Abstract

The use of traditional medicine continues to increase and has been used widely as an treatment. Not only concoction itself, traditional medicinal products today have been widely circulating. his study aims to obtain an overview of the use of traditional medicine Kelurahan Tuah Karya Pekanbaru City. The type of research used is descriptive observational research with cross sectional design. The selection of respondents was conducted by non random sampling with a purposive sampling technique and obtained as many as 168 respondents. The instrument used was a multiple choice sheet with six categories of questions. The description of traditional drug use obtained, namely the type of traditional medicine used by the community is herbal medicine (52.38%), with the reason that the community uses traditional medicine because it is made from natural ingredients (37.50%) and sources of information obtained from print media electronics (47.62%), the place to obtain traditional medicines from the pharmacy (64.29%), the most common type of disease is colds (37.50%) and the dosage forms that are mostly used are fluids (92.86%)

Abstract

Traditional medicine is medicine that is used empirically for traditional medical derived from plants, animals, minerals, preparations (galenic), or a mixture of these materials that can be made into various dosage forms including capsules, tablets, pills and others, without using medicinal chemicals. This study aims to determine public perceptions about traditional medicine in the Simpang Baru Village, Tampan District, Pekanbaru City. This research is an observational / survey research which is descriptive in nature. Sampling was done by purposive sampling, the sample obtained in this study were 105 respondents who had used traditional medicine the last three months. The results showed that there was still a good public perception of traditional medicine in Simpang Baru Village. From these results it can be concluded that the perceptions that arise in the community regarding traditional medicine are traditional medicines made in Indonesia, the content is safer (halal) (87.8%) and for the perception of the reasons people use traditional medicines because traditional medicines are hereditary (82.7%).

Abstract

A study on the effect of cherry leaf infusion (Muntingia calabura L.) on glucose levels of male white mice (Mus musculus) given glucose load. This study aims to see the effect of cherry leaf infusion (Muntingia calabura L.) to blood glucose levels of male white mice (Mus musculus) given glucose load as much as 0.65ml / 20gBB. This research used Oral Glucose Tolerance Test (TTGO) method. Animal experiments were divided into 6 groups. The negative control group was given only aquadest, the positive group was given metformin with the dosage of 1.3mg / 20gBB, the comparison group was given 0.65ml / 20gBB glucose solution, the treatment group was given cesen leaves infusion (Muntingia calabura L.) with concentration 5, 10 and 20 %. After each test animal was given 30 minutes treatment then given glucose 0.65ml / 20gBB orally. Then measured blood glucose levels of mice at minute 30-180. Based on the results of testing the infusion of kersen leaf (Muntingia calabura L.) showed that the concentrations of 5, 10 and 20% had decreased levels of white mice blood glucose (Mus musculus) with normal control. However, the results of the two-way ANOVA assay continued with the Post Hoc Tukey test showed that the concentration of 20% differed significantly with the concentrations of 5 and 10%. And the results obtained also indicate that the duration of administration may affect the decrease in blood glucose levels of mice (p <0.05).

Abstract

The main active compound of celery is apigenin which is thought to have an immunostimulatory effect. This research aimed to evaluate the immunostimulatory effects of the ethanol extract of the celery leaf (Apium graveolens L.) using carbon clearance methods. The animal models used were albino mice male which were divided into 5 groups. Group I as negative control (tween 80%), group II, III, IV were given ethanol extract of celery leaves at a dose of 125 mg kgbw, 250 mg/kgbw, 500 mg/kgbw, and group V as the positive control (Stimuno Forte®). The dosage is given orally in a single dose for 6 days. The results showed the administration of test preparations with a dose of 125 mg/kgbw, 250 mg/kgbw, 500 mg/kgbw showed the phagocytosis constant value, half-life and leukocyte values ​​were significantly different from negative control (p <0.01). Phagocytosis indices from test preparations with a dose of 125 mg kgbw, 250 mg/kgbw, 500 mg/kgbw also show values ​​greater than 1. It was concluded that the ethanol extract of celery leaves at a dose of 125 mg kgbw, 250 mg/kgbw, 500 mg/kgbw is as immunostimulants.

Abstract

Antioxidants are compounds that can inhibit or prevent the oxidation process of other compounds caused by free radicals. Free radicals can cause nucleic acid mutations. Based on the source, antioxidants are grouped into synthetic antioxidants and natural antioxidants. Papaya leaf is one of the plants used in traditional medicine which is considered a natural antioxidant. The purpose of this study was to study the antioxidant activity of papaya extract methanol through IC50 values. The method used in this research is 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydarzil (DPPH) method. The results of this study are referred to as IC50 values ​​of 884.8272 ppm. This means that methanol extract papaya leaves has very weak antioxidant activity.

Abstract

Research has been carried out on the analgesic effect of infusion of lime leaves (Citrus aurantifolia (Christm.) Swing) on male white mice (Mus musculus L) induced 1% acetic acid.The purpose of this study was to see the effect of analgesic effect of infusion of lime leaves (Citrus aurantifolia (Christm.) Swing) on male white mice (Mus musculus L) using the Writhing Test method. Experimental animals were divided into 5 groups. The negative control group was only given aquades, a positive control group of acetyl salicylate acid with a dose of 1.3 mg / 20g BB which was suspended with 1% Na CMC, the treatment group was given a lime leaf infusion (Citrus aurantifolia (Christm.) Swing) with a concentration of 5 %, 10% and 20%.The experimental animals were given oral preparations as much as 1% BB, 30 minutes after which each group was induced with 1% acetic acid as much as 0.1 ml ip. The data obtained is processed using two-way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). The results showed that the infusion of lime leaves at concentrations of 10% and 20% (Citrus aurantifolia (Christm.) Swing) has analgesic effects on mice induced 1% acetic acid, .significantly different from negative controls (p<0.05) but not as strong as acetyl salicylate (positive control) Keywords : Analgetic, infusion, lime leaves, acetic acid

Abstract

The demand for pulveres (divide powder) preparations is still being done widely by doctors both doctors in hospitals, clinics or health centers for patients, especially pediatric patients who have difficulty consuming tablets or capsules so that it can be recompiled from solid dosage forms to pulveres dosage form. The purpose of divided powder distribution is to provide convenience and comfort to patients, especially pediatric patients who have difficulty receiving drugs in solid dosage forms. According to data obtained by researchers from all prescriptions collected at UPT Bengkalis health center, that there are still many URI pulveres prescriptions written by doctors in the children's polyclinic room as many as 598 prescriptions in the last six months from September 2018 to February 2019. Based also on data from UPT Bengkalis health center there are thirteen pharmacies in the working area of ​​UPT Bengkalis health center. The results obtained from thirteen pharmacies there are three pharmacies that do not meet the weight uniformity requirements and there are ten pharmacies that meet the weight uniformity requirements set by Pharmacopoeia Indonesia V Edition.

Abstract

Mefenamic acid is one of the drugs of choice for analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic treatments. This drug is in the form of caplets, capsules and suspensions. The community still considers that drugs with branded generic names are more qualified than generic drugs with logos. This study aims to evaluate the physical properties of branded generic mefenamic acid caplets and branded generics in the Tampan District of Pekanbaru City. Sampling was carried out from 2 generic products bearing the logo (G1 and G2) and 2 branded generic products (M1 and M2). The results of the physical properties evaluation of mefenamic acid caplets obtained were weight diversity test with percent weight in the range of 98.017-101.491%; size uniformity test which has a thickness in the range of 0.440-0.545 cm and a diameter range of 0.682-0.828 cm; hardness test has a range of 8.8-11.1 kg/cm2; fragility test with a range of 0.024-0.316%; endurance test ranges from 0.008 to 0.200%; and disintegration time test which ranges from 3 minutes 58 seconds to 19 minutes 55 seconds. Based on the results of this study it can be concluded that the evaluation of the physical properties of generic mefenamic acid caplets with branded and generic branded brands has fulfilled the physical properties requirements listed in the Indonesian Pharmacopoeia Edition IV and V.

Abstract

Utilization of medicines which is natural has become the choice for the people of Indonesia. Various types of plants in Indonesia has been used inherited in the people, but have not used optimally. On the ciplukan tree contain active compounds and have Overcoming various diseases as cancer, rheumatism, coronary heart and cataract is required compound that has antioxidant activity. This research aims to determine the antioxidant activity which is in methanol extract ciplukan leaves. one ofmethod free radical measurement by antioxidant compounds using the 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) method. The 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) method is a method simple antioxidant measurement, fast and doesn't need a lot of reagents. Plants that have potential as a barrier to free radicals is Ciplukan. After being tested from the results of researchin the ciplukan leaf methanol extract obtained IC50 of 820.5695 ppm which means it's very weak but is still recommended as an antioxidant.

Abstract

Local food potential in Indonesia is very abundant, including cereals, palmae, tubers that thrive in almost all regions of Indonesia. Sago flour for making pastries (nastar) is rich in carbohydrates (starch) but is very low in other nutrients, especially protein content. Therefore, sago flour needs to be added with protein foods such as red beans. Red beans have a high enough protein content, red beans are made of flour and are used as additional ingredients in making pastries. In the study, a comparison of sago flour and red bean flour used was 25% sago flour: 75% red bean flour, 50% sago flour: 50% red bean flour, 75% sago flour: 25% kidney bean flour and 100% sago flour. . The results showed that the protein content was 4.51% - 9.38%.
