Abstract

The purpose of this research is to develop an interactive economic learning media that can be tested for its efficiency. Method The research used in this research is Rnd (Research and Development) research. which uses the Robert March ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implement, Evaluate) model. The data collection technique consisted of a questionnaire . The results showed that the economic interactive learning media was declared efficient according to the combined results of the four validators with an average of 95.8% with a very valid category, and judging from the one to one trial with an average of 98.52% with a very valid category. and the small group trial with an average of 97.05% in the very category. So the interactive economic learning media at SMA Negeri 1 Palembang is very feasible to be used as a learning medium.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to examine the impact of Entrepreneurial Infrastructure (EI) on profitability of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), focusing on hotels in Minna, Nigeria. Methodology: Sequential Explanatory Mixed research method was adopted. Purposive Sampling Technique was used to obtain a sample size of 51 out of a population of 70 hotels in Minna for collection of quantitative data via questionnaires, while Simple Random Sampling Technique was used to select 10 interviewees for collection of qualitative data via interviews. Descriptive statistics was employed in analysing the quantitative data, while thematic analysis was used in analysing the qualitative data. Findings: Quantitative findings revealed that the available EI in Minna had a negative impact on the profitability of hotels, while qualitative findings also revealed that interviewees generally felt a poor impact of EI on the profitability of their hotels. Practical implications: These findings would be useful to potential and practicing entrepreneurs in the hotel industry, policy makers and the academic community. It is recommended that government at all levels should formulate policies that will address challenges of the deplorable condition of EI in Nigeria. Paper type: Research paper

Abstract

Purpose: Whether an occurrence is natural disaster and man-made calamity, one thing is sure, it is not expected and at some instances, it cannot be avoided by any means. Just like other entities, businesses are vulnerable to these risks and it would surely cost the resources and profit of these enterprises. This study aimed to unravel the enterprise continuity and resiliency factors among Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises in Region XII in the Philippines. Design/methodology/approach: The survey utilized an Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) with 450 respondents Findings: Results showed that there were five elements that emerged: disaster preparedness, institutional planning and control, external relations, stakeholder’s support, disaster mitigation and support investment. Research limitations/implications: Although most of the enterprises surveyed have an idea how to respond to calamities and mitigate disastrous situations, this research argues that a solid policy framework might be drawn through the local government units concerned to institutionalized this effort. Practical implications: Findings suggest that models such as pre-disaster agreement may be initiated and policy framework can be patterned after The Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction Originality/value: This paper is an original work. Abstract

Purpose: The study employed the behavioural theory of entrepreneurship to assess the relationship between entrepreneurial management practices and the business characteristics of SMEs in Ghana. Design/methodology/approach: A total of 202 SMEs were sampled from the service, industry, and agricultural sectors in Ghana. The data was collected using a structured questionnaire and analysed using Weighted Mean, ANOVA, and Independent t-tests with Minitab 17.0 software. Findings: the study revealed that business characteristics such as business size and sector of operations significantly affect the SMEs’ management decision-making in strategic orientation, resource orientation, management structure, and entrepreneurial culture. However, Business size and sector of operation are not necessarily significant factors influencing the SMEs’ reward philosophy and growth orientation. Research limitations/implications: This study recognizes the need for providing SMEs with management intervention programs that train the skills of entrepreneurial management to improve their competitiveness at the global level. The study is beneficial to policymakers in Ghana such as the Ministry for Business Development, the National Board for Small Scale Industries (NBSSI), and Higher Educational institutions for the development of entrepreneurship programs. Originality/value: The findings of the study contribute to inventive knowledge in entrepreneurial management strategies and in terms of size and business industry. Paper type: a Research Paper

Abstract

Purpose: The advantage of lightweight concrete is to reduce the weight, which is considered the dead load on the structure. This study aims to determine the effect of replacing sand with pumice sand as fine aggregate in lightweight concrete. The substitution affects the compressive strength, split tensile strength, and weight. Design/methodology/approach: The research method is through testing in the laboratory, where the test specimens are cylindrical following SNI with a height of 30 cm and a diameter of 15 cm totaling 50 pieces. The composition ratio between regular and pumice sand is 75%:25%, 50%:50%, 25%:75%, and 0%:100%, respectively. Control of the test object using 100% regular sand. Findings: This research shows that adding pumice sand into the mixture decreases the volume weight. The weight of the volume of concrete produced is < 1,900 kg/m3, which is classified as a lightweight one. Research limitations/implications: The resulting compressive strength of 56.63 kg/cm2 decreased against the control test object by 81.10%. At the same time, the split tensile strength is 1.13 kg/cm2, or a decline of 52.05% from the control test object. Originality/value: This paper is an original work. Paper type: Research paper

Abstract

Purpose: The main objective of this study is to determine if there are domains of job performance and job stress that significantly influence work-life balance among COVID-19 Frontliners in Tagum City. Design/methodology/approach: This study used quantitative non-experimental research design utilizing correlational technique with a total sample size of 200 COVID-19 Frontliners selected through random sampling, data were collected through adopted survey questionnaire. The statistical tools used for data treatment in this study were mean, pearson-r and regression analysis. Findings: The result showed a very high level of job performance, moderate level of job stress, and high level of work-life balance among COVID-19 Frontliners. Also, there is a significant relationship between job performance and work-life balance, and between job stress and work-life balance. Practical implications: The domains of job performance and job stress that significantly predict work-life balance are task performance, having managerial responsibilities, and feeling poorly managed and resourced. Abstract

Purpose: Digital marketing has evolved from the marketing of products and services to digital channels for activities, institutions, and processes facilitated by digital technology. This study provides a disciplinary broad overview of the academic contribution to the marketing revolution by exploring changes in digital marketing research in SMEs cited by scientific researchers over 19 years (2001-2020). Thus, this paper presents a systematic literature review using bibliometric analysis with the aim of examining development trends, identifying gaps, understanding the advantages and benefits of digital marketing on SMEs and mapping out new hypotheses for future research. Design/methodology/approach: The method used is a bibliometric study to search for articles related to the research theme Findings: The results show that social media is the keyword that is often employed. Related research has been achieved in many countries, and the most predominant are England and America. Research limitations/implications: This study is limited to a single database, Scopus, from 2001 to 2020. Practical implications: The findings of this study are likely to serve as a starting point for future research in digital marketing.Besides, it becomes a resource to make the most of social media marketing to grow SMEs.
