Abstract

This study demonstates the potential of starch tuber ganyong (Canna edulis Kerr.) as a substance for making ethanol by Saccharomyces cerevisiae with microalgae addition of Spirulina sp. as a source of nutrients in the fermentation process of ethanol has been carried out. The study also aims to determine the amount of nutrient concentration and fermentation time was used to generate the optimum ethanol content. Hydrolysis process by enzymatic is done through a liquification phase with α-amylase and saccharification phase with gluko-amylase. Furthermore the process of fermentation stage with the variation of the time (132 hours, 156 hours, 180 hours and 204 hours) using the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae with the addition of Spirulina sp. as a nutrient in the variation of Spirulina sp. concentrations (0,6 % (w/v), 1,2 % (w/v) and 1,8 % (w/v)). The result showed the sugar reducing after of hydrolysis was obtained with amount of 0,527 %, increased from the initial state with amount of 0,351 %. The highest ethanol content be found on the increase nutrient with amount of 1,2 % (w/v) by is time of fermentation to180 hours.

Abstract

A research on the determination of a level of vitamin C in Red Dragon fruit syrup by conducting storage time variety have been done in normal condition so that it can be consumed. Analysis process has been conducted by Iodimetry titration method through the step of dragon fruit syrup made by the variety of storage time 0 until 20 days. The result showed that high level of vitamin C was 0.03136 % on the beginning day, and the low level was 0.00141 % on the 20th, therefore can be summaries that vitamin C on dragon fruit syrup product can last while 20 days only in the normal condition. Furthermore, for an organoleptic test of the dragon fruit syrup product can last on the beginning day until the day of 15th and on the day of 16th or more that respondents declare of dragon fruit syrup, product was not feasible to consumed.

Abstract

Synthesis of silica membrane from coal fly ash to decrease the color intensity of the liquid waste of sarung Samarinda industry has been done. The extraction of silica from coal fly ash by using the sol-gel process, and for silica membrane by using mixture of PVA (Poly Viny Acohol) and PEG (Polyethylen Glycol. Decrease in color intensity were analyzed using UV-Visible Spectrofotometer and the morphology of the membrane was observed by SEM-EDX. Based on the results from the spectrofotometer the concentration of the liquid waste berofe is 52.92 Unit Pt.Co and after decolorization is 25.04 Unit Pt.Co. The result show that decreasing are concentration is 52.68%, and the results the Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM)-EDX on the membrane after decolorization of liquid waste show distribution of pores in the membrane experiencing changes caused by new particles covering membrane be expected from liquid waste, and the elements are C, O, Na, Al and Si.

Abstract

Telah dilakukan penelitian ini yang bertujuan untuk mengetahui kadar ion timbal dan ion kromium pada rambut pekerja perbengkelan dengan variasi umur dan lama bekerja dengan kadar ion timbal dan ion kromium pada rambut pekerja perbengkelan. Rambut yang sudah dikumpulkan dicuci kemudian diabukan dan dihomogenkan kemudian dianalisis dengan Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS). Panjang gelombang untuk analisis logam timbal 283,3 nm dan untuk logam kromium 357,9 nm. Hasil menunjukkan analisis kadar ion timbal sampel pada rambut pekerja bengkel terendah 3,892 (mg/kg) yang tertinggi 48,814 (mg/kg) dan untuk kadar ion kromium sampel rambut pada pekerja bengkel terendah 1,578 (mg/kg) yang tertinggi 36,884 (mg/kg). Berdasarkan uji statistik analisis korelasi yang berhubungan positif umur dan lama bekerja dengan kadar ion timbal dan ion kromium pada rambut pekerja perbengkelan. Dengan Koefisien determinan besarnya kadar ion timbal berdasarkan hubungan lama bekerja 98,2 % dan   untuk ion kromium 97,7 %,  dan koefisien determinan berdasarkan hubungan umur dengan kadar ion timbal 78,2 % dan ion kromium 83,2 %.

Abstract

The research about made biodiesel from fat of patin fish (Pangasius sp) as raw material and known influence time exposure microwave radiation to concentration biodiesel that was produced have been done.Fat of patin fish heated to get oil extract. The oil extract was refluxed with methanol as reactant and H2SO4 as catalyst for 120 minute. Then transesterified with methanol as reactant and NaOH as catalyst with different time that was for 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 minutes. The high product of biodiesel is 87,2 b/v that was exposured microwave radiation for 8 minutes. To knew kind of methyl ester in biodiesel used GC-MS and the high concentration of methyl ester in biodiesel is methyl oleat with concentration 24,74%.

Abstract

Determination Degree of Acylation (DA) with the baseline method from the synthesis of N-Aldimin Chitosan was obtained from the acylation reaction between chitosan and acetaldehyde. The formation of N-Aldimin Chitosan is supported by the data of FT-IR spectroscopy in the wave number 3441.01 cm-1 shows the stretching vibration of OH of chitosan and absorption peaks in the area of wave number 1627.92 cm-1 and 1566.20 cm-1 is vibration C=N which identifies the formation aldimine chitosan. Wavenumber 2924.09 cm-1 shows the C-H stretching vibration as evidenced by a wave number 1404.16 cm-1 which is C-H bending and C-O absorption at wavenumber 1087.85 cm-1. Acylation degree (DA) obtained by 81.33%.

Abstract

The research on the use of water hyacinth powder (Eichornia crassipes) activated by adsorption method as the adsorption of cadmium metal ions (Cd) using dye bag system had been done. Water hyacinth powder was activated previously using HNO3 0,3 M then characterized by FT-IR spectroscopy. Infra-red spectrum showed hydroxyl cluster (-OH) from cellulose could function as the active sites of metal adsorption. Adsorption process was done by using variant contiguous time periods of metal ions, variant concentration of metal ions and addition of the metal ions of lead (Pb) ion adsorption on metal cadmium (Cd). From the results of the study Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS) had shown the percentage of adsorption by water hyacinth powder adsorbent which was activated at 30 minutes of optimum contiguous time with optimum concentration 100 mg/L of 57,175 mg/L and 56,441% percentage of adsorption. In addition of the metal ions of lead (Pb) ion adsorption on metal cadmium (Cd) decreased to 20,681 mg/L with the percent adsorbed at 20,415% . Keywords: , , , , , AAS.

Abstract

Polyol compounds obtained by epoxidation dan hydroxylation, the results obtained with the reaction yield of 69.23%. Potassium soap mixture in the form of a polyol obtained by saponification polyol with Potassium Hydroxide with a yield of 70.36%. Polyol and potassium soap in the form of a polyol mixture was analyzed by FT-IR spectrophotometer.Respectively iodine from moringa seed oil and polyol are 107.3769 mg I / gram of oil and 4.6755 mg I / gram of oil. HLB of fatty acid potassium soap of moringa seed oil and potassium soap in the form of a mixture of polyol is determined by titration method and obtained HLB of fatty acid potassium soap of moringa seed oil amounted to 5,2178 while the potassium soap in the form of a polyol mixture of 8,4767. Free alkalinity of soap potassium mixture in the form of a polyol is 0.551%. Based on the stability and strength of the foam test, the concentration of potassium soap mixture in the form polyols having the most excellent foam stability is 1% and which has the best strength is 1%.Keywords: moringa seed oil, epoxidation, polyol, saponification

Abstract

This research aims to isolate the crude extract amylase of sprouted seeds jackfruit (Artocarpus heterophyllus Lam) and determine the specific activity. Determination of total protein concentration and amylase activity of enzyme crude extract on seed germination jackfruit (Artocarpus heterophyllus Lam). Determination of total protein concentration using the method of Bradford, whereas the determination of amylase activity was performed using dinitrosalisilat acid method (DNS). The results showed a total protein concentration of the enzyme crude extract of sprout seeds jackfruit (Artocarpus heterophyllus Lam) is 319,47 ug / mL, amylase activity of 13,96 U / mL and specific activity is 1748,05 U / mg.

Abstract

Penelitian inibertujuan untuk mengetahui toksisitas dan sifat alelopati ekstrak alang-alang (Imperata cylindrica) terhadap perkecambahan biji padi (Oriza sativa). Sampel kering akar alang-alang dari Kutai Lama dimaserasi menggunakan pelarut etanol dan di fraksinasi menggunakan pelarut n-heksana dan etil asetat. Sampel kemudian di Skrining fitokimia dan uji toksistas dengan metode (Brini Shrimp Lethality Test) BSLT. Fraksi yang menunjukkan nilai LC50 paling rendah kemudian diuji sifat alelopati dan dianalisis dengan GC-MS. Hasil uji skrining fitokimia menunjukkan adanya kandungan alkaloid, triterpenoid dan fenol. Hasil uji toksisitas dengan metode (Brini Shrimp Lethality Test) BSLT menunjukkan bahwa fraksi etanol memiliki toksisitas tertinggi pada larva udang dengan nilai LC50 sebesar 647,5364 ppm. Uji senyawa alelopati dari ekstrak alang-alang dilakukan pada biji padi (Oriza sativa) memiliki pengaruh nyata terhadap perkecambahan biji padi. Analisa kandungan senyawa kimia pada fraksi etanol dari akar alang-alang menghasilkan dua puncak komponen senyawa pada spektra massa yang ditunjukkan dari hasil GC-MS yaitu fenol dan tetradecamethylcycloheptasiloxane.
