination and promotion, increasing the number of students, as well as reducing the number of non-active students. Universitas Terbuka (UT) sebagai institusi pendidikan tinggi terbuka jarak jauh perlu memiliki data mengenai apa alasan mahasiswa masuk UT dan apa alasan mereka memilih program studi. Data tersebut dapat diperoleh dari alumni yang baru saja lulus, untuk itu UT telah mengembangkan aplikasi exit survey. Ada dua program yang dikelola oleh UT, yaitu Program Reguler atau Non-Pendas dan Program Pendidikan Dasar (Pendas). Dalam penelitian ini responden exit survey dari Program Reguler sebanyak 3.190 dan Program Pendas berjumlah 34.856, yang merupakan lulusan UT pada masa yudisium 2009.2 sampai dengan 2010.2. Hasil pengolahan data exit survey memperlihatkan bahwa terdapat beberapa perbedaan mengenai alasan masuk UT dan alasan memilih program studi, antara alumni Program Reguler dan Pendas. Alasan utama masuk UT bagi alumni Program Reguler maupun Pendas adalah Menambah Pengetahuan. Sedangkan alasan utama memilih program studi bagi alumni Program Reguler adalah Menunjang Pekerjaan, sementara alumni Program Pendas adalah Menambah Pengetahuan. Di masa yang akan datang data yang diperoleh dari exit survey dapat digunakan untuk sosialisasi dan promosi, meningkatkan jumlah mahasiswa, serta menurunkan jumlah mahasiswa non-aktif.

Abstract

In an ODL system, the interactivity among a course material and students is part of learning process. The aim of this article is to get information from students of the quality of non printed course material as supplemented course material and to analyze the influence of the use of the non printed course material on students concept understanding. In this study, the non printed course materials are audio BMP of Human Anatomy and Physiology, Graphic audio of Biometry, and CAI of Biochemistry. Data was collected through instruments in forms of objective item test and questioners. The study showed that there were improvement of students understanding on concepts of Human Anatomy and Physiology by using audio BMP, concepts of Biometry by using Graphic audio, and concepts of Biochemistry by using CAI program. The gain of understanding between pre-test and post test was significant at ?=0.05. The quality of CAI of Biochemistry as interactive learning program was adequate. However, the quality of audio BMP of Human Anatomy and Physiology and Graphic audio of Biometry were still needed to be improved so it could be better interactive learning programs.

Abstract

This article is a descriptive study that describes the quality of face-to-face tutorials in undergraduate studies at UPBJJ Pangkalpinang during the registration period of 2011.2. The method used in this study is a survey using a questionnaire. The population of the study consists of all tutors and undergraduate students that conduct face-to-face tutorials in all study groups throughout UPBJJ-UT Pangkalpinang region during the registration period of 2011.2. Samples were taken with a purposive random sampling. The aim of this study is focused on the implementation of the tutorial for undergraduate students. The study will also discuss a few other aspects: (a). Students profile (b). Tutors: knowledge and skills of tutors, and tutors commitment in implementing the tutorial. (c). Teaching materials and supplies. (d). Tutorial location and facilities. The results of this experiment are: (1) Students attendance and participation in tutorial activities are good enough, as seen during the tutorial almost all the students are present and active. Most students wish there is a face-to-face tutorial conducted for all offered courses. (2). Tutorial implementation run well according to the schedules. The tutorial provided good support to students in their learning process at UT and these activities can eliminate the perception that learning at UT is only needed when the final exams approach. (3). Tutors capability in implementing face-to-face tutorials in undergraduate studies within the 2011.2 PGSD registration period is categorized as good, partly because the S-1 PGSD tutors had received training and capacity building before carrying out the tutorial. (4). The District Education Office takes a solid role in organizing tutorials, including provision of tutorial venues (usually done in school buildings), provision of accommodation for students who live remotely from the tutorial venue, and keeping students informed on tutorial schedules and venues. Artikel ini adalah penelitian deskriptif yang menggambarkan kualitas TTM S-1 Pendas di UPBJJ-UT Pangkalpinang pada masa registrasi 2011.2. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah survei dengan menggunakan angket dan observasi. Populasi dalam penelitian ini seluruh tutor dan mahasiswa program S-1 Pendas yang melaksanakan kegiatan TTM di seluruh pokjar yang ada di wilayah UPBJJ-UT Pangkalpinang masa registrasi 2011.2. Sampel diambil dengan purposive random sampling. Tujuan penelitian ini difokuskan pada pelaksanaan tutorial bagi mahasiswa program S-1 Pendas. Selain itu dibahas pula berbagai aspek antara lain: (a). Profil mahasiswa (b). Tutor: pengetahuan dan keterampilan tutor dan komitmen tutor dalam melaksanakan tutorial. (c). Bahan Ajar dan bahan pendukung. (d). Tempat dan fasilitas kegiatan tutorial. Hasil penelitian ini adalah: (1) Pada kegiatan tutorial, kehadiran dan peran serta mahasiswa cukup baik, hal ini terlihat pada saat tutorial berlangsung hampir semua mahasiswa hadir dan aktif. Sebahagian besar mahasiswa menginginkan agar semua matakuliah yang ditawarkan dilaksanakan tutorial tatap muka. (2). Pelaksanaan tutorial pada prinsipnya berjalan dengan baik sesuai dengan jadwal yang telah ditentukan. Pelaksanaan Tutorial sangat membantu mahasiswa dalam proses pembelajaran di UT dan kegiatan ini dapat menghilangkan kesan bahwa kuliah di UT hanya cukup belajar menjelang UAS saja. (3). Kemampuan para Tutor dalam pelaksanaan TTM S-1 PGSD masa registrasi 2011.2 termasuk kategori baik, antara lain karena para tutor S-1 PGSD telah mengikuti pelatihan dan pembekalan tutor sebelum melaksanakan tutorial. (4). Peran Dinas Pendidikan Kabupaten/Kota sangat baik dalam penyelenggaraan tutorial, antara lain dengan menyediakan tempat tutorial (biasanya dilakukan di gedung-gedung sekolah), menyediakan tempat tinggal bagi mahasiswa yang rumahnya jauh dari tempat tutorial serta menginformasikan kepada mahasiswa tentang waktu dan tempat pelaksanaan tutorial.
