Abstract

Constructing representations in the form of visualization can help students connect with problem situations and facilitate students' ability to communicate their understanding of the problem. This implies the ability to translate mathematical concepts. This research is a descriptive study that aims to describe the ability to translate trigonometric ideas from verbal forms to visual forms of students. This research was conducted at mathematics education of STKIP Santu Paulus Ruteng which involved 75 first-level students as a sample. The results of this study indicate that the students’ at the mathematics education department of STKIP Santu Paulus Ruteng, especially in the new semester, were mostly still capable of teaching the translation of trigonometric concepts from verbal to visual forms, some of which were at the PU level with a percentage of 35.2%. In the second level, 30.6% is in the PUSM, SU category, 17.6%, NU is 13.8% and SM is 2.8%. The results of this research can be used as references for high school teachers to find out their graduation profile in terms of translational skills and also input for lecturers to be able to adjust the lecture process based on the characteristics that have been produced

Abstract

The Law of The Republic of Indonesia number 14 in 2005 concerning Teacher and Lecturer opened opportunities for a fresh graduate of S1/D4 programs to become a teacher. This opportunity is a big challenge for a fresh graduate of Natural Sciences Education Program in competition against a fresh graduate of pure natural sciences program to be a teacher. This study was a literature study and observation. The purpose of this study was to explain how to prepare undergraduate students of Natural Sciences Education Program facing competition to become teachers. The result of this study showed that the mastery of pedagogical content knowledge becomes important for the students of Natural Sciences Education Program to show their advantages in employment competition.

Abstract

Pola-pola pembangunan saat ini, mencerminkan bagaimana masyarakat dalam menyikapi kekayaan maupun potensi ekologi-lingkungan sekitar, untuk modal dalam pembangunan, di samping perannya sebagai pengemudi dan pengontrol ritme alam, sehingga menentukan stabilitas dinamika hubungan antara sesama dan alam sekitar. Di samping itu, keseimbangan tatanan alam, juga dapat dibangun dan tercipta dari perkembangan ilmu pengetahuan serta teknologi (IPTEKS),yang dikembangkan untuk memudahkan manusia mengeksplore lebih jauh kekayaan atau potensi tatanan ekologi-lingkungan dengan segala konsekuensinya. Oleh karena itu, dimensi kajian ekologi mempunyai peran penting dalam mendeteksi, merefleksi dan mengevaluasi dinamika pembangunan tersebut, sertamampu menentukan langkah kedepan, yang mengarah pada keseimbangan alam yang komprehensif dan integratif, baik secara ekologis maupun non ekologis. Kajian pustaka (Library Research)dan pengamatan intensif (Depth-Observations), yang digunakanuntukmenganalisa kontens dari fenomena ekologismaupun non ekologis, sehingga elaborasi maupunkolaborasikeilmuan sangat dibutuhkandalammemahamidinamikatatananekologismaupun non ekologis, terkaitadanyaproses pembangunan yang terusberjalan. Asumsi mengenai hubungan manusia dengan alam tidak akan tercapai keseimbangan atau harmonisasi, bilamana paradigma pembangunan yang dibangunnya tidak mencerminkan atau merepresentasikan pada kaidah-kaidahekologis yang berlaku. Oleh karena itu, kerusakan demi kerusakan ekologis terus mengalami peningkatan dengan tahap yang semakin mengkwatirkan, yang tentunya dapat mengarah pada tahap kerusakan non ekologis (konflik sosial, ekonomi, budaya, politik, bahkan agama), bilamana tiadanya solusi yang strategis dan alternatif, dalam meresponnyasecaraadaptifdanpersuasif. Kata Kunci: PotensiEkologi-lingkungan,KeseimbanganEkologisdan Non ekologis, KaidahEkologis, sertaPembangunan Berkelanjutan

Abstract

The research purpose was to produce learning material as the quality of Student Work Sheets based on contextual learning to facilitate Mathematics concept understanding skill of Junior High School student 7th Grade at triangle material and to describe the quality of Student Work Sheets that has a valid, simple and effective qualification. Student Work Sheets development based on Ministry of Education development model that adapted from Borg and Gall procedure development through some steps: (1) doing product development analysis, (2) developing beginning product, (3) expert’s validation and revision, (4) small-scale field test and product revision, and (5) significant scale field test and last  product. Student Work Sheets quality described based on the marking result of material expert, media expert, and mathematics teacher for the validation aspect, student respond questionnaire and observation sheets of learning application for simplicity aspect, also a post-test question for affectivity aspect. The research result showed that the quality of Student Work Sheets product in validation aspect fulfill good and very good criteria based on the mark from a material expert, media expert, and assessor with the average score for each aspect was 4,19; 4,31; and 4,23. Simplicity aspect fulfills good and very good criteria based on the result of student respond questionnaire and observation sheets of learning application with the average score for each aspect was 3,55 and 93,68%. However, for affectivity aspect fulfill good criteria based on student post-test with the average score was 79,17 from the maximal score was 100 and completeness percentage was 69%.

Abstract

Learning physics science is ideally accomplished through the experiments, although the theory of special relativity is challenging to understand. It is difficult because this topic has not occurred in real experience, and no technology has launched at the speed of light. To understand this theory, Virtual Reality (VR) can potentially visualize the actual concept of relativity by presenting an artificial environment to the students. The aim of this research is to develop the virtual reality application as a learning media for special relativity. This Research and Development uses the Lee and Owens Model, which consists of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The system development method used is black-box testing. The result of the development of this system is the creation of a VR application to explain the material of relativity. From the results of black-box testing, the test results show that the percentage of application system success is 83%, which indicates that the application is functioning correctly on smartphone usage so that this application can be used on the theory of relativity simulation users using virtual reality devices.

Abstract

The general objective of this research is to discover and analyze empirically the influence of mastery learning math concepts and creativity together to discipline behavior. Affordable population in this study was student of mathematics university fourth semester regular morning Indraprasta PGRI South Jakarta. 100 samples are obtained through a multi- stage random sampling method. The research design used through correlation techniques with three variables consisting of two independent variables, namely mastery of mathematical concepts and creativity in learning as well as the dependent variable, namely behavioral discipline. Data was collected through questionnaire techniques (variable learning creativity and disciplined behavior) and engineering tests (variable mastery of mathematics concepts). The collected data were then analyzed using correlation and multiple regression techniques. Before the data were analyzed, first performed descriptive statistical analysis and test data requirements (normality test, linearity, and multicollinearity test). The results showed that: there is a significant influence mastery of mathematical concepts and creativity to learn the discipline of behavior, with a correlation coefficient of 0.781 and 0.610 coefficient of determination or 61 % mastery learning math concepts and creativity jointly influence the behavior of the discipline. The resulting regression equation y = 42.693 + 0.279X1 + 0.505X2. This may imply that the higher a person's mastery of mathematical concepts the better the behavior of the higher discipline and creativity to learn the higher discipline behavior.

Abstract

This aim of the research is to make valid, practical, and effective constructivism learning. The development of constructivism learning module applies Borg's research procedure theory, basically consisting of: (1) preliminary study and data collection, (2) planning, (3) developing initial product, (4) limited testing, (5) revising product (6) conducting field tests, (7) revising the operational product, (8) conducting operational field tests, (9) revising the final product, and (10) eliminating and implementing the product. This module is for class X students on the subject of measurement. Students will be able to learn independently by constructivist principles. The results of this study include (1) Creation of constructivism learning module from requirement analysis, module design, expert validation, small-scale module test revision, large-scale module test revision. (2) the feasibility of constructivism learning module that includes physics constructivism learning module on measurement material in the expert test included in the valid category and without revision with percentage level 76%. Student responses on the small-scale test as well as large-scale test get the positive response.

Abstract

This Classroom Action Research aims to describe the implementation of cooperative learning model type check-assisted mind mapping to improve cooperative skills of class VIIIA students of SMP Negeri 5 Banguntapan Yogyakarta on odd semester 2018/2019 academic year totaling 32 students. Data collection techniques in this study use observation techniques, questionnaires, and documentation. The results showed that the average cooperative skills in the first cycle were 71.1% increasing to 76.1% in the second cycle

Abstract

The research objective is to obtain an appropriate media and learning physics can help understanding the basic concepts in physics learning, especially for the completion of a straight motion of matter in the junior class VII. The study design used in this study is a 2x2 factorial design with three variables, namely instructional media, interest in student learning, and learning outcomes Physics. The samples obtained through the Multi Stage Sampling, each 13 person for 4 classes, so that individual large sample size of 52 students. Data analysis using ANOVA of two lines techniques, and first performed a descriptive statistical analysis and test analysis requirements. The results showed that: 1) there is the differences of learning outcomes of students who were taught physics learning media fascination with physics and conventional instructional media, 2) there is the differences of learning outcomes of students who are interested in studying physics of high and low learning interest, and 3) there is an interaction effect of learning media and interest in learning the results of learning Physics.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to overcome student’s misconception towards nervous system material through concept map. This research applies action research as the method which consists of four steps in namely: planning, action, observation, and reflection. The subject of this research is class B of the 9th-grade students of SMPN 2 Legok Kabupaten Tangerang. The total of students is 34 students. This action research was held in October 2012. The results of research reveal that the application of concept map in nervous system learning material is able to overcome misconception problem of the students.  Cycle 1 reveals that the misconception reduced to as much as 36.5% and it increases in cycle 2 for as much as 40.6%.
